Alot of people just abandonned Galveston, and the ones who have not, or could not are left without homes. Some without jobs. FEMA is pressuring the residents in the trailers to leave before march 2010 deadline. Just goes to show how Texas will shit on is on people, but people from N.O. took advantage of the Texans hospitality. Texas shits on Texans.

The only thing not back up YET is the really tall ride that takes you up and lets you view the water and Kemah/Seabrook/all other things around it. But I saw them working on it a few days ago when I worked that day, so hopefully it'll be back up soon.

San Leon is still in a state of ruins, it's pretty bad down there. My house was hit as well, I'm still living in an RV....but we will rebuild & repair!

The reason you don't see pictures of people on their roofs is because we had the sense to evacuate and not wait for the government to come hold our hands like the welfare-addicted punks in NOrleans. 2 mr. funon14 go fuck yourself. as i said prior the bullet took no damage. it doesnt get much stronger than that.
3 the boardwalk is back with a total of 5 rides currently open (bullet, double decker carosel, train, aviator, and the NEW 140ft drop zone drop tower)
4 everything will be open no later than spring break 2009
and right after the hurricane ended in the morning i drove all the way to galveston and i was like that is not galveston everything was like destroyed
my aunt (who lives there) said that most of the rides are still shut down and that most of the restruants and stores closed...and that theres only a few attractions open... and that nobody is ever there any more.... is this true?
well i went there a couple of weeks ago and the rollercoaster was open with the train, and they also brought a merry go round there for the attractions and most of ALL the resturants are closed and they are doing a pretty nice job of constusctin everything and it will be done in July 2009!~

Winds from the hurricane is not as important as the storm surge. Galveston Bay had a large storm surge which flooded my parents house along with all of there neighbors.
What was bad? If you mean the hurricane, only Galveston got it bad. The rest generally only received tropical storm force winds, with the occasional gust.
They're not going to let a multimillion dollar roller coaster they JUST built rot away...
The boardwalk is not damaged like you are trying to make people think. The restaurants have some flood damage, the boards on the actual boardwalk are messed up, but life goes on. Kemah Boardwalk will be back, so stop trying to over dramatize everything. This is not like Astroworld.
I love Kemah too but I'm with maryharold on this one. It'll be rebuilt, sooner than people realize and things will more or less be in the exact spots they were before. I think Kemah boardwalk will be the same if not better.
Whoa, guys! Calm down! Salt grass will be open within 10 days, and Joe's might be open within a month or so. It's not that bad. I've been out there on the boardwalk. I bet by Spring break everything will look and feel like it used to. and even more busy cause people will want to see what is fixed or what is looks like again
I can't wait for them to rebuild. September 22,2008 I celebrate my 6th wedding anniversary. We were married on the ferris wheel at the boardwalk. Hopefully next year when my husband returns from Iraq, we will ride that ferris wheel for Sept 22, 2009 for Lucky Number 7!!!
We went to the boardwalk a week before Ike hit. I'm so glad we got to visit one last time. I can't wait for them to rebuild everything. It's a favorite spot for my family, especially my dad, who loves to watch the boats there when he visits from Pennsylvania.

I worked there this summer..hard to beieve. I hated working the inverter in the hot sun..and the red Baron for a six hour stretch...the tower was always the best because of the a/c..oh well, they will build it back!

All Restaurants and shops are open with the exception of the Flying Dutchman. Most of the remaining rides should open in the next couple weeks.
Boardwalk Bullet was the only ride NOT damaged by the hurricane.

My friend lives in North Houston, and her apartment was flooded. The whole area got plenty of damage, not just Galveston.
