I saw Willy twice in S.F. and he was unforgettable. The way he dressed, smoking wile singing,

every nuance was just so cool. But the thing that grabbed me was that voice. I became aware

of him from the Cruising soundtrack. Did he ever perform those songs live? Never could find hIs recordings until I went to Amoeba and they have all his European pressings and I was on cloud 9. Nice to know he a got his props...not nearly what he deserved. Thank you to all the people posting Please keep em' coming

The first time I ever saw him was on the bill with Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe. They were all trying to blow the other two out of the water. It was so hot and I fell in love with Willy. He WAS SO New York!!!!! I went to his shows in LA and Paris too but it was always the shows in NYC that felt the best. There will never be another like him.

New York crowd was the worst... they had the best and they always seem like they're asleep. They had the Ramones, the Heartbreakers, MinkdeVille, Dead Boys, the Dictators, Blondie, Tuff Darts, Wayne County, Richard hell and the Voidoids etc. and they always look half dead, what a pathetic audience. All those artists have had way more recognition in Europe than in the States.
