WOW!!!!!! This is so hard to do and this young man still hadn't fully developed when this was done. For anyone that knows little about ballet believe me this is amazingly good. There is more here than just tecnhique. If you bag him out you are purely jealous or a nitpicker to the enth degree.

Very very good, however he did dont make me as a fellow dancer want to dance and peform that peice, he showed little emotion and stage presence

A rather dry lifeless rendition danced like a 17 year old, but as he grows older he may make it more artistic like Lavrovsky or Misha. Honestly though he was not really ready for these roles at that age -

When Nureyev came they said "he's no Nijinsky - when Misha came, they said "he's no Nureyev." So here, more of the same. All great dancers, all had great promise and became legends. Watch Simkin will be great too one day - amazing even now.

@patty7beth I disagree, when Nureyev first came to the West there were a number of people who had seen Nijinsky and thought Nureyev better. I agree with you, Simkin has that little bit extra that makes the difference between a good dancer and a great artist.

@Buondelmonte123 the reason of the nijinsky legendary fame is ,imo,that never was filmed,if had been probabily would be as for pavlova and karsavina,from the film technique was very low in front nowadays,not real reason that nijinsky could compete with nureyev vasiliev or chabukiani,that is imo the real first dancer of this calibre.anyway never compare dancer of so far generation.

well znarf, let me tell you that you are comparing a god like baryshnikov with a semigod jaja daniil, both are good dancers.

I think that daniil is making a good effort like a classical dancer in this age, but baryshnikov is pure poetry, every move, every expression, every single step he do, were the maximium expression of human body.

baryshnikov was, is and it will be the best dancer ever.

This boy is absolutely amazing. His technique is excellent and his performances are always very clean and tidy. His confidence on stage is something anusual at his age. Of course he lacks the muscularity of Baryshnikov. He is still too young. Baryshnikov wasn't muscular at that age either. The double assamble was brilliant and saw him doing amazing grand pirouettes. Daniil Simkin is going to become one of the biggest ballet stars of our time.

Misha was a 70s dancer, and danced like a dancer from the 70s. Daniil is a dancer for the XXI century. Why always people have to compare? Acosta is great, so Bolle, Zelensky, they all have a different style and personality. Daniil is an amazing dancer, probably one of the best ever, as young as he is.

His double assamble is weak compared to Baryshnikovs. I haven't seen his grand piroette but imagine it doesn't compare. Lacks the clasical beauty and muscularity of Baryshnikov... Still, a very good dancer.

Daniil was born in 1987. He was just confirmed as a soloist with the American Ballet Theatre, starting Fall, 208.

If I may, you should control your hands before they start typing ridiculous comments. There's nothing wrong with his arms or hands. Daniil has excellent, Russian academic port de bras. Do yourself a favour and watch Baryshnikov in the same variation.

Simkin appears in the DVD: Divine Dancers. I paid no attention to his performance on that DVD. After seeing half dozen clip here I'll take another look. He is amazing. Definetly appears to be a world class dansuer.
