I dont care if dhalsim's sh$t doesn't combo, because he has basically priority on everything he does. Whereas with Balrog you at least have to mix it up and be good at close range and long, with dhalsim all you have to do is run and throw fierces. my friend mains dhalsim and is extremely good with him. the thing abut dhalsim is knowing how to pressure him. its really easy to get to dhalsim knowing how he works. but the fact that this guy is using balrog makes it slightly more difficult. but the balrog player doesn't seem used to playing a dhalsim especially when dhalsim jumped and teleported behind balrog he couldve focused while dhalsim was punching balrog after the teleport. thats a huge advantage that ive seen everyone use for example

I concur...It's hard to get in close with Balrog. So he has to move around alot. Do you remember TJ Combo from Killer Instinct? I wish Capcom would implement his moves into Balrogs. Like, how you hold back for 2 seconds with TJ Combo but then hold forward for 2 seconds. He had such an array of combos. I really wish Capcom would revamp and change Balrogs moves around or at least lessen the charge time or sumthin. I like Balrog but he can be shitty to use at times...
Balrog is generally considered one of the strongest characters in the game...of course it's hard to get in with him, he is a close-range fighter who is supposed to maximize damage when he gets his opportunities. If he were able to get in easily on Dhalsim (or other zoning characters) then that would hardly be a fair matchup, would it?
@16bitGam3r I think it is already an unfair matchup having hadoukens in the game PERIOD. If you say ......."zoning"........characters only have an advantage from a distance then I don't know how that explains Ryu or any other hadouken fighter's ability to counter almost ANYTHING with a mere shoryken. The hadoukens are conditioned for both close quarters fighting and ......"zoning". They hardly have any bad matchups at all. And naturally, you'll in turn, see many gravitate to them.
naaa.. dhalsim isnt really boring. I dont play him, but he is hard to play in different matchups. It looks easy when good players play him, but it isnt. The Problem in this Video is, that Dhalsim ist the perfect counter for Boxer.His Jump is to small to get close to dhalsim.

when i verse ppl online, i jsut first kick their head with a med kick and then teleport to the other side of them and kick low so they would fall.. for me it works pretty good.
The reason why that was a hard match for Boxer (Balrog) is because all of Boxers moves are ground moves exept for the headbutt. Anyways, Dhalsim has great ground control and when Dhalsim spits up the fireballs it eliminates all of the dash moves that Boxer can do. And it will also be really hard to get up close to Dhalsim and do a headbutt.
That Balrog isn't that good :S I would have threw more EX moves since he kept jumping back and throwing an attack and he kept doing the same downwards round house attack towards him so the Dhalsim picked up on it.

I'm new to ST4, just wondering why the Boxer tries to jump over yoga fire and not charge through it with a special version (use up 1 bar) of his charge every single time he has a bar.

Because it's a waste if not used right and they can become wise if you keep repeating the same moves. You have to mix it up alot with Balrog because he is a very predictable character in the wrong hands.
I'm guessing you are not a Dhalsim player... After using Dhalsim's Ultra you can use his Super and both will have hit, if timed right it takes almost 3/4 of their health. The only other time a super should be used with him is a jumping opponent, from his anti air combo, back kick/light fire attacks and as side wake up. Anti wake up super is just a waste. HCB + MP or HP is a much better anti wake up and you can immediately react if you use the MP one.

Why are people saying that Dhalsim is a noob character. Have you even PLAYED as Dhalsim, because if you have you'd realize that he has little to no moves you can combo with. His close combat skills are anything but impressive, and he can easily be destroyed by a charachter such as Bison/Viper. He takes alot of skill to use and isn't someone you can just instantly learn to play.

@Joneshing Bullshit, there are no inescapable crossups with Dhalsim,
you can easily see his setups coming, and it gets pretty much impossible
to get anything in with Dhalsim against a skilled player, as soon as it exceeds
one freaking hit.
Want to talk about cheap characters ? Try Ryu, Ken and Sagat.
Also SETH.
Yoga teleport is more often a deathtrap for Dhalsim, then his opponents.

I dont care if dhalsim's sh$t doesn't combo, because he has basically priority on everything he does. Whereas with Balrog you at least have to mix it up and be good at close range and long, with dhalsim all you have to do is run and throw fierces. His stupid grab has the same priority as on Sf2 and he can combo his ultra into a super. All you need to be good at with him is running like a little puta

@Joneshing I'm affraid that will have to wait, you see I currently don't own
a computer capable of running SFIV, and I am no Xbox or PS3 owner.
My comrade and I sometimes play a couple of matches against eachother,
so we had no serious online experience so far, and we had no real opportunity
yet to perfect our techniques in training mode.
I would love to try Dhalsim in SSFIV, perhaps they made the roster somewhat
more balanced. And I feel that his new Ultra opens up a lot of door for him.

@Joneshing My comrade owns a computer that can run SFIV,
but he is not a very consistent SF player, so I cannot get to the top of my game.
I do have general fighting game experience, and usually I can muster up every
single move that all the characters have to offer, and reach the niveau of pulling
of complex stuff on automatic pilot. I have always trained singleplayer, so the
compititional feel is basically foreign to me, but I can see myself doing that
to a somewhat good extend.

@Joneshing The way I've always practised my characters, is based around
perfecting the execution of more difficult special moves, such as yoga teleport
(training on that until the fail rate becomes a mere 5% and less for example).
And tricky Ultra/Supers such as Vega's, or Zangiefs.
After I can pull that all of (which today I can for quite some time, for the most
part) I train on linking all of it together, given certain circumstances, training
my dexterity in the process.

strategy, and I am well aware of that. But currently I am no good online, for it requires specific practise on little 'exploits', to render the others basically incapable of fighting back. And for that, as indicated in previous replies I had no time to work on.
But perhaps, we might do a battle in SSFIV, as soon as it is released for PC
and I get a decent computer.

my friend mains dhalsim and is extremely good with him. the thing abut dhalsim is knowing how to pressure him. its really easy to get to dhalsim knowing how he works. but the fact that this guy is using balrog makes it slightly more difficult. but the balrog player doesn't seem used to playing a dhalsim especially when dhalsim jumped and teleported behind balrog he couldve focused while dhalsim was punching balrog after the teleport. thats a huge advantage that ive seen everyone use for example

I concur...It's hard to get in close with Balrog. So he has to move around alot. Do you remember TJ Combo from Killer Instinct? I wish Capcom would implement his moves into Balrogs. Like, how you hold back for 2 seconds with TJ Combo but then hold forward for 2 seconds. He had such an array of combos. I really wish Capcom would revamp and change Balrogs moves around or at least lessen the charge time or sumthin. I like Balrog but he can be shitty to use at times...

Balrog is generally considered one of the strongest characters in the game...of course it's hard to get in with him, he is a close-range fighter who is supposed to maximize damage when he gets his opportunities. If he were able to get in easily on Dhalsim (or other zoning characters) then that would hardly be a fair matchup, would it?

@16bitGam3r I think it is already an unfair matchup having hadoukens in the game PERIOD. If you say ......."zoning"........characters only have an advantage from a distance then I don't know how that explains Ryu or any other hadouken fighter's ability to counter almost ANYTHING with a mere shoryken. The hadoukens are conditioned for both close quarters fighting and ......"zoning". They hardly have any bad matchups at all. And naturally, you'll in turn, see many gravitate to them.

naaa.. dhalsim isnt really boring. I dont play him, but he is hard to play in different matchups. It looks easy when good players play him, but it isnt. The Problem in this Video is, that Dhalsim ist the perfect counter for Boxer.His Jump is to small to get close to dhalsim.

as he doesn't need to get close at all. He let's Dhalsim come to him.
I am a decent Dhalsim player myself, but I find him to have far too many
shortcomings. And starts to come across as another 'Dan'.
No matter how much I love playing Dhalsim (and I main him),
I find it generally impossible to get an acceptable win ratio, and even
when you win it is just barely 90% of the time.
I hope he is stronger in SSFIV.

The reason why that was a hard match for Boxer (Balrog) is because all of Boxers moves are ground moves exept for the headbutt. Anyways, Dhalsim has great ground control and when Dhalsim spits up the fireballs it eliminates all of the dash moves that Boxer can do. And it will also be really hard to get up close to Dhalsim and do a headbutt.

That Balrog isn't that good :S I would have threw more EX moves since he kept jumping back and throwing an attack and he kept doing the same downwards round house attack towards him so the Dhalsim picked up on it.

And a super is a great anti-wake up move Dhalsim, one of his only ones besides gaining some distance.

I'm guessing you are not a Dhalsim player... After using Dhalsim's Ultra you can use his Super and both will have hit, if timed right it takes almost 3/4 of their health. The only other time a super should be used with him is a jumping opponent, from his anti air combo, back kick/light fire attacks and as side wake up. Anti wake up super is just a waste. HCB + MP or HP is a much better anti wake up and you can immediately react if you use the MP one.

Why are people saying that Dhalsim is a noob character. Have you even PLAYED as Dhalsim, because if you have you'd realize that he has little to no moves you can combo with. His close combat skills are anything but impressive, and he can easily be destroyed by a charachter such as Bison/Viper. He takes alot of skill to use and isn't someone you can just instantly learn to play.
