  • dont listen to anyone else , i had this and it was the wrong grade oil , bmw 6`s lov 5w-40 fully symth . cures the problem strait away

oil is the thick to get upto the rockers , with thinner oil it moves quicker .

bet this doesnt happen when the iol is hot & thinner ?

  • I could be wrong but i think thats your Disa going bad

  • I love my 328i. Only mod is a Signature Motoring performance intake kit. They run around $170 and add up to 9HP in the E46 323/325/328 and up to 13.9HP in the 330. That's about $17/per extra HP... A good value for the extra oomph. General HP increases are shown:

    E30 series: 6.0-13.4hp gain

    E36 series: 5.5-12hp gain

    E46 series: 6.0-13.9hp gain

    E92 series: 8.5+ hp gain

    Z3/Z4 (all): 5.5-13.9hp gain

  • change your spark plugs.

  • I've been using oil directly from the dealership but still hear the sound. I checked the vanos to replace the seals and they looked fine.

  • maybe exhaust system..does it have butterfly?vanos,or i doubt but mayb disa..

  • @laossun Not sure if its from the exhaust system. Sould comes from the engine. Doesn't sound like the sound is coming from the throttle body or DISA. I did remove the DISA to check it out, but it looked fine.

  • As robjaj said... The lifters. Same car as mine and same issue. Let it warm up for a little before driving and never go hard on the gas while it's cold.

  • got any solution yet for that noise??? =[ i have the same problem, with the exact same model

  • Try changing your oil then, perhaps discuss with your garage about another oil type.

Also see if your vanos is in proper shape.

  • but it doesn't happen all the time, and the sound goes away after the cars been running for a few seconds.

  • could u reply quickly about your further experience...i am buying a cheap 2nd hand car tomorrow, the seller said there is ticking sound only when warming, and none after it while driving or accelerating....is this something that would cost thousands of dollars to fix on a 92 ford falcon or it is relatively cheap = under $300, appreciate advise quickly, thx.

  • its your lifters dude - they are fucked!!!!
