  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE! The song, the instrument, and talent! KUDOS!

  • Yo Grudge, this is a mesmerising performance of a super tune and it's been playing here for days. It's over so fast we have to keep restarting - about time you put up the 12 inch extended remix! How nice also to receive praise from the Jordan family 2 years ago

  • It's too fast, it's too short, and it's brilliant. It's been here 4 years and just discovered. What a fine rendition. Thanks for the sharing of this fabulous galloping tune

  • Hi Stephen, it's nice to find young people interested in pipe organs. I'm Director of Music at St Michael's Retford, which is just down the road from Harworth. We have a 2 manual Father Willis installed in the chancel. If you would like to come and play it - drop me a line :)

  • @FatherWillisOrganist ....thankyou for your kind comment :) I shall certainly consider your offer of playing at Retford, however I do play the theatre organ and not classical/church organ.

  • @gudge8 The theatre repertoire can be played equally well on church organs. Although they're based on Diapson tone rather than Tibias - I'm currently practising Chattanooga Choo Choo to play after Mass on Sunday 4th July Most of the theatre/church organ controversy is largely due to the snobbery of a previous generation of church organists. Thankfully attitudes have now changed for the most part. Michael

  • Great video, love the song. Very well played and very nice acoustics too!

  • Great Playing 5 Stars from me

Where abouts is Howorth Is it the one in yorkshire?

    James

  • hi, Harworth is at the far side of Doncaster however at the moment it is not playable due to recent troubles involving the building the organ is situated in.....the first concert is in September and then I am hoping to start practicing there again

  • A nice quirky & pacey rendition of Little Red Monkey. Great to see someone of your age playing it - and I say that as son of the person who wrote the piece way back in 1953!

  • Thanks alot for the compliment!!!!

  • Liking the vid =] Cant help but notice what happened to the original bench ? {Stool} thats not the original they have on there

  • hi, cheers.....not a clue what happened to the original bench tbh :S

  • Fantastic! I once did a short animated film to the radio version of that song. Glad to see that it and the organ are alive and well. Keep up the great work.

  • To practise*, sorry.

  • Well done! I really like your playing and hope that you will soon find somewhere to practice. The future of the organ world relies on young players and many people in the organ world need to realise that.

  • To practise. * Sorry not thinking straight today. :-)

  • lol, cheers for the comments and yes....I don think enough people are interested in the theatre organ and I cant understand why!

  • That is a beautiful console! I am a huge fan of Art Deco. Played very well, too!

  • its also hard with me only being 18 because most places (even churches) seem to think that its weird for an 18 year old to want to get access to an organ...so some places can be aquard about that but i have been talking to the organ enthusiasts at harworth and they know how serious I am about playing and how difficult it is to find somewhere to practice.

  • hey, cheers.....erm welll I got talking to Andrew Nix because somebody in my family used to know him and his dad....really the only thing you can do is just go to where ever there is one and take it from there......i was just lucky to have been able to play here but am looking forward to playing in the future and once I have better means of transport (currently a 125) then I intend to try further afield!!!

  • Very well played! I like this tune, good choice of registration too I might add. Keep up the excellent work, your videos are great, please post more! = )

What's the secret to getting to play on one of these musical gems?, as I have the same problem as you in that there aren't many organs near me that allows for "public" playing.

  • cheers, yes it is a great little organ. I have only played it 3 times now but after september am hoping to be able to practice on it a bit more often. This is the christie that Andrew Nix learned to play on.

  • Great stuff! And what a lovely Christie. Do you get chance to play it often?
