I just found this vid again! I remember watching it for the first time and all I could get out was "f--k...this guy is the real deal". Still think that! Love it Tommy!
@roquemusic I would be willing to bet he's playing along to a click in those headphones, which likely includes some kind of audible cue for that kick at the :55 mark...just my guess. :)
I love Tommy!!! If you wanna' watch a funny but awesome vid, check out the Tommy Igoe vid on the Roland channel about V-Drums. Believe me, check it out if you liked this :)
hahaha think i found what you're talkin bout :) Know you mean about this dude - I was so impressed I ordered Groove Essentials from Amazon! He's pretty down to earth which makes watching and learning ever better! :)
This guy is one of the most complete drummers I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. If you really listen to him, there are not many who compare!
This is sick! It's too bad this whole video isn't complete. I was there when he played this tune and it was jaw dropping. Ridiculously fast Samba that he just ate up. Listen at :55 you can hear the entire room gasp at the setup to how he brought the track back in.

Great player. Great conductor. Great teacher.
Also, props to the band. I would have been terrified to even keep up with him, and that was couple years back.
Knowing how good he is now, I would drop my instrument so that I don't ruin the show.

Honestly I like the way he plays and feels the groove. Didn't like the first 40 seconds of the clip, but after that his ability shows better.
I think he's also a very nice guy, the way he talks and explains things says alot about his personality.
