Please check out the Starship Rendezvous soundtrack which I am going to upload in the near future. I assure you, thats some stuff seriously ahead of its time. It has Acid, Breakcore, everything before there even were labels for that.

Indeed, weird game. Actually, almost all games by this developer (Telenet Japan) are trippy and bizarre. One of the many reasons for them being my favorite developer of all time. ;-)

Probably the most easy way is to use an emulator (blueMSX or openMSX) and record a .wav from it.

You're welcome! Actually this game has a music mode, so you could listen to and record any music of the soundtrack. Just push [F5] at the title screen (where the word "Andorogynus" comes falling down).

It is not in English because this game was never 'officially' released outside of Japan;

it was merely imported to Europe by distributors like HomeSoft and FamilySoft but the developers themselves never made a localized adaptation.

This is, unfortunately the case with many old MSX game from that era.

A lot of them have undergone a fan translation by now; unfortunately no one has taken the effort to translate this game yet.

It's not really a matter of 'shortage' of people in the retro scenes who studied Japanese and use their knowledge to translate vintage games. Regarding MSX, just look at Woomb/Bazix for instance.

The real problem is time, and supposed lack of interest when it comes to more obscure games; no-one wants to make such an effort when not much response or appreciation is to be expected - I can't blame them.

Also, certain games may have a 'text display format' which is harder to adapt.

Yes.

You play the first 6 'shocks' as a man.

After this, you play them again as a woman, followed by a final stage.

This visual is when your gender changes, right before starting again.

Indeed it's a very unique shoot'em up, but I always found it to be kinda sucky to be honest.

Who is that chick in the game? And what's the significance of Androgynus in the game?

The game's story deals with an evil enemy planet consisting mostly of water called "Urd".

The people from a neighbouring "good" planet at one point have captured a specimen of a species originating from Urd.

They figure that the creatures of Urd can best be battled by an organism which is more or less the same as them.

They decide to examine, modify and reproduce one specimen and send it back to Urd to combat them on their own turf.

This creation is "the Andorogynus".

Now, in the game itself, you play the first 6 "shocks" (levels) as a dude (the blue player character you see at the start of this movie).

After that, you get the visual you can see here.

Subsequently, you'll have to play the first 6 shocks AGAIN plus an additional, unique level; this time you're a chick.

That's were the 'andorogynity' comes in. :-)

However, your gender has absolutely no influence on gameplay whatsoever.

I really do too, but I think it's a shame how the very last boss seems unbeatable without cheating.
