I think the "escape" rule was poorly thought out. It doesn't look particularly heroic or satisfying to conclude a match with a guy essentially running away from the ring.
I love how Gorilla Monsoon has to remind the ref that there are no count outs in a steel cage match.
It looks like Rick Rude actually hit the floor first, but of course the way the match was booked, it was meant for both of them to hit the floor at the same time, then for the Fink to say the match must continue.
Rude was a magician in the ring. How else do you explain the fact that he had good matches with The Ultimate Warrior, who had the wrestling talent of a cockroach.
