Besides, some people take facebook way too seriously. So what if that person doesn't wanna friend you..it's just Facebook! Years from now some new social networking site will come along anyway and this'll all be forgotten.

im friends with my mom on facebook but only cause im friends with so many coworkers that i have to keep it clean anyway. but - she does start asking me questions about things i hadnt actually told her. kind of annoying.

I'm sorry so many people are unsubscribing from you over this. I completely understand where you are coming from.

I accepted my mom's friend request on Facebook, and now, she calls me and asks me about pictures she sees on me and my friend's profiles. She also assumes that the girl in my display picture is my girlfriend, and she asks me questions about it all the time, even though I told her that I'm gay.

So yeah, don't add your mom. You don't need the invasion of privacy. You're grown. :)

Facebook is great for keeping in touch with people you "kind of" know, where a phone call might be awkward, but allows you to stay in touch.

Parents can, and should be more of a direct contact thing I would think. Why remove the personal connection with your parents?

hahaha, my mom is on my facebook, Myspace and subbed to my Youtube! I just love her support, she's going to love you no matter what and you shouldn't feel "Violated" . You're a big boy and she knows that, she just wants to be more apart of your life.....look at me, the mommy talking :D.

It might seem awkward having your mom as a "friend," but only because you might feel more constrained about posting things you know she will be reading. I rarely ever use my facebook, but my mom did friend me last week and I friended her back. That's mostly because I don't updated my facebook. =) Anyway, she just deleted her facebook because she got creeped out by thinking about people knowing her personal life and info. Maybe you can scare your mom straight and she'll delete hers, too! =)

My mom just started using Facebook, so when she requested me I added her. I really don't use it much, I use Twitter and Youtube more. She knows I'm on those sites but she doesn't "get" them so she leaves me alone there.

I ignore my mom's request. But for some reason, my cousins got the bright idea to make my grandmother a facebook. And my grandmother spams emails like no one's business, so now I have my mother and grandmother blocked.

I was a little uneasy about adding my Mom to my Facebook, just because I felt like she would semi-stalk me through it because we live far apart... AND SHE DID. I know exactly how you feel though. Before adding my Mom I could post whatever I wanted on there, and it was cool. Now I feel like I have to censor myself because I don't want my Mom knowing certain things, and I feel like I've lost some privacy from her since adding her. It's hard to explain, but I know how you feel.
