It's a shame it had to come to that but she should understand if that's how you really feel. I've been through something similar myself.
Besides, some people take facebook way too seriously. So what if that person doesn't wanna friend you..it's just Facebook! Years from now some new social networking site will come along anyway and this'll all be forgotten.
This is so cute Cameron! I love your mom. I liked when she said "I kind of get the feeling you like me again." Aww! Only, don't yall say I love you at the end of your conversations?
my mom wont add me of facebook.. she doesnt want to know what im up to.. which might be a good thing... then i saw my grandmother on facebook the other day.. i dont even want to know what i should do about that. lol
im friends with my mom on facebook but only cause im friends with so many coworkers that i have to keep it clean anyway. but - she does start asking me questions about things i hadnt actually told her. kind of annoying.
do you not want to be her friend because you have things on there you dont want her to see? or do you just think youre too cool to be friends with your mom? im friends with my mom and my dads fiance on facebook, but they are the chill kind of parents who dont freak over status updates about smoking joints and what not.
I'm sorry so many people are unsubscribing from you over this. I completely understand where you are coming from.
I accepted my mom's friend request on Facebook, and now, she calls me and asks me about pictures she sees on me and my friend's profiles. She also assumes that the girl in my display picture is my girlfriend, and she asks me questions about it all the time, even though I told her that I'm gay.
So yeah, don't add your mom. You don't need the invasion of privacy. You're grown. :)
hahaha, my mom is on my facebook, Myspace and subbed to my Youtube! I just love her support, she's going to love you no matter what and you shouldn't feel "Violated" . You're a big boy and she knows that, she just wants to be more apart of your life.....look at me, the mommy talking :D.
It might seem awkward having your mom as a "friend," but only because you might feel more constrained about posting things you know she will be reading. I rarely ever use my facebook, but my mom did friend me last week and I friended her back. That's mostly because I don't updated my facebook. =) Anyway, she just deleted her facebook because she got creeped out by thinking about people knowing her personal life and info. Maybe you can scare your mom straight and she'll delete hers, too! =)
Funny watching this, the DJ on the radio station was just saying how he's going to have to quit Facebook because his mom just added him. LOL
My mom just started using Facebook, so when she requested me I added her. I really don't use it much, I use Twitter and Youtube more. She knows I'm on those sites but she doesn't "get" them so she leaves me alone there.
My parents are seriously nosey and always want to know what I'm doing. They like to search for me on social networking sites and look at what I have there, it's so annoying. :(
My dad and step-mom happened to find me on facebook, and I figure no harm could be done with them...But I refuse to let my mom add me...I don't want a typhoon of her friends swarming my inbox just because I met them once when they were drunk on New Years...
I added my mom on facebook, in fact I was the one that got her hooked. BOY do I regret it now, now she is stalking me and she will go in into friends of friends pages to get information too. So now I'm holding back, so then she like "you are not doing anything on facebook anymore" And I can't de-friend her. I glad she not on the youtube!!
I ignore my mom's request. But for some reason, my cousins got the bright idea to make my grandmother a facebook. And my grandmother spams emails like no one's business, so now I have my mother and grandmother blocked.
My mom and my friends mom added me on facebook. It makes me sad :(. Don't accept it you'll regret it. j.s xD I was stupid and accepted both requests. :/
Okay so either she is gonna stalk you or not... but really your mom should know what's going on in your life. So I see no problem adding your mom I mean you're a grown man, it doesn't matter. If you were a teen like myself then it would be social suicide! lol Do what you think is right though! Thank God my parents are 80 lol adopted FTW!
both my mom and my dad added me on facebook, and I accepted.. i had too .. but before i deleted anything they would disagree with.. blah.. now i monitor everything i say!
Nooo I'm not friends with them, and I wouldn't add my mom or dad if they added me. Thank God they don't have facebook! You're not being a jerk at all :)
LOL aww yea my mom tried to add me too. And I used to have her on my myspace before i deleted that. But yea i just told her that i wasnt gonna add her "because its not cool" and "the other kids dont have to add their parents" lmao but yea i just explained to her why and she stopped bugging me about it
I was a little uneasy about adding my Mom to my Facebook, just because I felt like she would semi-stalk me through it because we live far apart... AND SHE DID. I know exactly how you feel though. Before adding my Mom I could post whatever I wanted on there, and it was cool. Now I feel like I have to censor myself because I don't want my Mom knowing certain things, and I feel like I've lost some privacy from her since adding her. It's hard to explain, but I know how you feel.
my mom is under the impression that the monitor IS the computer. she doesnt even know what the big black box on the floor is for... so i dont have to worry about it.
If I had my parents on there, it would be creepy. Luckily, they are into computers much. More creepy is talking to elementary school teachers through facebook. lol!
I said no to my mum and she grounded me

I think "I'd rather actually keep in touch with you than Facebook keep in touch with you." might have smoothed over the conversation :-p
Facebook is great for keeping in touch with people you "kind of" know, where a phone call might be awkward, but allows you to stay in touch.
Parents can, and should be more of a direct contact thing I would think. Why remove the personal connection with your parents?
