yea maybe but la micheal ain't or was the fastest guy in college look at Jeffrey Demps played ball and hes winning championships in track so it depends on the person not the sport
@sevjag5 true but marvin bracy ran 10.05 and has another year to break a junior world record which is 10.01. jeff demps ran 10.01 and had another year for junior world record but bulked up for football. and anyway lamichael isnt exactly the fastest football player out there
LaMichael had terrible form. His arm was swinging all over the place. Mabye that was the camera angle, but damn. Still ran a low 10 i would guess. He shows his skills on the football field however so you can't hate.
I play football and run track. A race is a race no matter where it is. LaMichael James just lost and I'm sure Ahmad Rashad would beat him in a race on the field also.
James is fast as fuck, don't get me wrong. But what was up with his form in this race? It was terrible.. I've seen other track videos of him and he does just fine. He ran this as if he was on the field running the ball.. lol
@sevjag5 speed is speed....it's how fast u can get from point a to point b. if you wanna talk about what makes a difference on a football field there are other aspects that go into making a good player including acceleration, agility, and balance. but speed by definition is the same whether it is on a football field or on a track.
There's no such thing as "track speed" or "football speed". Speed is ONE measurable thing and it doesn't significantly change when you go from a synthetic polymer surface to grass. The difference between the sports is that football requires a variety of attributes not just speed. Acceleration, agility, balance, etc all can offset pure speed in terms of football. Lamichael James is a great football player because of a combination of those things, not because of "football speed".
Track specialists are generally by far faster than football players. Speed is speed, but being fast doesn't guarantee you will be a good football player, also having a fast 40yard dash, doesn't mean you'll be able to blaze out a 100m either. Both very specialized, including the physique you need for track and for football.
@TheDionStarnes lol, no worries. I used to play college football and am a huge fan of track and field and have run against and seen many speedsters, the legit track guys are just on another level, something most people don't appreciate. Having said that, the elite NFL guys could hang in the drive phase with some of the top guys, but after that, the race looks like this video. i wish they would do those superstars challenges again, but today's athletes are too prissy.
@TheAngeltoDemon Yeah, l used to watch those superstars challenges too when it was just seven events to choose from. I saw Mike Powell race against Don Beebe one year, then Mike Powell raced Herschel Walker the following year, then Mike Powell raced Eric Metcalfe the year after that. Mike Powell won all three races in exactly like you said: the football players are with the track athlete at the drive phase and even at the halfway point, but after that, the football player is left behind..

James had a bad race but he'll smoke them on the football field

also Lamichael lost this one so badly because he stood straight up out of the blocks therefore greatly hampering his ability to achieve top speed.

@sevjag5 Speed is speed theres a reason the second sport choice of basketball/football athletes is track and field
