Its pretty sad at some people view the homeless, especially a few of the commentors on this video. NOT ALL homeless are drunks, bums, drug users. Have you all heard the word.. INFLATION?? thats when the cost of living goes up, while pay doesnt!! I know quite a few homeless who have jobs.. they live in tents because of INFLATION!! they simply couldnt keep thier houses or apartments. Those who are choosing to follow the stereotype that all homeless are bums, druggies, ect, are the ignorant ones!!!
No one wants to rent out to drunks or crack/meth addicts now do they? So they're homeless and dont receive their full check. Just beg to support their habits which they cannot afford. Vancouver is so much worse!! Now BC is crunched for time trying to clean up the mess for 2010 hey, if thats what it takes for them to finally buckle down and seriously address the situation so be it. It's long over due and very ugly...
Junkies have places to live...herion and cocaine can only be afforded by lawyers, judges and politicians. Guess you aren't smart enough to realize the number of homeless that have jobs...just not homes. Or maybe you are afraid to admit that means they ARE the working class as well. Then you'd have to admit it's not because they're lazy, or addicts, it's that Banks keep selling people houses then stealing them back with inflated mortages.
Most homeless I've talked to would rather sleep on the ground with the possibillity of being attacked by junkies than stay in the shelters. Take a walk into st. link one day. Dispite best efforts of the voulenteers and staff, the bathrooms still have blood all over them. You go have a shower in there so you can go look for a job. Dare you!
The City of Victoria has removed themselves from creating subsidized housing many years ago. They do not want poor people in their city, or the homeless. I retired to Victoria four years ago, but I only stayed two years, and came back to Ontario. I could not adjust to socialism, or the fact I was flushing raw sewage directly into the ocean when I flushed the toilet. Once you look behond the flowers, Victoria is not such a great city to live in.
The "Real Solution" is to get them off of crack, and stop them from complaining about their lives. They are lucky we aren't a normal country that would kick their ass until they left. Vic hobos drove me nuts there ... if you can read you can hold a job.
YuLong9, None of the people on these videos are on crack. The crackheads are afraid of cameras and all run away. These people take care of the crackheads, make sure they eat, which unfortunately gives them more money in their pockets for crack. I agree with you about the normal country thing. If it was harder to get food, people would be trying harder to feed themselves and spend less time trying to find drugs. { Your first comment - What do they do at any protest?}

Btw ... a tent protest is perfect ... they don't have to DO anything ... just lay around and get high and eat ... yeah I said eat.
