Sister Rosetta Tharpe is to be trusted. She's almost forgotten, but I think she's one of the best female Gospel singers, despite we have Mahalia Jackson and other good ones.
I used to listen to music like this when I was younger. We had an old radio station out of Sioux Rapids, Ia that broadcasted nothing but the old songs. Ever heard of "Unshacked"? Anyway, would love to hear more of the old gospel songs if you have them. Thank you!!

I try to do as the radio station you mention, broadcast old Blues and Gospel. I'm a collector and I got my Grandpas' when he passed away. Mostly Blues and Gospel 1902 - 1943 ! My fav era, when it comes to music.

She was from Cotton Plant, Arkansas and spent her youth, starting at age 4, traveling to tent revivals and singing with her evangelist preacher mother, Katie Nubin. You might say she cut her teeth on this music. She was another citizen of "deepcreek".
