  • That would drive you up the wall!!!!

  • This is disgraceful! What the hell is he trying to play? Is it a crack flute....not the "craic" but crack.

  • This would sound considerably better if there wasn't so much reverb. Furthermore, we don't hear the music that leads up to it, which is like having the climax without any of the foreplay.

Matt Molloy has also done this sort of thing with the Chieftains (search other youtube videos) and it is entertaining and dazzling even if it's over the top.

  • Technique is nothing without soul....

which is why i would recommend listening

to MATT MOLLOY! The perfect balance of amazing

    technical prowess and emotion.

  • @ariakiss you know what's up my friend.

  • I have seen Solas play live 11 times since 1996 and Seamus has played this same solo since circa 1998. He's capable of so much on the flute. He is amazing but fer feck sake get some fresh tricks on the flute Seamus. It's a deep pool.

  • If I believed in God, I would call him Seamus.

  • my names seamus i live in sligo

  • hes better then any of u lot can play

  • Agreed...Seamus is a whole pile of talent, but this solo is crap.

  • I think it's just something wrong with recording speed. You can hear the same solo but little bit slower, and it sounds good. Video ID is S4_01UlYIvA and called "Solas i Moscó"

  • Not too much slower, really...

I like a good fast solo, but this IS getting ridiculous...

  • hear hear

  • Crap- where's the melody? Where's the lift. Seamus knows better. This is just garbage.

  • it my humble belief that whoever you are, you don't actually know shit.

  • It's in there. I've seen this notated.

  • @cocusflute lol, this is garbage. The mix is horrible aswell. Just a soup of flute notes...

  • @cocusflute And the sound quality doesn't help either!

  • @cocusflute In the context of the entire musical set (Bird), this piece makes more sense. Traditional Celtic tunes are often like this, with a repeated melody line geared more toward flow than structure. I've heard it twice live and it is truly a beautiful display of musicianship and skill. And as others have pointed out, the sound quality doesn't do justice to the precision and dexterity with which it is played.
