ahy, the catholic church has alot to answer for, Philameno told the story, so called nuns and priests wre to look after the children, we all know what happened, disgracefull, holy Ireland, how dare you!
I have an alternative mix of this song it sounds amazing and I can't seem to find it on Youtube, will I email it to you? Its of a radio interview with Phil Lynott, Dublin 1984. The album came from a bonus cd from the studio sessions of grand slam, I don't know if any of it is up on Youtube but it should be it has Phil talking about his songs as the interview is interrupted by Grand Slam demo's, anyway I'l send it to you if you want it.
I have the 2 disc studio sessions CD, as well as another disc with a few other "alternative" versions of some of the other songs. I eventually went ahead and combined all the Grand Slam demos and put them 2cdrs, both of which clock in at 65+ minutes. I've uploaded them online and can give you the links to download it you want. I also have a complete version of that same interview you mention, without the break ups. I think another user had posted it on here though.
As long as they're out there I'm happy. I'l probably get around to putting all this stuff on some blank cd's one of these days. You know if I ever get rich enough I'm going to buy the rights to all these unreleased songs and just put all them out there on some cheap cd's. Its a shame a load of rare Phil songs will never make it to a cd. Anyway in the meantime you have done and continue to do a fantastic job uploading all this and thanks for getting back to me.
It hurts my heart to know that way too few people know about this wonderful, wonderful song! It's one of the best one they ever made. Man,this is the tune I show Thin Lizzy-virgins! It's just incredible
Phil indicated in his last TV interview he was due to record a single with Gary Moore in January 1986 and it would have certainly been this song. It would be the 3rd single off his due solo LP after "19" and "One Wish" (which didn't get issued due to his tragic death).
A Lynot movie you serious!? That would be brilliant on a side note Phil was actually talked to by some movie producer guy to play as Jimi Hendrix in a movie about him but Phil got too deep with drugs and stuff would have been amazing though. I dont know how serious the movie guy was but he obviously found no one better than Phil otherwise he would of got someone else and it would be out now.
Dear mr blacksabfan, can you please upload the song talk behind my back from Philips solo album, please. Thx for keeping the legend, the man and the rocker alive.
I could, but it would probably be pointless as it would end up removed by YouTube. That's why 95% of the stuff I post is unofficial stuff, and the rest usually just gets some ads put on it.
I'm curious now...because even the live versions and other demo versions I have sound like this one. If you email me the track in question I could tell you straight away. Send me a message if you want and I'll give you my email.
I was born in the 60s, I was blooded on Thin Lizzy in the 70s & I'll go to the grave as a Lizzy/Phil Lynott fan.

brilliant tune shame about the lame production:( i think if phil was still alive he would still be going strong :( LONG LIVE LIZZY!!!!!!!!!!!
hunglikeayak 3 years ago
The guitar solo in this song is sooo fuckin' awesome, too bad that the production is so lame. But that is how it was back in the 80's...
Rip Phil!
NackaGymnasiumBasist 3 years ago
This was just a demo, that's why the production is poor. Amazingly Grand Slam were unable to get a record deal.

It truly is a shame they were seen as a "second-rate Thin Lizzy". They could have been huge

WOnderful - one of the greatest tracks by anyone ever... ! But is this from the Box Set???
BaboonBro 3 years ago 2
Yeah the "Vagabonds, Kings, Warriors, Angels" four-disc set. I have other versions too, but I wanted one up with good sound, and this was the best.
blacksabfan 3 years ago
Peculiar, because I have this box set and it sounds completely different. Is there an alternate box with a remixed rendition?
