@MrAssassinful Actually he's right. There are games on consoles which easily beat WoW. On PC its third after the Sims and Sims 2 - but those numbers are on the highest sub level which was at 12 million.

Dude I'm 30 and a web developer, I am in no way a 'kid'. However I a grew up I grew apart from people I knew in high school and called friends because as we matured we went down different roads. That isn't to say I don't keep in touch with none of them, I keep in touch with two.
However to me a friend isn't someone I "keep in touch with". A friend is someone who I can trust to have my back. I can count of my university friends too because we still do, even when ones in NZ.

That included 3 Air Force engineers, Troops now serving in Afghanistan (I was a guild with a lot of military personnel), a construction company owner, two high level IT experts - one which worked for Google, two doctors, one geologist, one Physicist and countless parents. Personally, I'm surprised the appeal of the reworked old zones wore off so quickly.
I don't even really know anything about the next expansion, other than it'll bring most of those people who have left back. It's a pattern.

Rift came out, and I haven't heard a peep out of it since shortly after it released. I suspect The Old Republic will attain the same result. (Though it is, well, Bioware)
Will these games suck? Hell no. But WoW has built many strong communities over the past 6 years, and that's not going away for at least a few more.

@MrAssassinful Actually he's right. There are games on consoles which easily beat WoW. On PC its third after the Sims and Sims 2 - but those numbers are on the highest sub level which was at 12 million.
Blizzard never released the total amount of units sold.

@brennanhom yes because quantity of friends rather than quality is important... oh no wait no it isn't. Its better to have to have 5 friends that will stick with you through thick and thin and actually HELP rather than 40 that will fucking disappear at the first sign of trouble.
The kids right anyway. Knew lot of people in highshcool - had a lot of friends. After high school most moved, never kept in touch.
Its better to make friends through your hobbies that are your area.

Dude I'm 30 and a web developer, I am in no way a 'kid'. However I a grew up I grew apart from people I knew in high school and called friends because as we matured we went down different roads. That isn't to say I don't keep in touch with none of them, I keep in touch with two.
However to me a friend isn't someone I "keep in touch with". A friend is someone who I can trust to have my back. I can count of my university friends too because we still do, even when ones in NZ.

That included 3 Air Force engineers, Troops now serving in Afghanistan (I was a guild with a lot of military personnel), a construction company owner, two high level IT experts - one which worked for Google, two doctors, one geologist, one Physicist and countless parents. Right now I know a couple who are expecting their first kid.
Oh and then there's me, the web developer.

But from my perspective and a few others in my community its lost a lot of its appeal. Ive played it since Bc and i loved it but i think some of the things they have implemented are just horrible they basically spoon feed people now you could be a pretty bad player and still have the best stuff and i think thats just unfair to people who do put in the effort.

@murdurdollz I agree with you, for the most part. I still think that WoW's most outstanding feature is its community -- WoW is one of those few games that, if you play it just long enough, you'll find that niche group of friends you love to play the game with every day.
Personally, I'm surprised the appeal of the reworked old zones wore off so quickly.
I don't even really know anything about the next expansion, other than it'll bring most of those people who have left back. It's a pattern.

@shadowdragonx2 Hey, ya never know. People talk about these other MMOs that come out that will totally wreck whomever's on top. WoW came out, and RuneScape is still the top MMORPG. Rift came out, and I haven't heard a peep out of it since shortly after it released. I suspect The Old Republic will attain the same result. (Though it is, well, Bioware)
Will these games suck? Hell no. But WoW has built many strong communities over the past 6 years, and that's not going away for at least a few more.

Yes, I will say, Cataclysm eventually got lackluster. I think the 4.3 PvE content will definitely spice things up though; finally, Dragonblight again! And snow!
