If that still doesn't work, lock the padlock, and press the shackle down. "further shutting" it for lack of a better term. Kind of difficult to diagnose. Some padlocks are what they call key retaining. Which means unless the lock is fully closed the key won't come out. I would try opening the lock and closing it a couple times. And see if that works. Just make sure the shackle is fully pressed in. In the lock position.
Is there a way to get a key out of a padlock? Went in smoothy, but now it's stuck. Still turns okay and will move in and out a bit, but not more than a millimeter of play.
