Oh, it's the Heaven's Gate crowd. I remember; there was a comet in the night time sky and a star was shining through the tail. They believed it was a spaceship and by committing suicide, they would go to the spaceship.

Invalid analogy is one such fallacy - Columbus did was not searching for something transcendant - he was searching for INDIA! His motive was money. Geez people, read a little.

Hi I find cults a fascinating part of humanity!, America (especially California) is world leader in them. In some they don't have to be physically isolated from society, Pennsylvania has produced a well-known cult with millions of members that's been going since late 1800's, lives in society but separate themselves 'spiritually' (really sad I think). And all cults have that same 'denial thing' in common where they are scared of negative thinking about their cult. I'm in the UK

The phrase: "you must eliminate your toxic mind", and "it's your ego which is the root source of all your problems" The ego is bad news for cult leadership, when the ego is dis-empowered, the dependency for the leadership is increased, and with it comes enslavement.

It seems the Masters approach is to 'invert' perception, as a disguise. This is like the Heaven's Gate: "it would be suicide NOT to die" implanted suggestion.

In the meantime it does seem obvious that individuals who are 'meek' and 'sheep like' tend to be followers of organised religion and are more likely to 'stay in the fold' when they are spiritually abused, often over many decades. Often these people will be looking forward to an end of the world that they are conditioned to fear and hate. The saviour is via a 'higher power' of some kind, i.e. aliens / jesus / allah etc.

Roy Masters' organization is an incredibly sophisticated type of cult, because it doesn't look like a cult at all. The mind control that results from the meditation makes the typical type of "brainwashing" seem very crude in comparison. It is very subtle and dangerous, because it is impossible for the practitioner to recognize it.

With the early chinese/korean 'brainwashing', the subject directly interacted with the 'enemy', to this adversary, the TrueSelf of the person experienced as a predator. Later evolution, the 'enemy' became a personified adversary, such as 'the devil', and a CultSelf became added part of the subject's persona. Evolution continues.....

Fascinating!! With Masters, the "enemy" is the human ego, which Roy demonizes and says it's an evil identity that possesses you when you experience trauma or upset at an early age. The purpose of the meditation is to expose the ego to "the light of consciousness" and allow this "light" to literally "kill" the ego. The concenpt of ego death was also taught by Charles Manson, and everyone knows the result of that.

Masters also performs "exorcisms" of this "demon" called ego.
