Oh, it's the Heaven's Gate crowd. I remember; there was a comet in the night time sky and a star was shining through the tail. They believed it was a spaceship and by committing suicide, they would go to the spaceship.
They were an incredibly clueless bunch. That woman with the short, black hair sounded especially clueless. You can't stop clueless simpletons from being simple. If it hadn't been Heaven's Gate, they would have died or wasted their lives in some other really pointless ways.
These people suffer from stupidity. These are some of the same types targetd by Socrates. I am an engineer. I put peoples statements into a kind of schematic - I can see their logical fallacies. Invalid analogy is one such fallacy - Columbus did was not searching for something transcendant - he was searching for INDIA! His motive was money. Geez people, read a little.
Perhaps the gene pool is better without these sad people.
Hi Marcbarker, brainwashing and thought control are everywhere. It´s very easy to manipulate our social instincts. I am a fan of silent invasions kind of movies, like Body snatchers, Manchurian Candidate... but which movie is the one clips are taken from? Thanks a lot.
Interestingly, most cults members are programmed to believe that 'satan', working through 'demons', will have no qualms about using 'torture' to try and get the cult member away from god, a few cults specifically mention electric shock
Hi I find cults a fascinating part of humanity!, America (especially California) is world leader in them. In some they don't have to be physically isolated from society, Pennsylvania has produced a well-known cult with millions of members that's been going since late 1800's, lives in society but separate themselves 'spiritually' (really sad I think). And all cults have that same 'denial thing' in common where they are scared of negative thinking about their cult. I'm in the UK
mainstream religions, even Catholicism Mormonism and Scientology have continually had to reinvent themselves to conform to social zeigest. With so much space to hide as well as an general attitude of personal rights and a hatred of governmental interference especially with matters of 'faith', cults thrive. It is only because of the publicity of the Texas raids and the imbarrisment of a National Geographic documentary that New Mexico were forced to go after Wayne (what's his face.)
Wayne Bent? To separate from his real self he goes by the name of michael travasser. As humanity progresses, the central cult leader figure is replaced by committees instead, naturally of course they consider their committee as the only one being 'led by god'.
marcbarker You are right up on this cult stuff. What are you looking to do, start one of your own? Make it so there is lots of free sex with good looking young women and I'll join up.
The phrase: "you must eliminate your toxic mind", and "it's your ego which is the root source of all your problems" The ego is bad news for cult leadership, when the ego is dis-empowered, the dependency for the leadership is increased, and with it comes enslavement.
It seems the Masters approach is to 'invert' perception, as a disguise. This is like the Heaven's Gate: "it would be suicide NOT to die" implanted suggestion.
i dont get it? why is the dependency for leadership increased with a "dis-empowered" ego... i would have thought this empowers your higher self, to do what you truly feel.. as opposed to what your ego desires.
Hi wanderlei169 Interesting, please explain more about your viewpoint.
In the meantime it does seem obvious that individuals who are 'meek' and 'sheep like' tend to be followers of organised religion and are more likely to 'stay in the fold' when they are spiritually abused, often over many decades. Often these people will be looking forward to an end of the world that they are conditioned to fear and hate. The saviour is via a 'higher power' of some kind, i.e. aliens / jesus / allah etc.
Roy Masters' organization is an incredibly sophisticated type of cult, because it doesn't look like a cult at all. The mind control that results from the meditation makes the typical type of "brainwashing" seem very crude in comparison. It is very subtle and dangerous, because it is impossible for the practitioner to recognize it.
I've just changed the title from "...has evolved" to "...still evolving"
With the early chinese/korean 'brainwashing', the subject directly interacted with the 'enemy', to this adversary, the TrueSelf of the person experienced as a predator. Later evolution, the 'enemy' became a personified adversary, such as 'the devil', and a CultSelf became added part of the subject's persona. Evolution continues.....
Fascinating!! With Masters, the "enemy" is the human ego, which Roy demonizes and says it's an evil identity that possesses you when you experience trauma or upset at an early age. The purpose of the meditation is to expose the ego to "the light of consciousness" and allow this "light" to literally "kill" the ego. The concenpt of ego death was also taught by Charles Manson, and everyone knows the result of that.
Masters also performs "exorcisms" of this "demon" called ego.
That's 'Do' Applewhite, the guy who believed himself to had discovered 'the truth' above all other truths. With his freinds they were on a search for truth, and they believed he had a head start. They called they new light that they found, the 'real truth', they were so absolutely sure that this 'real truth' would set them free, that they took an extreme leap of faith to prove they were so sure of this real truth. They believed that Jesus did exactly the same thing 2000 years ago. They died
Idk but I have no idea what this video is about! I guess something about Brainwashing....but I don't get the video..

This problem is occurring at universities. Church is the first place people are brainwashed. Universities are the second place.

Cults are quite easy to start, when you know how, also many leaderships were previously in a cult before!
If I do, you're welcome to join to further the cause and carry out the 'work', ... but of course, only if you so desire to do so ;-)
