Dan did die. The last 15 minutes of the series finale Roseanne explains that Dan died last year after the heart attack. She is writing a book and she changed it in the book because she couldn't face the fact that he was gone. They also never won the lottery and Darlene actually married Mark and Becky was with David. She liked it the other way around so that is how she wrote it for the book.

I don't think utilizing the opportunity presented by Mother's day to fulfill their desire to attend a concert was bad per...It was more so that they did not find spending time with their mother, or their mother's attachment to the same idea at all important.

If they could have nicely melded their ulterior motive to take advantage of their mother's good mood/love with actual "wanted" (on their part) bonding time, I would have said they were not guilty.
