@electricblue7 I think you got a GREAT deal. I paid 3,000 for my new bike in 07. However, my bike has 5,600 miles on it so our milage is about the same (unless you mean it has 67,000 miles...can't tell by your question as you state it has 6,7000 miles...I assume you meant 6,700). As long as it was garage or shed kept and doesn't have rust on it and has been properly stored. In addition, I would have the bike fully checked over by a qualified mechanic before purchase. Hope this helps.
@yellow7233 I use to own a motorcycle accessories shop and I got them through Parts Unlimited. Just about ANY motorcycle shop orders from them. Also you could find them online by doing a google search for "jardine slash cut pipes." Good luck in your search.
My 25 year old Rebel doesn't have any cool accessories like your spiffy watch. I had to make my own. Well, I got a metal holster I made up myself for a sawed of shotgun. Oil canister with valve for dumping used motor oil from a canister into exhaust for smoke. PVC pipes cut short, mounted vertically in a rack along tank, like you see as a shotgun accessory to hold shells, but to hold pipe bombs. Some big wire cutters for cutting barb wire fences. Bag off roof nails to use like caltrops.
@Nightwithe If you are 6 foot 5 .. This bike is awful small for your frame. Low to the ground and will get you around but you will be sitting low to the ground.
Did you have any trouble keeping these pipes on your bike? Have you had any problems with the mounting brackets buzzing through? Broken bolts? Did your pipes come with rubber bushings or washers to mount with? Mine have been a real pain in my hunch.Still trying to work it out with Jardine.
I didn't have a problem at all. These were installed 3 years ago and I have put about 4-6,000 miles on it since installation. I cannot remember what mounting hardware came with it but a lot of people forget to put gasket seal around the head. If your problem is pipe mounting have you considered going to a hardware store and getting some additional bolts that may be a better fit? Just a thought. Hope this helps.
I want a clock and that thing who shows .. I dont remember what it was called again but it stands from 1000 to 11.000 normally and from 11.000 its red. I dont remember the english word of it but Im sure you know what I mean.
What is the top speed of Honda Rebel and Honda Shadow? also Kawasaki Vulcan 500 , Suzuki boulevard S40, S50, Yamaha Vstar 250, Vstar custom? i intend to buy but dont know what kind of . i prefer kawasaki vulcan 500 and honda rebel. i think about midsize bike
i'm living in CA and the max speed is 70mph ; my ideal top speed is 90 or100mph. i dont really need a bike too big cuz i'm 5' 7 and 160lbs. so i want to ride a bike that i can handle, i'm beginner as well. anyone know please recommend.
What is the top speed of Honda Rebel and Honda Shadow? also Kawasaki Vulcan 500 , Suzuki boulevard S 40, S 50, Yamaha V star 250 and V star custom? . i intend to buy but dont know what kind of . i prefer kawasaki vulcan 500 and honda rebel. my ideal top speed is 90-100mph. i dont really a bike too big cuz i'm 5' 7 and 160lbs . so i want to ride a bike that i can handle , i'm beginner as well. anyone know please recommend.
I cannot speak on behalf of these other bikes listed. However, the Honda Rebel is a GREAT beginner's bike. It's top speed is about 75-80 MPH and you probably wouldn't want to take it on an extended trip on the interstate. It is fantastic for around town and some highway cruising. I highly recommend you start with this bike and move up to the bigger bikes later. These bikes hold a great resale value. Hope this helps and be careful out there!
@mxkingy thank you very much for recommending. i used to ride a moped , but i never ride a shift bike. so i think i have alil bit experience. ah i just commute I15 100 miles from house to school and back every day.
i had a vstar classic as my first bike. Great bike! would recommend it above the others. Top speed is well over highway speeds and it is a great lookin bike. The 650 puts out alot more power than you think without all the weight of the big bore cruisers. Also handles amazing.
side note... would not recomend anything smaller than the 650. It may sound like its to much as a beginner but it is not! The 500's and lower will get old FAST! Your gonna want a bike good for learning and then crusing around on once your comfortable... the v star offers both and its also very upgradable and customizable
thats an awsome bike im thinking about getting a rebel or a shadow. can anyone tell me wich one would be better for long rides? or if those bikes are not what i should be looking for if i wanna road trip on it haha
These bikes are great for around town and some highway cruising. However, stay off the interstate. These bikes just aren't powerful enough and don't weigh enough to keep from being blown all over. Just from my experience anyway.
Rebels are very nice bikes and they are great for around town trips. You CAN do highways with them, but they lack the power to stay out of trouble sometimes. You should be able to do 75-80mph with little trouble...it just takes awhile to get up to speed =)
hey man awesome rebel! I love the tachometer, where did you get it? I have a '99 rebel ca250t, as far as i'm aware its from the japanese market and is virtually the same as the cmx250 rebel but has staggered pipes down one side as stock and is slightly faster, though not by much..I have jardine pipes on the way plus new grips, mirrors and chromed electrical housing hehe i'm so exited :D
are the jardine's an easy install? (sorry to ramble)
I absolutely love the Suzuki TU250x. It is so cool looking with it's retro style. I'm not really sure there is any pros or cons vs. the Rebel. It's all in the styling. I just love both bikes. Awesome!
Perfect bike to begin your entry into the wonderful world of riding. Yes, it can handle a passenger. However, this bike is not great for the freeways and long trips. Although, I do take mine on two hour jaunts now and then. Keep this in mind before buying.
Thanks a lot King. Good information. I'm at a slight crossroads right now between the Suzuki TU250x and the Rebel. Regarding the Suzuki, what are the pro's/con's of having only a one cylinder engine?
You can ride a passenger on it fine but like any bike I would not want to get into a wreck with a passenger on. It can go 100mph which is way faster than you want to go on it. 85 on the interstate to keep up with traffic is quite scary, but maybe thats the same for any motorbike. Its a light bike so crosswinds can blow you around above 50mph. On the plus side, you regularly get 85mpg, and mine is 25 years old. People say its not good for the interstate because crazy cars that do 90mph.
Pipes are turning blue at the head. Thats a clear indication of a lean carb setting. Try jetting the carb or adding a shim to the needle. Just my 2 cents. Oh and i like that sissy bar.
I'm planning on getting my first bike this spring and right now the Rebel's the front-runner for my consideration. My only concern is that I'm 6'4, so I don't know if a lower-sitting bike is the best thing for me...
Very nice bike and cool upgrades I was really considering getting a tach. Do you know the red line on this motor and also the pipes should fit on a 2000 rebel right?
There is no red line on this tach. Typically, red line occurs at 6,500 RPM on most engines. As for the pipes, they will fit on a 2000 Rebel. Thanks for the kind words.
Love this bike.
