@manbir26 Well, I don't think he's a bad choice anymore. This video was made immediately after the draft, almost a year ago. Kadri will be a good player for us soon.
Well, this was my reaction before the free agency period and I decided not to change it even with the moves we made, giving my reaction to the moves in another video. But we could have gotten Cowen instead of one of those guys (like Beauchemin). Yeah he's young, but he's most likely going to develop to be better than Exelby, Beauchemin and Komisarek.
how many times have you seen these players play?? kadri is one of the most skilled players in the ohl! you said get someone with hands have u seen this kid he has the sickest hands in the ontario hockey league you need to actually see these players before you comment... the number one rule is dont comment on a player unless you've seen them play
Fair enough... you're right I haven't seen him play. And he can score some points. Like I said, I mellowed a bit, and he's not the worst pickup. But I was saying I wanted a more complete player. Meaning a guy like Schenn. Scoring, hitting, fighting, everything. A guy like that is captain material. We haven't had a player like that in TO in a long time.
i have played agianst/withkadri since a very young age he has always been very small and immature but kadri has what you call the unteachables vision, scoring, playmaking those are things that cannot be taught he however does not have stregnth but that will come with age he will get bigger and stronger but will pass the players that simply have size you have to remember the leafs have no scoring at this point this was a very good pick....believe me jared cowan is no luke schenn not even close!
I'm not saying cowen is another Luke Schenn, but he will be a rock solid defenseman for years. I do hope Kadri gets bigger, but people also said that Anton Stralman would add bulk.
As for the Leafs having no scoring.... have you even followed the Leafs this year? We finished 10th in the league in goals for, it was goals against that killed us!
3rd liner? This kid's supposed to be a sniper. Burying him on the 3rd line wouldn't help at all. On your third line you want energy guys, not a kid who's supposed to have this flashy scoring touch.
I don't quite see what you're getting at in that blog. "Kadri is one-dimensional". So is Tavares, and a lot of Leafs fans would jump at the opportunity to have him.
I also don't get anyone that thinks he prefers to shoot before pass. Kadri is an amazing playmaker.
Anyways, if the Leafs are in this position next year, I hope that we get John MacFarland to play alongside Kadri, that would be fucking amazing.
I just would've preferred someone who is a more complete player. Schenn: The full package. Hitting, fighting, scoring. Kadri: A reputation as a puck-hogging centre. I think Glennie is a more complete player, so is Jared Cowen. I would have preferred either of them. And while Tavares may be one-dimensional, he's the best in his dimension. Breaking Gretzky's OHL scoring record isn't easy.
I understand, Brayden would have been THE perfect fit. But I don't understand where everyone is getting this "puck-hogging center" thing from. He's a playmaker that plays all three forward positions well, and he had quite a number of beautiful assists in the OHL. Infact, his assist column doubles his goals.
Honestly, Cowen may seem like a sure thing, but I'm certainly glad we didn't pick him up. He's got that wonky knee, and there's a huge logjam on the blueline now anyways.
Well, Cowen has injured his knee once. I wouldn't say that it makes him injury prone as everyone seems to think. Every athlete gets injured at least once in their career, it's just unfortunate Cowen injured his knee in a draft year.
As for Kadri, I heard that he was a puck-hogger from Pierre MacGuire during the TSN draft coverage. If you watch MapleLeafsUnofficial's "Live Draft Footage" of Nazem Kadri getting drafted, he says it there.
Yeah but blowing out your knee at such a young age is hard to bounce back from.
I've heard that Kadri over-stickhandles at times, but prefers to pass before shooting. Very similiar to Grabovski.
I realize C1N3M4 (I think that's his YouTube name)'s Kadri video is a highlight reel, but on many of those plays, it looks as though he's more willing to pass than shoot. It's a great video, I'd highly suggest it.
you still think Kadri with 93 points, was a bad choice ?

I've also heard from someone on Leafspace who's seen Kadri play that most of his assists came from shots that missed the net.
