can anyone get this working on Windows 7? I've heard some say Dosbox but I've tryed and sence i own the Collectors CD i heard that doesn't work with Dos. i've tryed a supposedly modified version but it didn't do a damn thing. i always get a error on the start up trying to install.
@stormtrooperge Hi yes can get them working youtube won't let me post the website so i'll type if

@stormtrooperge and also google LucasFiles - XWA All-resolution and you can get the fonts patch for X-wing alliance if the text is scrambled during the game.
A pity the sound is a bit distorted, the effects are on, but the music is about a minute ahead of what it should be, this its the visuals that are slowed.
@skepticalsinner The Windows 95 Collector's Edition "rescored" it by substituting the game's original score for selections from the movie soundtracks, removing the groundbreaking (at the time) iMUSE reactive sound system in the process.
There is, on a certain famous torrent site, a repackaged Tie Fighter install version that works PERFECTLY on windows 7 x64. The site starts with a D...
@AtheistActivist they were imperial-made ships to escort minor convoys and have something more practical than SD's, but the rebels captured many of them too. saw that on wookiepedia ^^
theres a big flop with this intro: Since when coruscant is blue??? Also the planet where the station is being attacked looks like the same as "blue" coruscant, which indicate that the devs where quite lazy, and used the same model for the entire intro.
At least, the original intro showed coruscant structures from orbit, and featured different planets, not to speak better explosions.
@Vyylandra Or maybe it was made in 1994, and this was the first time you ever actually saw coruscant. This was probably based on the coruscant of the zahn novels, which don't give a clear impression of what it looked like but seem to have visible landmasses, mountains and oceans. the planet wide city coruscant, based on the original concepts of alderaan/had abbadon didn't appear until the special editions in 97.
@sumbuddyx the whole planet wide city version of coruscant that you see in the prequels was first shown in the dark empire comics. george lucas conciders them the true 'sequel trilogy' to the original star wars movies 'the scene of anakin crash landing grevious' ship on coruscant was actually done first by luke with an imperial ship in the dark empire comics if i remember right'. i've never read the whole thing so i need to eventually track the paperbacks down one day.
WHY WHY WHY cant they make games like this anymore like really wtf
seems like alot of the gaming industries passion is dead...then again it could not be more alive its just why can't they make a new tie fighter game and not fuck it up?
i guess the force unleashed II is more important btw first one good worth keeping second one blows
Finally the damn rebel insurgency will be put down. Rebels are a bunch of terrorists who have no respect for law. They destroyed Alderaan in an effort to frame the empire... Alderaan by the way wasn't a peaceful planet it was heavily armed, which is typical, Rebels always hide behind human shields like the scum they are. Ontop of that Princess Leia was not on a diplomatic mission at the start of a new hope she was smuggling stolen classified information, she's a criminal plain and simple.
@ObamaBiden20082012 No mercy was shown to our brave comrades on the Death Star! No mercy will be shown here! By order of his Excellency Emperor Palpatine, the Rebel terrorists will be hunted to the last man! Join the Imperial Forces today! Fight for a future of peace, justice and order!
@MsDetroitMan117 Well said!! The Rebels always talk a big game about so called "innocent" people but what about all the innocent people their silly little rebellion is killing? The best way to save innocent lives is peace, justice and order, not rebel anarchy. I'd be honored to put a blaster ray through the head of so called "princess" Laia, by the way, I thought they believed in Democracy... how than is she a Princess? REBELS ARE TOTAL HYPOCRITS!
@ObamaBiden20082012 I heard rumors of new Rebel named Skywalker even thinks he's a Jedi! The last thing we need is another elitist dictatorial Force user running around. Only our glorious Emperor deserves Force powers to rule justly and fairly. Lord Vader will deal with this impudent whelp personally.
it has been a long time since i last played this game and i finally found it but my damn computer won't install the game, but don't know about rebel assault. anyways i keep on dieing in this game
there´s another issue with this intro: Coruscant isnt a blue planet, but a city planet. The first intro clearly showed artificial features construtions viewed from space.
@Azorean2100 This has probably been said about a million time, but Thrawn's uniform is wrong. He was vice-admiral at the time, yet in intro he has his white uniform on, which only grand admirals have right to use. I've heard there is red version of grand admirals uniform, which was used by Ysanne Isard, but i've never seen it on anyone else.

We need a new X-Wing game, for consoles and PC. Especially PS3! And with multiplayer and single player mode! It's just really, really needed. And bring back the Dark Forces series too!!! Nothing has really satisfied my classic OT Star Wars apetite for many years now!! Force Unleashed and Battlefront was good, but nothing was as enjoyable as the old games in the 90's.
PC...and old ones at that. A console version might work, but the controls of the game were so complex that something would have to be removed. (It used most of the F keys and much of the rest of the keyboard as well).
You're right. The music in this video runs a lot faster than the visuals. The Imperial March theme at 3:12 should underscore the Tie Fighter title screen at 4:05.
i've already got my old machine (p1 166 mmx on 250, 32mb ram with hercules dynomite) exectly to play this game! :) the music is not too good in this video. sound better with gravis! by the way, there is a win95 version of tie fighter too, should run on your xp machine
