  • Crash bars

  • I flipped a 750 honda nighthawk end for end in the mid 90's and I layed there in shock, but luckily I was riding with a group. I can still remember landing in front of the guys gararage and he came out and said, "Did you just have a wreck?" We still laugh about that. A thick leather jacket and helmet saved my life. Except a little gravel in my knee, I was ok.

  • Good lesson learn, I have just rode my KLR last few day in the cold weather too. It was fun still just a little cold. Watch out for ice on the road. I'm in MN. Enjoy Suckin Winter !!! lo.

  • I agree, handle bar steering is oh fuck.

  • this is not klr...this is kle500

  • @ptso34 Fvck off troll

  • @ptso34 no its a klr 650e after 2007 edition

  • well that's a bit rude... not only did that crash cost you money, it killed the money you needed to repair it!

  • wtf? Rename this vid HOW TO CASTRATE YOURSELF in two easy steps... stick a knife in your pocket, get on your bike and head for the sludge! Why would you do that???

  • thats a nice pocket knife!

  • Mannnn.....that's nearly a 15 feet skid marks on the road. What was his spped when slipped???

  • dude you look like ya just fell asleep on ya bike ? your gloves just fell off ! what a dumb ass

  • looks like he simply fell over,,what a dumb ass...lmfao

if he wants to ride on the street he should get a street bike not a modified dirt bike

good thing he was ok though

  • @ace1sod good to see you are well informed enough to comment. A klr isnt a modified dirt bike, its sold perfectly road legal.

  • Spyderco Tenacious, good knife. That guy that pulled up later seemed a little patronizing to the poor guy, and is he also a UC or something? "Try to not get my face"??? Keep your helmet on if you don't want to be filmed you self-aggrandizing douche.

  • oh fuck!!! jajajajajaj

  • I see your point, well taken.Im glad he didnt go down in front of heavy traffic.

  • thankfully Mr scratchy in a KLR is not a big deal, specially being a bad ass bike

  • Comment removed

  • @NAMTRIP And these kind of stupid comments come up when someone doesnt watch the whole video.

  • @boom100060 I am glad he didnt get hurt,I took down the "Stupid Comments" What would you like for me to say? I watched the video,at least 10 times, and It still looks like the bar jerked a little, and he chunked his bike to the ground,No rain, smooth road, low speeds,no one on the brakes in front of him,I dont know.

  • @NAMTRIP Well still im sure you just watched the crash 10 times and not the video.

    3:44

  • For sale by owner...never laid down!!

  • yeah glad that never happens to me oh that reminds me to ride to get my battery charged lol

  • dude when u picked up the knife it reminded me of call of duty

  • Not sure what brand those pants are, but looks like a Joe Rocket tag? If so, no way I would buy those. That speed was probably 30-35mph and it tore them up that bad? Looks like a false sense of protection.

  • Ive watched it over, and over, and over, and still cant figure out why he would pitch his bike down like that,he didnt even try to save it,he just threw it down,Crazy man, just Crazy.Ive got more time riding in the rain, than most have riding period, thats why it bothers me,I cant see why it happened.

  • Sucks man, he did exactly what I'd do though if I dropped my bike, stare at it for a long ass time. I don't think i've move for at least 20 minutes because of how bummed I'd be dropping it.

  • Why the hell would you care about your face being on youtube?

  • cool

  • hes so damn lucky his foot didnt get crushed and dragged when it fell over. it could have been a disaster.

  • i mean jeesh look at the video like hes riding in the dam puddle hydroplaning in the bike lane come on get real lol

  • @SBARTSTV I'm sure he intended to stop, and as soon as he grabbed the front brakes it locked on him.

  • bro if you cant be handling crossing a puddle in the middle of the road going at 30 mph lol

  • I know you around the K.C. area... So if you or your KLR buddy ever want another partner send me a message. I ride a KLR... live in Lawrence... Peace, and happy riding

  • @Lonewolf161616 They might be up for it, I have moved out of KC though. Check out DodgeRider26

  • Thumbs up for wearing proper protective gear.

  • @jamie191817 No. I like to ride completely naked at 90mph.

  • I'm just learning to ride, and was wondering if you could tell me what you are using to record this video? Is it a micro camera strapped to your helmet, like, rigged? Or is it something you buy for doing this? Thanks for any imput soon as you can get it to me. Be safe

  • A great video about how you should NOT be riding. Always be LOOKING FOR and AVOIDING hazards, to AVOID the crash... like that water right next to the curb... etc, etc... that was a dumb place to be riding. Head has to always be in the game.

  • Gravity wins again :) Hope you allright bro

  • Not a big dealio

  • Spyderco Tenacious?

  • I suppose thats not the right way to countersteer.?

  • so counter steering.........

  • I've low sided a few time and that sucks. I've even high sided which really sucked. i always wear my helmet and riding gear. I walked away bruised and scraped but I ride another day.

  • That is a very intelligent guy that showed up. He knew what he was talking about

  • Ouch... I cringed when I watched this. I am glad your friend and the bike are okay. I was even happier to see that he had his gear on and that it did its job. It sucks when you tear it up but at least its skin. thanks for sharing. I am now very aware not to ride the KLR next to the curb with slippery mud.

  • As long both rider & bike are ok, thats the main thing! By the way, nice bike, good choice.

Fair weather & a safe journey....& stay upright! Cheers.

  • @TakeThatVictory Since when was a KLR a sport bike?

  • @Iroquois14 LOL! You see, people on Bobbers think that KLR 650s are 'rockets'! How slow does your bike have to be before you call a KLR a rocket? It makes me shudder to even think about it.

  • If he thinks a Klr 650 is a crotch rocket, Id hate to see his definition of a bobber

  • @TakeThatVictory At any rate. Its not the sport bike thats the problem. ANY bike would have felt loose going over that stuff especially with the watter mud mix.. i bet a cruiser wouldn't have faired too well with it ether.

  • @TakeThatVictory You're absolutely right man! Its a good thing I dont ride crotch rockets like KLR's or DR650's... I've got two cruisers - a CBR and a GSXR.

By the way... what does a crotch rocket have to do with how this guy crashed?...

Iroquois - serious question ... did your friend explain why he went that far into the side of the road? This usually happened, when a curve came and i wasn't paying full attention and over judged the turn... or if i decide. hmm i wonder if i ride through that

  • @TakeThatVictory You're a moron.

  • @TakeThatVictory Even if he had been riding a "Bobber", the outcome would've been the same...simple physics moron

  • @TakeThatVictory but crotch rockets are for real men

  • @TakeThatVictory xD wtf are you smoking?

  • @MrJswans If I recall correctly it did leave a few tears in the pants.

  • your lucky your knife was on the road and not inside your leg because it was open when he picked it up lol, got lucky.

  • Liked this video. I learned a bit. (Which I wasn't really expecting to)

  • It happens lol

  • Man, once i think i found all the motorcycle vloggers i find another one! :) I am getting a klr 650... do a random search on youtube..Poof!! another vlogger! lol...

  • u need 2 things. sliders and learn how to up a big bike... ur back needed.

  • all that dry road and he rides on the wet portion, send him back to the brc

  • whats with the dude that comes and tries to be medic

  • @drow809 its called helping and having a brain and knowing what to do when your body goes into shock.

  • @drow809 Who knows, maybe he IS a medic. That would be nice to have on hand.

  • "can you feel the toes in both feet" "he sustained no injuries to his body that caused any nerve issues" haha what a dork

  • Hey what made him crash?? Did the bike slip in that puddle or something??

  • hey bud when it rains it floats oil antifreeze tranny fluid gear oil all kinds of slippery crap left by cars trucks from the road to the gutter. but i think you know that now. glad to see you came out of it ok ride safe

  • Lucky guy... Lucky he dropped it on his left and didn't drop right, look at the video.... look how close he came to slamming into that light pole. Why was he riding in the gutter where their was water when he had dry pavement? That's an expensive lesson to learn. Respect the bike, their aren't that many second chances.

  • It so nice to see different types of bike riding together. The road is a two wheel church.

  • If everyone was driving on the dry road why you had to drive on the wet road? I apologize for my very bad english...

  • handlerbar steering is..OH FUCK!

  • who is mr nurse there talking like he just got out of med school?

  • @alfletch93 That was me. My certification has actually come in handy several times. I suggest all reasonably mature adults get certified in basic first aid, adult cpr, and child cpr... you never know when you'll need it.

  • In all fairness at least he didn't get hurt badly. Even light falls like that can really mess one up. but hey it eventually happens to everyone

  • Most relaxed after crash ever haha you dewds are funy lol. Glad to see all ok!

  • are those offroad tires?

  • @demetriius3000 They are a mix I think, knobby tires that are designed for both street and offroad.

  • @Iroquois14...kool,thats wassup..never knew it was tires like that..i never even saw a street bike with offroad tires..only on the movies

  • @Iroquois14 they are dunlop k750s. A pretty crappy tire all around not sticky, not knobby. Klrs have been coming on them (or something just like them with a different model number) for decades. They'll get you around though if you don't push it. I like am24s for road and d606s for off road. Switched to AM24s and instantly dropped a few dozen feet stopping distance. Nice thing about them is, they don't generally last long enough to worry about.

  • 2:43 jesus that is slick, thats like mud + water.

    LMFAO

  • Good thing he was ok in the end

  • Looked like a good example of target fixation. He was looking at the wet stuff, therefore drove right into it. Glad he's ok.

  • How was his ankle/foot after the bike fell on it? When I crashed, my bike fell on my foot and twisted my ankle bad. Had to get around on crutches for 2 weeks

  • @Golas23rd His ankle was fine, I believe.

  • lol was he trying to clean his tyres in the water

  • I slid into a rock today and folded my radiator in two, but it was on a pretty rough hill tho, I feel your pain bro

  • Thanks man now I know what handle bar steering is "oh fuck"lololol

  • i agree whit Kuosion you are so optimist

  • I'd like to think thats how I'd react to dumping a bike, he took it like a champ. I've seen guys throw hissy fits and pout like a baby, at least he was laughing. Is that a gopro camera btw? Nice vid.

  • your laugh made this vid lol

  • He should have spent that money! Now its all torn up and worthless ^_^

  • "The riders well being isn't important at all, because you aren't worth shit. However, the bike is worth a few grand."

same thing goes though my head whenever i do something stupid lol. my mirrors like to fall off any time you breath on them...

oh, and riding though puddles is something i do all the time too so i knew exactly what he was thinking lol ;) now i'm going to be thinking of this for a while though...

  • jajaja i made that too but i don`t fell down

  • i would've framed that 1 dollar bill, that looks cool as hell;)

  • lmao honestly the best part was when he was like ohh shit my money has road rash!!!!!

  • So yea... stay the hell OUT of the water on your motorcycle. Been there, haven't dropped it yet, don't plan on starting now.

  • seems like everyone had good spirits about it. Also fail drainage FTW!

  • lolol. "Shifter isn't broken... so it should be good!" You are one optimistic guy!

  • @kuosion Whenever a motorcycle gets in a crash, the bike is always the more important thing to check on. Make sure it's still rideable and all that. The riders well being isn't important at all, because you aren't worth shit. However, the bike is worth a few grand. =P

  • @Iroquois14 unfortunently the sad truth! lol

  • damn fucking water u sliped on that thing, hope ur bike is okay and ur doing well, i just fell yesterday and have nice skin marks ,lol ...i had no equipement just helmet and gloves ...dumb me

  • Glad he only had minor injuries, the gear did its job. That's why I wear my riding gear too. The way I see it, those $150 (what I spent on mine) pants saved him a $1500 + bill in the hospital.

  • that gue was so right, least it wasnt his leg. glad it wasnt any worse for him. how was his bike in the end?

  • @EdgeyForSure The bike was fine, except for some scrapes and a twisted turn signal.

  • @Iroquois14 Hey what made him crash?? Did the bike slip in that puddle or something??

  • @gav83 My guess is that little ditch they form into the pavement had dirt and soot buildup that gets really slimy and slick.

  • @sgtpepper1138 To me, it looked like he was playing around and got just too close to the curb, by that, i mean he hit it.

  • I'm guessing the front wheel kissed the curb. With that slime under the wheels, that would bring the bike down faster than a blink.

The late, great John Candy would look at the side of the bike and say, "awe, that will buff out no problem!"

And even textiles are better than nothing. They did the job for the most part.

For those who haven't been down, you get a real adrenalin dump. It's the next day when you feel everything.

  • Terrific vid at his expense, we all learn from different sources. Something like this does have a positive aspect. He wasn't hurt badly, and we learned a lesson.

Glad he & his bike weren't thrashed too much.

    Stay safe I14!

  • Damn that really sucks. Though this is probably one of those moments when you were saying to yourself, Im so glad I have a camera right now.

  • lol "My money has road rash" :D

  • everyone will go down, sooner or later....

  • Not wanting to see anymore of those terrible bike crashes, I wasn't sure I was going to watch this one. I was wrong, this was a GREAT educational video for all of us! Thanks for posting.

  • why did he drive into the water? this accident could have been easily avoided

  • Left leg got a lucky escape.

  • @svengalie Agreed you seem to end up more mangled!

I try and never get that close to the kerbstone, potholes, grit and general crap waits there to have you off..

    Glad he wasnt hurt

  • Bike doesn't look too bad. Rider didn't need ambulance. Glad he's ok. Talk about picking a good topic to vlog about with that in the background!

  • @hondacr60r

    no brakes were involved :P

  • @DCKC2009 well looked like it so i get what happened fully now been there on dirt bikes mostly. now what was he thinkin then lol!! he was like ya cool water i got a enduro were safe splat lol shitty deal man good lesson thou for all!

  • @hondacr60r ease up there big man

  • @HAIONSTRESS lol sorry

  • Damn dude that sucks.

  • rule here is if you still got 50% of your money intact then you get it back, less then 50% I think you still get some back but not all

dunno how that works in the usa

  • those KLR's can take a pounding, but they handle like a tank. just goes to show ya, anything can happen at anytime. 2 thumbs up!

  • I like how everyone says "at least the riders ok" as I lay around in bed covered in bruises with a scrape on the knee and nearly useless right thumb :|

  • @DCKC2009 it's okay, i'm here now.

  • Ouch! Glad he was okay, shame that his scoot got skint though. Good thing the traffic was light, I fear that more than goin' down. Great vid.

    Have a goodun'

    D-Ray

  • i have some textle pants (chaps) and I dont wear them..but I will now. goes to show..ATGATT...I was going add the LIKE..but just seems wrong to do that...lol

  • its kind of scary when i think about it.. i mean.. you saw how easy he just lost control?.. he was and he was going in a staight line!

well.. at least it was a good video! (because he didnt get hurt of corse :P ) ... i specially liked the .... "handlebar steering is... HO FUCK!"

  • beautiful! I was so relieved for him when that peg folded down and the shifter was ok. Also noticed myself looking at his clutch lever after snapping mine clean off when I dropped my bike on ice this January!

    All's well that ends well.

  • all dirt from road is collected in there...its like driving on snow ;>

  • Ok Tell him the KLR is broke in now!!! he doesnt have to worry about scratching it anymore!! I did mine when I trailered it home the day I bought it!!!! Glad he's ok! I bet when he first slipped he touched the front brake. a Definite no no on the 35" seat high KLR.

  • @navythomas8

didn't touch any brakes, simply leaned a little bit to get back on the good pavement, but there was NO traction so the bike just fell

  • wow didn't expect him to fall on a straight line :/

  • Great eyewitness instructional video, glad there were no cars following or serious injuries

  • Comment removed

  • Wow! Lesson learnt the hard way!

  • Replacing those riding pants is a bargain compared to the nasty road-rash he would have got had he been wearing jeans. Glad to see him get right back up and shake it off! :)

  • haha, when you watch it all the way through then watch again, its quite funny. but i feel the pain. You had the bike inspected for alignment?

  • glad he is alright....

  • Glad he was okay

  • textile pants are a one time use thing from what i can tell.. leather is really the best

  • @HAIONSTRESS i got two crashes out of my textile pants ;)

  • @AviBaby18

I did too actually, this finished them off though hehe.

  • Glad your buddy is alright.

  • day dreaming!! hahaaa i know its not too funny, but it is. he's ok!

  • "oops!" lol, im glad the dude was ok though, without gear that woulda huurrrrt.

  • dang im glad hes ok and his bike but its too bad about the money haha

  • so it looked like he went into the water in the gutter and lost traction and fell? Is that what happened?

  • haha i'm on the look out for some awesome enduro riders to feature on our website, that guy isn't one of them lol

i'm guessing there was oil in that water, there must have been, on a serious note glad the kid was okay

  • As everyone else says, im glad hes okay. I hit some muddy icey water once on my scooter and went down so quick I didnt even realise I was going down til I had.

  • DC is an idiot!

  • Hmm kinda awsome that guy was there. Just to give some health tips n stuff imean.. I wouldn't even think about sitting down to get rid of the adrenaline.

  • That one one dollar bill better have been framed and hung on the wall the next day. lolz

  • I've done that on a XL 80. But weeks earlier I drove on snow no prob. Can't predict these things. Just be ready.

  • ROTFL!! :D

  • @M3anMachin3 can only laugh at these when everyone's alright and little more than just a bruised ego. Next time stay clear of the evil muddy water!! :D

  • glad the rider is ok ?

  • Why was he riding in the water? Plenty of road it looked like.

  • dam water and so near the edge and slime , not a good combo, thankfully he was ok

you dirty little guy , laughing at your friend lololol

armor rules , that knee was saved oh this brings me back some fond memories

  • Thank God he's okay . . .

  • thats unfortunate :(

  • That was a mildly comical crash. It was like wheeeee I'm falling.

  • Nice. We have that kinda mineral water around here, all over my grandparents place, we always slip going up their driveway. It sucks. Glad he's okay and you guys weren't going too fast.

You can here the other guy go 'holy crap'. Niceee! Definitely keeping that money.

  • aw jeez, that dc? aw man...sure lookin like dc right now...

  • Wow, good thing it was a hardy KLR, they are built to take a few drops.

  • damn, as long as he’s alright
