I have been flying the same one of these for almost 2 years and my only complaint is the batteries but those seem to be the weakest part of the whole ultra micro lineup.
When the wind is still outside I have more fun with the tandem than my Blade 400..
The Eflite Tandem Rescue is now discontinued. I picked up 2 of them for under $60.00 (shipped) Good Tandem heli. Let's face it, Eflite is a "Top-Notch" company & they make outstanding products!!! Plus you can score parts @ your LHS. My only gripe is that it has an open bottom. Wished it was closed like the Syma S022.
I know all these ultra micro helis are stable....cuz i have em all but ironically whenever mark tries to show how stable they are the heli drifts away....haha poor guy
Well update on my brand new replaced Blade Tandem Rescue. It broke again. Now the back right lower blade doesn't spin freely after the simplest and gentlest little crashes. It seems like once a day this thing breaks in a new and different day. Absolutely ridiculous for a $180.00 helicopter.
It's getting shipped straight to the company and I am demanding a refund. Yes, this helicopter looks cool with two blades and the lights, but it breaks way too damn easily. Looks can be deceiving.
Do me a favor and send me an e-mail detailing what's been going on and the issues you've been having (e-mail address is under the "More Info" section on the right). I'd like to see if there's something we can do to help. We honestly have not had an issue with these helis.
I did email your company multiple times. The helicopter is flying correctly now after I completely disassembled it and cleaned out all the gears and motors. I was not expecting it to fly straight and when I did a test flight, it worked fine and now for the past few days it's been flying perfect.
Buying a different helicopter than this would be taking a step back anyway. No other tandem models have the game-controller like receiver, small battery, and LED lights installed. I
Unfortunately I don't always get looped into e-mails that go to Product Support. I wanted to see if there was something I could do to help make sure that someone A) has gotten your e-mails and B) was trying to help you out.
I wouldn't recommend this helicopter to anyone, especially beginners. I bought this thing for my dad for Christmas as his first RC helicopter. It's broken numerous times. I waited three weeks for an impossible to get part to come in stock. I spent days on simulators and finally had the thing flying and now something else broke on it when I didn't even crash it! What a ridiculous and poor $200.00 investment. I will never buy another product like this again.
This heli is very stable, only problem is even the simplest of repairs can become very time consuming unlike the mcx or msr. In order to remove the body the rotor blades must be removed, plus the led's must all be unplugged from the board, even changing the rear inner shaft requires elevating the body slightly...it woudnt be quite as bad if the led plugs were at least colour coded.
They are a wonderful force and great people chattin about this new machine. We are lucky to live in a time where it seems a new bird arrives once a year as opposed to once a decade! They are like a father & son team;)
hey, i've had mine for about a week, and i dnt know if this is normal or not, but as soon as i plug the battery in to charge it, all the LED's start flashing, which in the manual says it means its almost done charging, about 10 mins later, it's flashing side to side which means that it's done, but the problem is it lasts like less than 10 seconds. is this normal?
yup, did everything the instruction booklet said. I contacted e-flite and they told me that the battery is probably damaged due to over usage, which I can understand. I ddn't know that flying till the center red light started flashing would damage the batt, so I guess I have to take responsibility for this.
Here's the other thing people have done and that is many people have damaged their ultra-micro batteries by leaving them in the aircraft. Always make sure you unplug the battery.
I never do that. never leave nitro fuel in my nitro car tanks, never leave 6-cell packs connected to ESC's in my touring cars, never leave lipo packs in anything unless it's being used. If I'm not using it, it's stored safely away.
Turns out my unit was defective. The 5 in 1 unit broke and I got to replace the entire helicopter in the shop under warranty (it's still brand new, not even a month old). I got a new one now it so far it's flying great and the battery life is great. I guess bad ones get in the batch!
Still, I will agree with the comment below about tedious repairs on the thing, and it still will break easy if you crash it into walls and run the throttle when its laying on it's side or anything.
ok now i'm starting to think that my 5 in one is damaged too. I can get 10+ mins of flight time as long as I don't hover the heli, but hovering for a minute, it says it's near the end of the discharge. Charge it up again, plug it in, hover it for a min, and it's already at the end of the charge. disconnect battery, put it in again flying forward, and i get 10 mins of flight again. thing is rly starting to aggravate me, i unfortunately wish i never bought it.
Well glad to see I am not alone and I know how you feel. I think my last one had battery troubles too. The day it came back from the shop, the battery was taking ridiculously long to charge and it seemed to die pretty fast.
It's really a sleek and cool helicopter but for the money, there should be zero problems with it. I contacted the company to return mine because I am extremely dissatisfied with it breaking constantly. There are tons of other RC tandem helicopters out there to get.
Yeah Mark bro, you're awesome at what you do for Eflite dude. A lot of us peeps dig your vids!! Keep up the good work, you're helping bring a lot of happiness to a lot of people. :)
Yes, we recommend aircraft mode as it is simple. Heli mode can be used without any throttle/collective mixes. Basically, Mark was trying to keep it as easy as possible.
Vik, I suppose someone will put them in their but no they don't fit and the weight will reduce performance. A better battery is the E-flite Ultra micro 4-Site 150mah single cell lipo, it fits and has the C rating to support more performance
I have been flying the same one of these for almost 2 years and my only complaint is the batteries but those seem to be the weakest part of the whole ultra micro lineup.

Since the Labrador is no longer used by the Canadian Forces, i hope Blade makes a CH-149 Cormorant, its replacement.

Doesn't sound like it. It should last a good 10 minutes on a charge. Did you set it to charge at 0.7 or whatever on the charger like the book says?
