  • don't know who made video but get this WE WANT TO SEE THE GUITAR NOT THE AUDIENCE

that is one coked up Stevie and skin and bones RIP Stevie, one of the best

  • Ever notice how many SRV guitars have the paint peeled right off them in spots? I'll bet he had the same effect on the walls of the concert halls where he played!!!

  • I wish I have half the talent he had............

  • Guitar god. He will shread and DESTROY my heavy metal guitar with just one finger.

  • Stevie broke a D string! WOW OMG

  • Stevie kicks ass

  • Stevie Ray Vaughn, ladies and gentlemen

  • that guitar is his b!tch

  • so sad that we only got to hear him for a couple shorts years when he was sober. he was arguably in his prime when he passed away. Damn he wanted to he would upstage all of today's "shredders"who think its all about how fast you play

  • if i had the amount of talent that this man has in his pinky, i woud be one bad ass mofo

  • 7:08 boobs

  • I wet my self....multiple times....and I still am...

  • Please correct the title..its not child, its chile.

  • Far better than Slash and Zakk's version.

  • @nepotiums thats a no brainer respectfully! they are not blues players!

  • @1976Stratomaster That, I agree with you!

  • And the reason why he captures Hendrix sounds so well is that SRV also tuned his guitars half a step down, as hendrix did. Hence the same response in sound

  • damn this is incredible

  • That tone.. Is just amazing..SRV!

  • Imagine the boners we would all have if Hendrix and SRV were able to play this together today.

  • @dustinmoritz dont forget mayer

  • Dont think anyone came closer to the original sound than SRV. Now they`re both gone. What a loss.

  • whos better, srv or eddie van halen ,joking or what ? cant compare srv to anyone his just the best

  • @MrMidgaard Beiber SORRY

  • I love how he breaks the string by accident, but just improvises and adds to the epic ending.

  • @SupaLex23 Its called showmanship, no accident about it. Snapping .13 strings aint that easy lol It's an old bluesman trick been going for years, but you are correct in saying that this is an act of bravery to those who don't know how to play a guitar. And it does look hella impressive. Most solo's never really go up that high so ...

  • holy fuckin darn... This guy was a virtuoso

  • he does it better even though he wouldn't admit it if he was still alive... still both phenomenal guitarists

  • masterful cover

R.I.P his D-string - it almost made to the end of the song

  • Jimmi was real respectful and appreciative of his fellow guitarists. I am sure if he heard this version, he would have said...FUCKING WOW!

  • He's fuckin crazy!! OMG!! I wish so eagerly that he's still alive.

  • @19880828Frank1 me 2

  • Not a question of who is better but what you like better but in my opinion, this performance is absolutely EPIC. I dont love all of SRV's music, but this performance has to be my favorite guitar performance of all time. Goddamn he could play!

  • SRV OWNES!!!

  • whos better, srv or eddie van halen? someone knows...

  • @osbornehunter Really?

Compare Rock 'n roll to Blues?

IMO, if we talk Blues it would probably be SRV. He got the feeling and he got so much soul in his instrument and in him.

If we talk Rock 'n roll, it probably be Slash or EVH, they know how to play old fashion rock with cool tones and fast playing.

But dont you ask that to someone, you just sound like your been living under a rock.

  • @SiCF1ST i wonder what these two guys thought of each other?

  • @osbornehunter srv, but eddy was more original

  • @osbornehunter Most retarded comment I read all week.

  • @MrThisIsMeToo why? what the hell is your problem??

  • @osbornehunter cant compare diffrent times sides there all great

  • To all the people saying it was a string break at the end are wrong its the string unwrapping at the nut, has happened to me twice

  • SRV kicks asses

  • @srvbluesrip No tricks? Playing guitar behind your back?

  • WOW! I am not a SRV fan but I love this version of the song! Always have.

But man this song is played for the love Hendrix!

    Different then original. \MM/ \MM/

  • wow!!!!!! man can play a sick guitar!!!!!!!!!

  • 1:00

  • Jimi, Stevie, Eric and Kings...they all have their styles, they are different and we love all of them.

  • @jlwcal Great comment. They all have their different styles. I love all their playing too.. I don't have the nerve to compare guitar players. Their all gifted. I have couple of SRV videos and the concerts all have great feel when he plays. I also want to add another great guitar player who was great. Gary Moore. RIP Gary.

  • Yeah, He's an amazing guitarist but I like the original better.

  • IM i the only one that is drunk??

  • Steamy ray vaughn XD

  • WATCH MY VERSION ON MY CHANNEL !!

  • srce<3<3<3<3

    <3<3<3<3<3<3

  • What kills me about this version is how cool SRV is at the end. Like "what?, That was no big deal". After he tore the roof off. So cool.

  • This never gets old. Often copied, never replicated

  • @guitgeo wish people would stop arguing about with guitgeo because nobody here knows what he means im 13 and i know what he's talking about he loves r&b REAL r&b so he listens to those players rock and roll is a dirivetive of blues and jazz and i believe that srv plays the way he does for the money but really can play r&b better than he does on stage

  • @OMGitsSLASHben Sorry, kid but there is no way SRV played this way just for the money.

  • Nobody can say about stevie's playing bad things...somebody has said that he's playing easy licks or something... Well bro.. if that's easy ,you'd stand on this stage and not him.. but no..he is a legend and you just shit

  • another hendrix wannabe

  • @hotmn4u you're kidding me right? you're a douchebag

  • So regardless as to what types of arguments are in the comments of this video already, just wanted to thank you for an awesome video of an awesome song performed by an awesome artist.

  • Nice =)! I don't know the song, first time listening to it: but in my opinion a bit too much with the guitar-solo's.. i'm not such a solo person I guess, but it's amazing :)

  • I love how Stevie breaks his string at 6:13 and still continues to play the shit out of his guitar until the end. Amazing recovery by an amazing guitar player.

  • Comment removed

  • Woah, it looks like his string action is high @ 0:27

  • @FLIGHTCOMPANY

its normal, but its scalloped so the strings are farther away from between the frets, but its normal action

  • @FLIGHTCOMPANY his fretboard looks almost scalloped :D

  • i used to love Hendrix, then i took a SRV to the knee

  • @guitgeo

What you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

  • @rock64bg Don't you have any origional thoughts in your lame empty head? My rambling was to the point - exactly...so fuck you and your mother too!!

  • Comment removed

  • @rock64bg

I see what you did there :-)

  • @rock64bg nicely said but the members of the room took a vot and wont be atisfied till some ass whippin takes place

  • @rock64bg As much as I agree with your comment....what room?

  • @guitgeo Fuck off

  • @ateal50 Fuck you where you breathe and your ol' lady too.!!

  • @guitgeo Well the video is completely shit quality, just like your opinion.

  • @GibsonSGspot its from 1987....quality in video?? really???

  • @guitgeo Dude what the fuck are u saying?! Are u deaf?! The reason why everyone plays these licks, is cause they are so legendary and brilliant!!!

  • @Mamba0608 Wrong - they play them 'cause they are the easiest licks you can play and still make sense and are easily recognizable and coppied by blues players

I love rhythm and blues and can play with the best of them. You obviously never picked up a guitar, you don't know it's just a matter of repitition with a touch of soul. Ever hear of muscle memory? I've been on stage and have completely forgotton my lead parts only to find my hands started me off because of that muscle memory. .

    George

  • @guitgeo All music is a fucking lot of noise isn't it?

Who cares if the licks are old?

  • @guitgeo let's see you do better then, douchebag!

  • @guitgeo nobody agrees with you. but they agree when i say youre a wally! (UK)

  • @guitgeo go suck your moms cock

  • @guitgeo i would like too see you go up on a stage and do what srv does in this video, i mean if its just "same old tired licks" the should be no problem for you..

  • @Caman674 You obviously don't play guitar or you would realize what I say is true. Same old tired licks we all play. We still get over on audiences because people are generally impressed by things they don't or can't do. So kindly go shit in your hat-ok?

  • perfection jimi couldnt have played it any better srv was his equal

  • Stevie's guitar action is monstrous ! :O

  • i was scared for that poor guitar there for a moment :D

  • one of the best songs ever...

  • SRV is the best i play behind my back because of him.

  • @1FenderGuy You do know there were guitarist playing behind backs and with their teeth as well before SRV right?

  • @BlackMusicGenre Yes, in fact i can do it as well

  • @1FenderGuy So why would you say SRV inspired you to do it if they were players doing before him ? Is he your first encounter with blues or something ?

  • @BlackMusicGenre No, Hendrix made me do it first, then i saw SRV and did it his way, it was way more comfortable then the Hendrix way

  • @BlackMusicGenre I can't speak for him, but if someone sees SRV do it first and thinks that's cool enough for him to try and then see a video of Jimi doing it, it's really SRV that inspired the person first.

  • @setboy1 That's cool if SRV inspired someone or anybody for that matter , but some people feel like he's the end all be all . In reality alot of things he's done has been done already. Yeah a person could see SRV do it first , but some are unaware that he's not the first to do it . I like SRV . He's an exciting player , but at the end of the day he pulled from many artist and many feel that SRV was the first to do what he's doing because they heard SRV first.

  • 13 viewers don't like his boots!...

  • who else can do that with a guitar are you serious nobody maybe Hendrix.

    Renoruona

  • Stevie kicked some serious ass in All Time Guitar Gods catagory. Renoruona

  • SRV rest in peace. Renoruona

  • 1:00 stevies reaction to Jimi jacking off to him

  • He put that guitar behind his back as if to say, "Get thee behind me, Satan!"

  • mother fucker!!! This is the only guy I see playin a guitar behind his back without having to type in "Play guitar behind back" in the search bar.

  • @JacobTheRedWolf Jimi Hendrix Hey Joe live has it where he plays behind his head and with his teeth. I love both artists.

  • fucking flawless!!

  • would have liked to hear him and Joe bonamassa play together. blow ya out of your seat.

  • am i the only one here practicing SRV with a epi sg?

    :P

  • @Jamsessionroom1337 Get a strat! lol

  • @Jamsessionroom1337 no. I use a ibanez as53, which is a semi-hollow body. It sounds cool, despite of the low sustain.

  • STEVIE playzzz better then HENDRIX dose...

  • i just use 12s or 13s with an .011 subbed in for the high E...you don't really need the thick sound for the high E. he gets most of his tone from the other strings. it's an excellent compromise that allows you to easily bend more than a tone and hold it with vibrato for some sustain.

  • I use 13s my g strings busted theyre not too hard to manage once you get used to it

  • Those boots... Are. The. SHIT!

  • It makes me cry how good this man was, I wish so badly I could have seen him live...such perfection

  • I'm getting 13 58 gauge strings for my strat because of SRV and getting a lefty tremolo

  • @1FenderGuy have fun destroying your fingers before the tips become rock ;) expect blood from long sessions haha mate. Dont bother with the lefty. Stevie only did it because they couldnt get a right hand one before a gig so they did a chop job with that one. The custom sticker hides the hack n slash job to get it into the guitar with the limited time they had before the gig. You will sound great with the big thick strings, once you get used to it post some vids up mate!

  • @fergus1494 Hah i love Stevie's strings now. i have not got them im running 11s on my SX Strat copy thats sunburst like his Number 1

  • Comment removed

  • steve was god !!!!

  • No esta mal. Pero la voz sale con poca fuerza.

  • Stevie always played awesome!

  • omg...who needs drugs whenwe have music that can take us way like this!!!!!

  • one of the reasons I'm glad I'm still alive......

  • YES!!!!!

  • no one can replace jimmy. period.

  • @stozka yeah, but you can get someone i addition who is as awesome as he was

  • Mr Vaughn never tried to replace Jimmy ! Did not need to.

  • @mrlegend800 no one can replace jimi and no one can replace stevie because they are both legends. Rest in peace u two

  • Only he could play this perfect, eyes closed, behind his back...Literally!

  • i was seriously angry when i saw him apply the same piercing vibrato with the guitar behind his back that he does normally....WTF my forearm isn't even strong enough to do that with the guitar at my front using .12s....WTF!!!

  • WOW

  • @grimdaddyvoodoo sure SRV had a little tech behind him but that only modified the sound. I didn't modify how fast and good SRV could play. Jimmy Hendrix was still a good player, but in my book, SRV is the best there will EVER be.

  • *head explodes*

  • He made Jimi proud but I'm gonna have to have another shower! This man is smokin!

  • he put that guitar behind his back with style, haha. HES GReat

  • Stevie had some of the biggest hands you'll ever see on a man. The neck of that guitar looks like a toothpick in his hands. Thanks for the vid..

  • Starwood was a cool venue.

  • Hendrix > Stevie > Joe Satriani

  • I've seen him live, I've watched countless hours of the man on video, still never heard him play a sour note.

    Happy Birthday SRV.

    Still missed.

  • @aldude99

Heard an interview with Clapton a while ago and he said that Stevie never got lost, like he could dance up and down the fretboard and never lost his place. Pretty awesome. I think that says it all. I saw him twice.

  • @aldude99 saw him at reading 83, best gig of the whole weekend, showed everyone how to get the whole crowd rockin !! clapton i read gave him his seat,BASTARD!

  • @mowgli19601 HAHA. Clapton was "God" in the sixties but SRV was the God during my day. Could listen to them both any minute of any day.

  • WOOOHOOOO!~!!!!!!

  • 11 people can't chop down a mountain with the edge of their hands.

  • All is good but look the boootss....damn baby!!!!

  • UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fuck fuck fuck shit shit shit shit shiiiiiiittt!! i wanna fucken cryyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!! stevie if you where a god i'd surrender my soul to you. but for that a'm a keep on puffing and getting real high chillin' on the summer with an ice cold beer. cheers to everyone that love real and I mean REAL music straight from the soul....

  • thumbs up if u just jizzed n your pants

  • only srv breaks a .013 string

  • @eloelo14 i've done it once....... with a wire cutter -_-

  • @boricubano2005 hahaha that's not fair x)

  • @eloelo14 and still plays and makes it sound great

  • @Donjovi32 sure what's most important.

  • @eloelo14 Well since he actually broke his D string that is a 0.036.

  • @joshuafrye182 a monster indeed. I wouldn't want to be his litte girl.

  • @eloelo14 Ive broke em. Haha. It aint as hard as one might think. -Cody Lee Meece

  • @eloelo14 that's what i call have balls!

  • @eloelo14 I broke the entire set of .13's I put on my Epiphone Rhoads because I wanted to see what Stevie went through and those strings are like bridge ropes I tell ya. So freakin thick you could barely bend them 1/4 note.

  • @eloelo14 ...while playing behind his back

  • @eloelo14 Thicker than that, man

  • @eloelo14

dude,i've been playing a set ,13_,16_,19_,38_,42_,60 for the last 2 years(standard tuning),it really depends on the guitar your using,i play a john mayer white strat, and even though the gauge,it really isnt that hard to play with, and i play like hendrix-stuff up to metallica solo's with them(maybe not like stevie but hey,no-one does!),but when i tried it on my other strat,it was really hard 2 play!

and btw, stevie also strung his guitar up to 0,14 0,15 and even crazy as 0,18!

    r.i.pSRV

  • @kevintabs stevie motherfucker

  • @eloelo14 He didn't have 13's on in this video. He bends the strings way too easily. I put 13's on one of my guitars and it took 3 fingers on one fret on the high e string to bend it a whole note. SRV bends notes in this song 1-2 notes higher so the string would have already popped by then. He used 13's for experiment when he was high. He is probably more than likely using 11's here. Those arent that bad.

  • @Fgttgem00 nice. Think about him playing .009
