Never, ever, pay a ticket. Hire an attorney, pay whatever it costs to keep the violation off your record. Police, courts, and insurance companies are a racket that feed each other. The courts collect the money and put points on your record. The insurance companies raise your rates, and take that money and buy speed measuring equipment which they "donate" to police departments who then use that equipment to write more tickes.

As a good friend and state trooper told me, "Yeah their not illegal, but don't get caught with one" - A lot of states have crazy laws IE: Tire tread must be so long, cant have anything obstructing view of windshield, no alterations to exhaust system ect... so if you do get one and happen to get pulled over, expect a lot of tickets you've never heard of.
