  • minor v to VI = <3

  • Classicistic late 1700th century lutheran counterpoint. After the Old North German School, Dieterich Buxtehude's work represents the pinnacle of this tradition, undisputedly an 100% authentic piece of art made by one of this school's true masters. Bach was aware of this of course, so it wasn't just of simple admiration he studied this style, a style by many of his contemporaries considered as old-fashioned. Buxtehude, long live thy craftmanship and music

  • Interesting that Bach was visiting Buxtehude just prior to writing his own Toccata and Fugue in Dm. Did Bach borrow from Buxtehude? Some say yes. Certainly, one of history's mystery's.

  • @guitarman2069 But it is certain that one can here his influence on Bach right in this video :)! Just too bad Mr. Dietrich's daughter was not very attractive.

  • Buxtehude whooped a llama's ass!

  • It's so similar to the Toccata and Fugue by Bach!!!!

  • I doubt I would walk 230 miles in winter like J.S. Bach to hear D.B. play - but I'd walk 2 miles! Thanks for this wonderful music!

  • Superb really. Thank you.

  • The sheet music is behind the recording, so can't follow as I'd ilke, but great piece. Learning it at the moment

  • Thank you very much!

  • MARVELOUS! So beautiful! :]

  • Wow...this is beyond words... :) I love the chromatic harmonies. Brilliant composer. No wonder Bach admired him!
