can someone tell me what happened to the grand staircase? was it dislodged on the way to the ocean floor n float away to an unknown place? all in 1 giant piece for that matter? or did 100 years of sea water dissolve it away? how can there be zero signs of it where it was on the ship?
@Taxi502 No one knows for sure, but there's good cumulative evidence that it simply lifted upwards out of the ship and broke up as the bow section sank. It wasn't physically mounted in the ship; the staircase itself relied mainly on gravity to keep it in place. Many sections and pieces of it were seen floating in the water after the sinking. And there's no trace of it on the wreck at the bottom of the Grand Staircase on E Deck, where explorers expected to find its remnants.
really amazing how much stuff is there that appears in good condition! that metal kitchen water heater(?) still silver!! sadly I wonder when this was made and how much of it still remains? I know that they took a lot out and had exhibitions etc(which seems like grave robbing somehow and wrong) but I also wonder how much was stolen as well?? amazing piece of film.
hang on, if the ship was tipped basically on its axis, and then fell straight to the bottom of the atlantic, how did all the plates stay stacked like that? that's a little creepy
@BrEnNo1023: As I understand it, it didn't happen like that. Only the stern went vertical, the ship was at a much shallower angle when the bow snapped off and the bow section stayed more or less the right way up as it drifted to the bottom.
@BrEnNo1023 Probably because the plates were in the bow section, which never attained the extreme angle of the stern during the sinking because it broke off first. Once underwater, water pressure would have negated most of the crockery's tendencies to move.
I was watching a documentary and I'm pretty sure that the other ship didn't respond because of all the ice. Titanic was also unable to contact the ship but sent up 6-8 flares but when they stopped the other ship assumed they were okay for some reason. She (titanic) sent radio signals or morse code to her sister ship but it did not arrive in time
this is so sad...this whole event..have yal seen te movie..really brings this event to life..i cried when i saw the movie...jack and rose were so cute and it was so sad when e died...:(

@sweetkittytwine The ship was the Californian which was stopped for the night because of ice. They tryed to contact Titanic but was told to "shut up" by Titanic's radio operator because of the interference to their outgoing messages. Californian shut off their radio for the night. Rockets from Titanic were thought to be "company rockets" to signal another ship of the same fleet. Californian and Carpathia both sunk by U boats during WWI. Hope this helps.
@Modeltnick the titanic's radio operator told the californian's radio operator to shut up bc the radios they were using were owned by seperate companies n the titanic thought it in bad taste to communicate with the californian. the rockets were thought to be warning rockets that a large ship was coming thru n to give way to the larger ship. at least these r claimed to be facts by the book im reading. i guess no one will ever know if ur right or im right
@Taxi502 Actually Californian and Titanic were both Marconi-equipped. The Californian's operator failed to precede his transmission with the letters MSG, for Master Service Gram--which would have meant that Titanic's operator would have been obliged to receive and acknowledge the message and pass it along to the bridge. The way the Californian's operator worded his message made it sound to Jack Phillips like simple operator-to-operator chit chat, which was why Phillips brushed it off.
@Taxi502 Which one are you reading? I've noticed that even Walter Lord's "A Night To Remember" didn't fully clarify the Titanic-Californian exchange, either. Parks Stephenson is a recognized authority on Titanic's Marconi operation and radio protocols of the day--my info in this department is largely coming from his articles on the subject.
@sweetkittytwine She was the British Leyland vessel Californian, with a crew of 49 and no passengers on her way to Boston. She stopped in the ice field the Titanic was heading towards around 9:30 that night. Californian had only one radio operator, whose shift ended around 11PM--they couldn't keep a 24-hour radio service. Why the Californian didn't respond to rockets in the vicinity of ice is anyone's guess. Her master should at least have wakened his radio operator at the sight of the rockets.
this is a spook movie. very scary. laying in the darkest depths as a huge coffin. knowing people died inside there. the terror they suffered is unimaginable. it is hard for me to see her down there in the darkness as beautiful. too bad human error caused so many lost lives. this was an iron empire state building on water and it sunk and cost 1500 lives. so sad.

@ung427 they were worn by someone... the body drifted to the floor it died on and it slowly deteriated away and left the shoes behind... its very sad if you think about it...
@ImOnShrooms1997 Yes, it's very sad indeed to think of the excitement everyone had on their way to America during the first night on RMS Titanic. Going to sleep in their beautiful rooms and starting to dream of what a life they will make for themselves in America, and perhaps what to have for breakfast... and then to be at the bottom of the cold dark sea before ever seeing the sun again. What a tragic contrast! I'm sure some people had a little too much to drink and never left their beds.
hi there just been looking at an article about officer Lowe are you aware he was made to apologise in american inquiry but he refused the apology and altered the apology to suite himself he and another officer with regard foreign people and especially Italians
@motorguzzi100 Yes, that's right; I read that in Craig Wyn Wade's Titanic: End of a Dream; it's about the 1912 Senate Inquiry. It seems whenever any of Titanic's officers noticed bad behavior on the part of passengers that night, it was attributed to "an Italian." Fifth Officer Lowe did apologize for that, as the Italian embassy were rightfully furious about it.
@lasvegasjh that's right royal navy found titanic before Ballard they found it with hms hecate but navy records are classified until 2027 look up hms hecate and also sciences et avenir in 1977 they were present when titanic was found not Ballard

@galoon Actually, it might be possible that there were still people inside while the ship was going down, especially all the steerage and crewmen that didn't even make it up to the boat deck. So, it is quite possible that there were people trapped on the lower decks while the ship was sinking.
@missindianagirl89 all GATTi,s of London ITALIAN waiters were held below whilst ship sank non were saved a deplorable event never mind the third class held below no of first class children lost 2 no third class lost 80percent kind regards
@motorguzzi100 Yes, the Gatti's people were all part of the Ritz Carlton establishment which owned Gatti's of London, of course. If I remember correctly, the Gatti's employees operated the Titanic's A La Carte Restaurant onboard. I think Luigi Gatti himself was last seen on deck, but I agree--none of the waiters and staff had much chance to survive; Gatti's remains were recovered after the disaster.
@missindianagirl89 Oh, yes, there definitely were people who were still below decks when she sank, but probably not very many. Some survivors, including Archibald Gracie, saw a massive crowd of steerage passengers come up onto the Boat Deck about 20 minutes or so before the ship actually sank--these were the people who were seen rushing toward the stern by observers in the lifeboats. We do know from survivors' accounts that some steerage passengers didn't even try to go up on deck.
@galoon there were massive amounts held below decks some officers especially fifth officer LOWE had to apologise american inquiry because they did not like Italians all gatt,s of London staff held below whilst ship sank non survived also first class children 2 lost third class 80percent almost total wipe out kind regards
@missindianagirl89 ship was full of third class people first class children lost 2 third class lost 80percent almost total wipe out a very first class only ship not a kate and leo ship at all
It was a terible thing that went down it's a shame I wish I could go In there and swim around or take those plates and put them in a tribute and at least that captian went down with the ship
@TheGoyanks yup went down with ship but almost went down with 4 other ships he grounded the Adriatic just 3 yrs before titanic and grounded 2 others plus damaged olympic and responsible for coal fires on 3 others kind regards
I makes me so sad to think of how that person felt while he drowned. I am speaking of the skeletal corpse photograph shown on the floor of the Atlantic.
You know, in my life, I've drowned, hand has been engulfed in flame, I have been chased by a bear, been in a car accident, I could go on all day. But, there is not one other thing in the world that scares the shit out of me like a sunken ship does. I don't know why, it just does. Resting in the abyss, surrounded by dark waters. I get chills even looking at pictures of the Titanic, just thinking, what the hell else is down there that we haven't discovered yet?
The Titanic is beautiful even decomposing and rotting away. (: wish I could have been on the ship (and lived to tell about it). I bet it was horrifying seeing the way the ship went down with people screaming in the water. Good video btw (:
@IceyBlue687 They were consumed by sea life down there, probably over a period of just a few months after the sinking. Any bones they missed would have been dissolved by the salt water. It's unlikely that many people were inside when the ship sank; most everyone was on deck by that time.
Due to the process in which they were made (heated under high pressure), porcelain plates are very resistent to corrosion and decomposition and have preserved quite nicely on the floor of the Atlantic. I'm not sure why those plates seen are still on the shelves, I guess they got lucky. There are some chilling images of plates still stacked neatly in the sand on the floor of the atlantic; due to a shelf falling over and eroding away, leaving the plates stacked as they once were
@MarZs0298 Yes, most of the staircase probably broke up & lifted out of the ship during the sinking--many pieces of it were observed floating in the water the next day.
No one is curious, because nearly anyone can guess that the plates were secured in place in the shelves, which at one point had glass mounted in the casedoor. That's why these particular plates didn't go anywhere.
Words may not explain how the Titanic describes to me... its about the line between death and life, the history intrigues me about Titanic the glory and passion and suffering, and the desire to live, when I am a following graduate I plan to make myself of an archeologist and discover Titanic,Pearl harbor,Emilia Earhart, and want pleases me in history.
Let's also. Remember video recording technology was incredibly new and rare and expensive. Not everybody or company owned a video camera in 1912. And you call me a sheep your living in the same society as I am.
@EverythingInane. Why bother leaving negative comments. You think it's fake but you watch the videos. I guess what few videos that are supposedly of the titanic leaving port on its maiden voyage are fake too I can't even imagine how you would think this is fake. I bet you have to be right all the time
@jamicabound fff, whatever sheep, belief it if u want. youl just be another part of the daluded masses. you said it urself 'wat few videos' only a few made up videos. they made it all up for subversive reasons.
@EverythingInane I would just like to point out that Father Browne, who boarded the Titanic April 12, 1912, and soon got off after his ticket had expired 3(?) days later, had taken photos since the time he boarded to the time he departed off the ship, proving that the Titanic was, in fact, very real.
Not to mention this footage of it at the bottom of the ocean. You, my friend, are an imbecile.
I went to an exhibit at the mts center with cool artifacts and some cool facts too...one of them said something like it will only be there for about 15 more years then it will dissolve.
@1shine100 No photoage exists of the titanic at all, even tho cameras were around obviously and it was "suposedly" a big event. its all jjust a bunch of computer generated imagry. you saw the movie, did u think that was real to? titanic was invented in recent years to make money at the boxoffice. sheeple.
@magicicyjourney Ya, I heard that too, which would be great, but I still really want them to resurrect the original and bury the bones in an actual grave.
@JCistGottMitUns There is absolutely no way of raising this ship from 2 1/2 miles from underwater and if they did it would disintegrate because it is so incredibly fragile.
amazing footage and graphics...very well done [=

But, there is not one other thing in the world that scares the shit out of me like a sunken ship does. I don't know why, it just does. Resting in the abyss, surrounded by dark waters. I get chills even looking at pictures of the Titanic, just thinking, what the hell else is down there that we haven't discovered yet?

Great job, especially with the "ghosts" superimposed on the wreckage so you could see what parts of the ship were being used as. Thanks!

The Titanic is beautiful even decomposing and rotting away. (: wish I could have been on the ship (and lived to tell about it). I bet it was horrifying seeing the way the ship went down with people screaming in the water. Good video btw (:
IceyBlue687 3 weeks ago 2
So what about the people in their cabins that died? Did their bodies just decompose underwater?
IceyBlue687 3 weeks ago
@IceyBlue687 damn it I wish someone would answer ur question. I wanna know!!
tysonfor1 3 weeks ago
@IceyBlue687 They were consumed by sea life down there, probably over a period of just a few months after the sinking. Any bones they missed would have been dissolved by the salt water. It's unlikely that many people were inside when the ship sank; most everyone was on deck by that time.
galoon 2 weeks ago
Due to the process in which they were made (heated under high pressure), porcelain plates are very resistent to corrosion and decomposition and have preserved quite nicely on the floor of the Atlantic. I'm not sure why those plates seen are still on the shelves, I guess they got lucky. There are some chilling images of plates still stacked neatly in the sand on the floor of the atlantic; due to a shelf falling over and eroding away, leaving the plates stacked as they once were
MitellProductions 3 weeks ago
wait.... so the WHOLE grand staircase disappeared ??! O__O because that HUGE hole in the middle was where the grand staircase is supposed to be....
MarZs0298 3 weeks ago
@MarZs0298 Yes, most of the staircase probably broke up & lifted out of the ship during the sinking--many pieces of it were observed floating in the water the next day.
galoon 2 weeks ago
>>Anyone else curious how those dishes are stacked so nicely?
@creatorofdragon

BARBIE101ILY 3 weeks ago
It looks so amazing, I can hardly imagine how breathtaking it would have looked in it's glory days.
I love the 'ghosts' of the guests they show walking along the decks and the grand staircase...

Let's also. Remember video recording technology was incredibly new and rare and expensive. Not everybody or company owned a video camera in 1912. And you call me a sheep your living in the same society as I am.
jamicabound 3 weeks ago
@EverythingInane. Why bother leaving negative comments. You think it's fake but you watch the videos. I guess what few videos that are supposedly of the titanic leaving port on its maiden voyage are fake too I can't even imagine how you would think this is fake. I bet you have to be right all the time
jamicabound 3 weeks ago
@jamicabound fff, whatever sheep, belief it if u want. youl just be another part of the daluded masses. you said it urself 'wat few videos' only a few made up videos. they made it all up for subversive reasons.

@EverythingInane I would just like to point out that Father Browne, who boarded the Titanic April 12, 1912, and soon got off after his ticket had expired 3(?) days later, had taken photos since the time he boarded to the time he departed off the ship, proving that the Titanic was, in fact, very real.
Not to mention this footage of it at the bottom of the ocean. You, my friend, are an imbecile.

katsgonewild1 4 weeks ago
@katsgonewild1 Achronim of Royal Mail Ship. Sometimes you'll read Royal Mail Steamer which is not correct at all.
FURY1958 4 weeks ago
@katsgonewild1 RMS stands for Royal Mail Steamer. These ships carried mail between Europe and America as well as passengers.

If the water pressure down there is so high. How is some of the metal and wood and everything else not colapsed or even squished?

@1shine100 No photoage exists of the titanic at all, even tho cameras were around obviously and it was "suposedly" a big event. its all jjust a bunch of computer generated imagry. you saw the movie, did u think that was real to? titanic was invented in recent years to make money at the boxoffice. sheeple.

Raise it, raise it, raise it, raise it! RAISE IT AND RESTORE IT! Have it cross the sea and finish its voyage! That will give them rest!

watermermaid1999 4 weeks ago
@JCistGottMitUns There is absolutely no way of raising this ship from 2 1/2 miles from underwater and if they did it would disintegrate because it is so incredibly fragile.
