I think this record is my " gold" I have heard it now and then for 20 eyars now. My son now 19 heard this, then he was going to sleep and I listen to Ry Cooder in the living room. And today he can play on his gipson and I can heard some of the inspiration from this favorit cd. All the numbers on the movie track is art ..
The most wonderful monologue in cinema history, I feel. Always produces a pit in my stomach and a sting in my eyes. Ry Cooder just adds to the magic.
Actually went there once (Paris Texas) - not on a pilgrimage, just because it was nearby where I had to pass by on a work trip... A boy from the Isle of Wight, no less! Added to the wonder of it all...
One of my favorite monologues -- he is visiting his ex in hidden view, she has no idea it is him, until he gives up enough to let it in... I am learning this monologue for auditions... very long!
I love this movie. Cooder's acoustic slide guitar and song selections are a true capture of this heart wrenching story. This clip is the heart of the movie. The background song is "Cancion Mixteca" with the recurring line, "Oh, that I would die of loneliness". The face to face reflection of the two at minute 10:50 is a subtle testimony which belies the depth of the story. Yes. Natasha is gorgeous and plays the role to perfection.
"I knew these people," "These two people. They were in love with each other. The girl was very young, about 17 or 18, I guess. And the guy was quite a bit older. He was kind of raggedy and wild. And she was very beautiful, you know?"
"Then he'd yell at her and start smashing things in the trailer." When Jane repeats, "the trailer?" it is clear she knows this is Travis (I think she knows sooner, and gives it away with a sideways flicker of her eye).
Gran escena, se crea un clima especial, pocas veces lograda en un film. Genial monologo por parte de Harry Dean Stanton. La Kinski usa muy bien el lenguaje corporal: la expresión en el rostro, sus tics, inclusive su parpadeo dice algo.
wonderful scene.

I fell from the chair when I saw Kinski for the first time. It was Cosi Come Sei movie. She was incredibly gorgerous back then, imo.
