I am so stoked to find this! I almost forgot about them but heard a song and I was so excited to have my daughter hear it. They were not given proper credit or airtime, if so they would be Women rock icons and in my opinion they ARE. I had their album in the early 70's and wore it out. these two songs had so much meaning for me and still do. I will be returning to listen often, Thank you for providing us this
6:07-6:39 - Nickey Barclay breaks it down and steps up the intensity several notches. Sometimes I think she was the real powerhouse in this band (a bit like Jon Lord in Deep Purple).
I saw a clip of Fanny playing in the 70s on some TV clip show in the 80s - it must have been Best of Beat Club. I thought they were incredible, but not only could I not find their records anywhere, I couldn't even find a mention of them anywhere in any rock history book. I began to think I'd imagined them, but then in the early 00s people began to talk about them on the internet, and I got the Reprise boxed set. So glad that they are finally being given even a tiny bit of their due.
Fanny cuts it! As well as challenging male dominance (of radio & chart play!) - this band proves wimin can go the distance given half a chance -
i got refused to play with a mediocre rock band, being told 'sorry love it's a man thing'- how i wish I'd had this to throw in their smug little, self satisfied, out-of-tune faces! Fanny rocks! <3

@jeannedelafeuillee Fanny rocks indeed. One of the great bands of the seventies, and they were absolutely suppressed by rock historians. Their studio stuff is badly produced but their live cuts show that they kicked serious ass. -Btw, any man who says that rock is a 'man thing' clearly isn't worth playing with. Assholes.
I want to know what the F the deal is with the drummer @ 2:20. Come on honey. This is the real deal. You are on stage. Wake the F up and ROCK. She looks like she's ready to crash right then and there...
@theporkiestpig007 Not all drummers want to be in the spotlight. We are there to provide the back beat for the rest of the band. In a 4 or 5 piece band there are enough egos to go around without the drummer adding theirs.
@MrMKH2010 has it right, Porkie. Ever watch Charlie Watts play? Trust me, Alice could kick ass with the best of 'em when the occasion demanded it. But she was definitely from the "hold the bottom together and kick the time" school of playing, which I for one respect much more than the flashy stuff.
Thanks for uploading this video. I have their vinyl alb. from '69' 'Fanny' and it's great to see them perform. I love this band. One of the greatest female rock bands ever!
I ws born in 71 and when I entered the world Rock n Roll was still good music to listen and many bands especially the new ones were going to make a impact even if they didn't go all the way. One of those bands were Fanny and they were a great band that for so many years been so over looked. If they would've proper managenent they could've gone huge.
I remember to Fanny - I had one or two albums of them, one was called Charity Ball I think, but this is 35 years ago. Originally they came from Sacramento - they started with the band name Wild Honey in the late 60ies. They learned very fast. This was one of the first girl rockbands with a good sound.
ha-ha, i just realized this progression is very much like "got to choose" by kiss, but hey, methinks i likes dis one much mo' bettah, ja -- not to take away from orig. kiss, good for what they were @ the time -- i saw 'em twice w/ orig. lineup, full makeup, tho more progressively-minded pals laughed, but hey, what a show -- but seriously, these gals had it goin' on, shoulda been bigger hitz, but i do remember "butter boy" when it had airplay, long time gone, y'all -- ok, back 2 me walker, ta!
great to see this , seen em live in Manchester soo many years ago . tried to google em but typing Fanny into google well you can guess the rest. found at last .thanks for the upload
It conains some 90 tracks including a number of live versions.
I saw them in Croydon in the ealry 70s. They had to walk through the audience with their guitars to get to the stage. They seemed a little shy and intimidated. But when they started playing - they were literally unforgetably good. Youtube is marvelous - to watch them again after almost 40 years.
Used to have the Charity Ball album on cassette, but it got chewed about 10 years ago - this brings back the memories. Best bit for me is from 4:45 onwards
Don't forget we're talking the early to mid 1970s when this band was around. I think there were still too many chauvinists not willing to give them the respect they deserved. Until the GO-GOs in the early '80s, almost no all-women bands made it big.
Finally, a YouTube Fanny vid with decent image and sound quality! And they were so hot in 1971 - imagewise and soundwise! And me a horny teenage boy...if either of the Millington sisters knew the thoughts I had about them back then, they'd never stop slapping my face. LOL.
Thanks for sharing, brixphil. I love seeing clips of Fanny perform during their "hey" day. Here's to hoping The Midnight Special clips surface someday.
I want this video on my e1108 phone.

not quite as subtle as TATU's 'feeling the rain cumming over my face', but a much better band obviously.
