  • Funny how you hold your camera (left hand)

    BUT

The foto's and explanation are really good, really enjoyed this

I found a new channel to subscribe to thanks

  • Very nice shots with some fairly affordable lighting equipment! Well done!

  • @ShutterThink I'm interested to know what brand of flash bracket you're using? I've seen a few from Interfit and Lastolite, but they don't appear strong enough to secure three flashes and triggers.. If you could let us know which one it is you're using and possible where to buy, that would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

  • @choodmedia Foursquare bracket made by Lightware Direct

  • I have a nikon D3000 can I ever get those kind of photos with my image sensor? For some reason your pictures look like magazine material compared to mine

  • @infringinator it is all about using your gear the right way. If you expose it correctly, light it well and edit it in a decent way, your image will look fantastic. I shot with a Canon 20D and a kit lens for four years before I could afford my current camera and I built a portfolio with it.

  • @infringinator how do you edit your photos

  • How were you able to sync at 1/5000th without the dreaded underexposure stripe?

  • @shamroc77 When you are using Canon strobes with a Canon body (or Nikon with Nikon) you can't get that line. It's only when you are using other brands of strobes and your camera can't communicate with those strobes.

  • @ShutterThink Ah, ok. Let me see if I've understood you correctly. As long as I'm using the built-in wireless communication (Nikon CLS, in my case) with other gear from the same [Nikon] manufacturer, it will allow for such high flash sync speeds?

  • @shamroc77 You have to use a master flash (unless you have an internal commander in your camera) to trigger your slave flashes. Then there is an option in your camera settings that allows high speed sync. The Radiopopper PXs than translate the infrared signal to a radio signal for greater distance and reliability when shooting out in the sun.

  • Boss! Thanks Nick, much appreciated. Great video, super techniques.

  • this video was helpful thanks!

the music is kind of distracting tho, i wanted to hear what you were saying not the music

  • Cool personal style Nick. thanks for showing us how you work. Shooting 5-10 brands in 2-3 hours, man you work real fast! Does the 5DII images print at large enough sizes for all the promo work your brands require like store fronts & billboards? Thanks

  • @global001 These are for use online only for the most part. They are owned by JackThreads and not the brands, so no billboards.

  • @ShutterThink Thanks

  • Hi Nick, thank you for creating the video. It's really helpful. What camera are you using to get ISO 50, please? Thanks Heidi x

  • @spideyheidi Canon 5DII

  • @ShutterThink thank you I didn't know it could offer that ..another reason to lust after one :O)) good luck with your work :)

  • Hello love the video, I am a fan of using unmodified lights as well. I have used that tri-flash as well, I didn't like it because it casts multiple shadows. I see that you appear to be dealing with that problem in part by keeping the light to one side or the other and trying not to cast a nose shadow.

I ended up making a custom holder that keeps all the flashes on the same axis casting a single shadow. Do you have any other tips for avoiding multiple shadows when using a triflash mount?

  • on 2:19 only one of the three canon speedlites is actually working :P

  • more tutorials like this awsome vid!

  • thanks for sharing

  • Just one question - how do you sync your strobes with so high shutter speeds?

  • @zakknafein With PocketWizards, if you can afford them. The MiniTT1-Canon Pocket Wizard and the Nikon version have High Speed Sync capability. If your flash can shoot it, the pocket wizard can match it in speed ;)

  • @zakknafein look at 0:35, receivers are radiopopper

  • awesome video, very helpful, thanks for putting this together!

  • Thanks for sharing. Great use of Speedlites!

  • Great video, and great photographs!

  • One of the best strobist videos out there :)

  • Did he burp at 4:20 ?

    Great video, really informative.

Shame about the uninspiring monotonous voiceover.

But very a good video! Thank you :D

  • Omg! Great photos

How the heck do you make hard light from the speedlights look so good and flattering?

  • @IsaacMaganaMusic If you balance the ambient light with the strobe light, any light can look good. Especially since these are shots of a scene. If these were head shots, I would use a shoot-thru umbrella and a reflector for nice, soft, even light. Plus, hard light looks good on guys. Cheers!

  • @ShutterThink You are completely right! Thanks :)

  • @ShutterThink Nice video and great work. Could you tell us a little bit about how you post-process the images?

  • Impressing work and amazing photos. Really interesting to see and listen to your process.

  • Awesome video.

  • Awesome Video, you explain the technical side very well. Keep the good work up.
