Another sad thing is that people working normal jobs are needed for the economy, and these are the first to get canned if something goes wrong. Hi ya'll, I have been traveling for the past 2 years, just got back a few months ago, and I have been trying to figure out why the entire planet is upset? I think it all boils down to Capitalism! IT SHOULD BE REGULATED! A few months ago I read that Bill Gates Makes the annual income of 100 Million average American Citizens? Maybe Windows 7 should only be $25 instead of $150. While this was going on people noticed house prices rising and they speculated on a "sure bet" by taking out the biggest loan for a house that the banks would lend.

While I have no problem with salaries for personnel, I believe unnecessary experimental projects are not worth even researching in a time like this. I have always found it interesting that the middle class and upper middle class in the US believe they will achieve the status of the 1%. It will not happen for them but they vote and act as if they will be there, some day. Maybe this is why Americans are in such financial debt.

One of my favorite statistics is the bankruptcy rate of those who win the lottery. I forget the exact number but I remember that it was staggering. Being rich isn't all it's cracked up to be, believe me I was there. You get this notion in your head that you can do anything, but then you realize you don't know what. For example, say you want to make a movie...You tell yourself "I am going to make the greatest movie ever made" then bang that's as far as you are going to get...Make a movie about what? Then you learn what is involved, that money is the least of it. Then you learn that is what life is about as well. You can't buy everything.

By artificially keeping interest rates low, and incentivising banks to loan to the sub prime market cheap money flooded into the housing sector and bid the prices of houses up.
While this was going on people noticed house prices rising and they speculated on a "sure bet" by taking out the biggest loan for a house that the banks would lend.
Banks didnt care because they could reposses and make money on the house.

While I have no problem with salaries for personnel, I believe unnecessary experimental projects are not worth even researching in a time like this. Our Secretary of Defense announced recently that if we cut the DoD budget at all, it would be "Armageddon." :(

One of my favorite statistics is the bankruptcy rate of those who win the lottery. I forget the exact number but I remember that it was staggering. Of course luck plays a role in life, but people who get wealthy and stay wealthy do so largely because of behavior, not just luck. The lottery stats prove it.
