You want to compare it with Nikon or Canon? The difference between 14bit and 16bit colour is a lot. If you learn more about printing, you'll know. They are very different. Expensive? Hasselblad is more expensive and the building quality is not as good as the S2. If you used to touch both of them, you'd feel it. I'd better use Leaf Aptus or Sinar Hy6 than carrying a Hasselblad. But 5*4 and 10*8 films are still better than any digital camera. If you don't understand any of these, shut up.
There's a sucker born every minute... $6000 mamiya 645d blow that thing away don't be fooled by the leica badge it's just an very expensive slr with a 37.5mp sensor with no crop ability, whithout essential camera buttons like: iso or af selector, and which has less performance than a nikon d40
no .. reason is $2000 or $7000 camera (nikon& canon) we will be get it on sale day between $1000 to$ 500 that's kind a business trick but that cameras doesn't have Quality like use to. but leica if u pay $6000 value will be hold next 10 or 15 years they don't change modal every six moths..!!
pros don't really need very high quality in their images, or at least the ones that you are talking about, that is sports photographers and the press. However, there is something called "fashion" and "portraiture" and none of those pros use 35mm systems, as the quality does not fit their needs. They also happen to be the richest section of photography, and all of them use either medium format digitals(hassalblad H3, Phase One, Mamiya.....) or, if this Leica proves itself to them, the Leica S2.
um, the Leica S2 isn't yet in production. That's probably why you don't see many. Also, 35mm pictures aren't generally blown up to the size of a billboard(nor can they be) While something like a large format negative or medium format slide can. When you get into areas of landscapes and modeling and advertising with photography, 35mm is rarely used (accept of course by the great, Galen Rowell, landscape artist).
nikon and canon's cameras sold like hot cakes in the amateur market, not exactly the smartest, but yes, the cheapest(thriftiest). I agree with lunnox666
"...la S2 è una fotocamera dalle dimensioni ultracompatte..."??
dubito.

It's huge and super expensive. I'm sure some have a need for the super cool S2, but I'm happier putting the money towards a Porsche down payment.

I was right. The large format cameras are best for...well mostly studio purposes like portraits. Hmmm wonder how much does one of these cost.

By that logic, theres no point of having videos of Ferraris and other expensive cars on here either.
