After Cat Steven stated that he thought that Salmon Rushdie should be executed because of the "Satanic Verses", they pulled it from subsequent publishing of the album and stopped performing it live. Given that Cat Stevens (or Yusuf Islam) stated that someone should be executed for writing a piece of fiction about Mohammad, it makes sense not to perform or sell a song called "Peace Train".

With that said, Natalie has vocal cords of gold and I love the Maniacs.

@aarongman He was misquoted. He didn't advocate the fatwa. He simply answered the reporters question about what the Koran says pertaining to what Rushdie wrote.

o.k yunng'ins...natalie is striaght (that's why her relationship with Michael Stipe didn't work out) ...and if you like this song...enjoy it here because when Cat Stevens went Muslim she retracted this recording and re-released this album without the track of Peace Train.
