hey doctor i have a question, i have had an ekg done, and the DR, sayed my heart was bigger than a normal size heart. and other doctors have sayed my heart is long.... but it isnt dialated. so if my heart is bigger than a normal size heart but isnt dialated, does that still mean i have an enlarged heart? and another doctr sayed my heart was enlarged but there were no signs of heart failure and i was in perfect health, please reply DR.Paule, i would like your opinion! many thanks!
@idahoheartmom that's more likely to be hypertrophic. That is genetically related while dialated is self inflicted by chemical abuse. Check with a specialist , remember always get a second opinion.
Hi, thank you so much for such an informative and educational video. I really appreciate your clarity as a medical student trying to undertand this.
However, after 6:52 you say that there is thinning of the myocardium - is that true? Kumar and Clark says "DCM has a prevalence of 1 in 2500 and is characterized by dilatation of the ventricular chambers and systolic dysfunction with preserved wall thickness." (Page 792)
I do not believe that alcohol is the most common cause of DCM. My husband and son both have DCM, both diagnosed as infants. I know many many many people with cardiomyopathy that is either genetic or idopathic.
I think there are far more geneticly link cases than have been identified as geneticly related.
what stress test i think its ABSOLUTELY wrong the best way is to look coronary artery disease in dilated cardiomyopathy is angiography........
Correct me if i am wrong
