Mariah Carey's as flat as a pancake on this song, when compared to Tina - I've always though MC was WAY overrated for years, while TA's been underrated.

Why are you people comparing? Tina recorded this in 1998 while Mariah recorded it 11 years later. Tina recorded this when she was at her peak (1996-2000).  BUT, sad thing is, Tina is older than Mariah and has managed to sustain her voice. BUT THEN AGAIN, who has had more exposure, worked harder and simply did not rest?? DING!

I am a huge Mariah fan, but I have always loved the Tina version and will always.

Well I know who I'd rather listen to AND watch, and it's not the plasticised American screecher who abused her vocal cords by showing off for 20 years, and now can barely project her chest voice. Tina Arena has such good technique and control that (like kd lang) she will sound better as she matures. Mariah's glory is well behind her now, and that's a sad thing because for a few years there in the nineties she was simply phenomenal.

Tina took a huge Foreigner Song and Completely made it her "OWN"...

After that most of the "Cover" versions by other singers including Mariah sounded like imitations of Tina's version..

I like both but definitely prefer Tina's more upbeat & emotional Version.

When Miriah just sings a Song & doesn't try to constantly "emphasis" her "Voice Range" I love her singing but once again in her arrangement the emphasis was on RANGE again..

Believe me im not bias. The song was meant to be a vocal performance, she did that for her fans (like me) who wanted to hear her show of her voice. Tina's voice has gone better through the years,Mariah's voice was better in earlier days.Saw some really bad performances of her live,whatever the reason may be.You can do a lot in the studio,but live performances mostly dismantle the weaknesses.Although I think Mariah has been on the top for having one of the best voices ever!But now after i've seen Tina three times in one year,and never a false note,i must say she's my all time favourite besides Lara Fabian,another great voice.My opinion,point

Mariah should've done this track around the time when she sang 'If It's Over'...when she was 'firing on all cylinders' so to speak...she would've 'knocked it outta the ballpark' then!!It's almost impossible to 'judge' who is 'better' than the other,as they have such different voices!!Tina still has her voice 'intact' here,whereas Mariah hasn't (and God alone knows WHY Mariah seems to have 'lost' her voice...i don't recall anythin about no krak with her...so your guess is as good as mine,LoL!!)!!
