  • Such a modest, yet pleased, beautiful smile there at the end.

  • Judy leaves you feeling so contented...she is such a gentle-woman with gentle songs to share.

And yes...I too agree she is perfect!!!

  • i found this by mistake i feel pretty awesome like looking back in time(:

  • I had no idea Judy Collins could play guitar like thqat

  • I love, love, love these old videos of Judy you have. Thanks for posting! I've watched them over a dozen of times. Saw her live a few years ago for the first time (I'm in my early 20's)...she's wonderful still!!

  • gem

  • How beautiful.

  • In case anyone doesn't know this, most of Judy Collins records have come out on CD.I just learned about this recently.

  • Thanks a million Cal44 for these super Judy clips. Looking for Judys version of "farewell" as performed on her compilation "Recollections" from 1969. There is simply nothing better than Judy in the raw from the 60's.

  • dammed good guitar playing with a higly unusual dropped C on E6, hardly any tension left on that string, dammed good singing too, cant understand why Pete seems so indifferent to her performing. To me Judy's a better performer than Pete.

  • Pete's show would mimic the 1960's coffehouse aptmosphere. You might be mistaking that casual attitude for indifference. He has always shown nothing by respect and high regard for Judy Collins

  • @lydiadafferdunn Or for every artist that he had in his show. Sometimes he would chime in, and play some excellent banjo or mandolin backing music, but often he would just respectfully sit silent and let his guest perform. I almost dare say that the performances Judy Collins did on his show (most of them are on youtube) are amongst the best - if not the best - she ever did.

  • what a talent....

  • Damn- I don't know much by Judy Collins, but damn. She is perfect so far.

  • she has never ever been off key.

    i miss my nana judy<3

  • she was really your nana? thats cool..

  • she can really play the guitar plus she has perfect pitch. I bet she plays piano.

  • She's amazing on the piano! Gosh .. what am I saying ... Judy's just amazing... period.

  • @electricslipper She originally trained to become a classical pianist. Lucky for us and her that she soon chose folk music instead.

  • my favorite is her version of turn turn turn, look it up

  • amazing footage! thank you, for posting this video! excellent.

  • does anybody know where i can get the tabs/chords for this - its amazing! =]

  • they better start opening up the faults from the filmore before all of us are gone and no one will care about them

  • you must mean vaults

  • Some mighty fine guitar work by her. Underestimated player, as were most of the folk greats.

  • I LOVE this... I am going to see her this Sunday, she's such a diva, I can't wait!!!!!!!

  • Absolutely terrific!!

  • I used to see her on this Pete Seeger show and on Hootenanny when I was a teenager. I lover her then and still do. Thanks for the posting and bringing back fond memories of a truly magical era.

  • This is one of my favorite "forgotten"/"lost" Dylan songs (his version, "Mama You've Been on My Mind" is on Bootleg Series Vol. 1-3). Judy does a beautiful version.

  • These old clips are wonderful! Where do you find tem?

  • What a grate version of this song amazing xxxxx

  • is Pete drinking coffee or liquor? lol

  • Thank you so much for uploading this video,it is so nice to see Judy playing the guitar and to hear her voice is truely heaven on Earth for me :)I wish some record company would put all of her songs on some cd's or dvds.

  • She sang.

  • when dylan sings mamma youve been on my mind...he dont mean his mother...

  • yep.. daddy is hip talk for boyfriend....kids today..lol

  • JC has been and always be the grand dame of Folk Music

  • takes me back. I had friends who sang this together. 1965.

  • Sheeeesh, some melodies are just so deserving of , oh, let's say, TEN MORE verses.

  • Truly great to see Judy on video after enjoying her records for over 40 years. Amazed to see it's her own fingerpicking, always thought it was some hired axe on the records who did the tricky stuff. Love that gitarriff pattern, someone figured it out? Could somebody please upload so early in the spring and coming of the roads too? Please!

  • Seeger absolutely despises Dylan, he clearly stated it after a Newport Jazz festival when he performed on stage with amplified guitar during the festival, drove Seeger absolutely mad...

  • Hmmmm...let's see...that was 1965, right?? And you speak (despiseS) as if Seeger's contempt continues to the present. Is this so??

  • I caught the statement on a popular Dylan Documentary, I will have to check back as to which one. Seeger was really riled because Dylan showed up at the Festival with amplified guitars and was going to ax the cables because he thought it inappropriate for the Folk festival.

  • Well, "despise" is a rather strong term. But, what I really object to is your selection of TENSE, ie, "despises" as opposed to despised, perhaps. I gotta think that Seeger is man enough to forgive....it's BEEN 30+ years.

  • He is presently 88, you are right how can tell how he thinks, maybe he has alzheimers and can't anymore

  • Actually, he is still sharp as a tack at 89.

  • not true

  • Just check "No Direction Home" (2005), where he talks about the incident, I don't think you can attribute word 'despise' there.

  • is this joans or hers

  • Dylans

  • I don't think she is singing to Pete Seeger or Bob Dylan. If I am not mistaken, that is Tommy Makem.

  • it's pete seeger

  • I had to go back and look. I have no idea why I made such a stupid remark. I must have been watching something else at the time. Of course Tommy Makem had nothing to do with it. EEEEEEK. So sorry. And you are right. Pete Seeger ruled and still rules.

  • Why'd she need to change it to daddy? Girls have mothers too...

  • I think the daddy is perhaps meant to refer to both a lover and a father???

  • marie, the song was "mama you been on my mind" she changed it to reflect her sex.

"mama" and "daddy" in the folk world of the 60's meant "my old man" "my old lady" it is definetly lover not father jeeeeeezzzeee

  • damn i never knew how good Judy was as a guitar player! this is fabulous!

  • i never truly realize how great she really was. I was only introduce to just 2 great songs of her-both sides now and send in the clowns. I can't believe growing up in that era that I could of missed such a talent as her. thanks to youtube i can enjoy them now and forever.

  • This is just such a pure version of this song. Singing it to Pete Seeger just must have seemed like singing the song to G-d and no kidding Judy sounds like an angel.

What a gift to have it posted here for us all to enjoy..

    Thanks.

  • Baez and Collins are actually good friends and like each other alot. Not sure why some people need to pit them against each other on here. They're both great artists.

  • one of the best tracks ever - beats joan baez by miles

  • this song is just beautiful

  • Lovely. She looks beautiful too.

  • this is great! never liked Baez and Dylan together vocally.

  • I still think the duet with Bob and Joan is better

  • On Judy's 5th Album.Love without possession, or a fantasy of freedom, or a deja-vu caught from the window of an east-bound train - all, and more. Judy Collins "The Judy Collins' songbook" Great song/Great Voice/Great thanks !

  • Even superior to Joan Baez's version at that time !

    Great thanks !
