  • Dare I say that these are the best cartoons that the Fleischers ever did?

    You bet I dare!

  • The trick to a good Superman tune is that you can sing "Superman" to it. Try it.

    SUPERMAAAAAN

    SUPERMAAAAAN

    SUPERMAN SUPERMAN SUPERMAAAAN

  • The mad scientst wants to strike at midnight...good thing we know where he lives.

  • It's fun but... eeeeeeeeeeh it isn't really much more than just fun. I think Bruce Timm made a better written Superman series, still love this though.

  • Those were the real cartoons! Cheers for the amazing Superman!

  • Even though they are in public domain, we can still watch these on Youtube right?

  • @MegamanNG

Being in the public domain means that you CAN watch these on youtube..lol

  • "Hey Clark, while you're in the store room could you grab us some more paper clips?"

  • This needs to be riffed.

  • @voicebox64 See "Superman and the Concentrated Light Ray" by Loading Ready Run.

  • hihihi

  • This show proves that Clark Kent and Superman have entirely different powers. Superman can change direction mid-air (this show never really decided if he can fly or if he just leaps, though I kinda like the leaping) and punch lasers, whereas Clark Kent can enter a supply closet completely unnoticed and break the fourth wall (little nod to the audience at the end).

  • I did NOT see these as a kid, as I am 18. I still like them though.

  • I know you're all going to hate me for this but... at 8:49 It's over 90!!! :D

lol, seriously though this is a great cartoon. I remember watching them with my dad. We used to sit around and watch them all day. I loved'em.

  • @sonicXrules123

No, I think I love you for it.

    It's over 9000!!!!

  • There are some bad things about youtube. BUT, many good things. Your videos, especially these old treasures, are good. Now, even if something bad happens, these will be preserved and available everywhere because of you and other enthusiasts like you. On my channel, the furthest I go back: The 1970s lol!

I've got VERY short superpower clips from 1970s Spiderman, the Six Million Dollar Man and a few others. I don't care if anyone subscribes: They're there! Thank you for sharing your old gems.

  • 2:19 a 2:22 stereoptical process?

  • one of the best musical scores from Sammy Timberg

  • Mad Scientist: I don't believe it, he isn't human

    Gee you think?

  • Superman can punch a laser. That's badass.

  • @SIFAssassin That man in a wrestler's outfit is punching a laser. Your argument is invalid.

  • I see your a fan of the Superman aswell, I'm gathering a team together to do an Abridged series of the Superman Animated Series, as TeamFourStar did with the Dragonball Z Saga. I'm not asking you to join or anything, but if you want to subscribe that would be terrific. We're going to be doing all 3 volumes, and all the Superman Animated movies. It will be starting 2011 December 1rst. With your help we can get our name known as well as TeamFourStar's. Thanks again, friend. We are 'SupermanShield'

  • superman just created the biggest nuclear meltdown

  • I use to own this on vhs when I was 5

  • Why is there such a sense of....overall goodness about this superman that they couldn't create in today's cinema. Christopher Reave, Donner, and John Williams did it very well. I wonder, is it because it's almost not OK to be patriotic today? Anytime you mention American anything there's always somebody there to censor you or say that America sucks for some reason. It's sad that we can't all just love Superman anymore. He's too good of a thing, and the world doesn't embrace 'goodness' anymore.

  • @Dale747474 I get watcha mean. I think the major problem is that Americans tend to be very cynical indeed about our own country (not without reason). That said, perhaps they'll address this in the next movie. Superman stands for the American Ideals and the American Way. Basically, what's good about the country. That needs to be made distinct. (Though truthfully American Ideology has changed somewhat since the '40s. But that's why you make him stand for modern American ideals in new films)

  • @TheZacula Well, consider that America has also come a long way in the form of civil rights for women and minorities, which didn't exist in the 40's. We have an even stronger military today than we did in WWII, we have elected a black president, and we still provide more aid to other countries than any powers combined in the history of the world. America may have changed, but it's still the best country there is. America can be proud.

  • @Dale747474 That's... kinda what I was saying. American ideology has CHANGED, but I think it's in a good way. America has much to be proud of.

  • not bad for their time... better than some these days

  • "Not bad"?

    IT ROCKS!!

  • @publicsuperman this is just amazing! in1941, make this kind of work, much better than a lot of things news

  • @TopazSkillMauler adjusted for inflation these shorts had the largest budget for any animated film ever made.

  • Is it me or is this a rare copy where the corrrect end logo cue is used.

  • I think these are from that Bosko Video Superman DVD that everyone said it was wonderful. I saw reviews saying that the restorations were brilliant.

  • Oh my god!

This is so beautiful, I did not think the cartoons were so well made at that time. The soundtrack, the effects of light and movement. It is a masterpiece

  • so you're not a fan of the looney, tunes or disneys work of that time, like mickey mouse, donald duck, goofy and their feature cinema films like snow white and the seven dwarfs, pinochio, bambi and co?

  • Oh, yes. My childhood was watching Snow White, Pinocchio, Bambi and others. I had forgotten. You're right, but this Superman's cartoon is fantastic. Today, the cartoons are so poorly made, I feel sad because children today do not know what was really good. It seems things that I draw in the the chair in my classroom =/

  • it depends on what you mean, i mean the simpsons created their own classic style, just like south park or king of the hill, but series like family guy are really elemantary schoon niveau, but the classics like disney and looney tunes are unbeatable, i hate that they almost never make any classic drawing movies anymore, i mean toy story is one of my favorite disney movies ever, but those older ones are just so great, probably because they weren't made only for 10 year olds but for cinema.

  • @CaverinWilson

If you think cartoons today are poorly made today than you need to go and continue sleeping under you're rock.

  • They don't make cartoons like this anymore... :(
