@dhiz92 You are severely mislead and mis-informed. Do you REALLY think that God, Jehova, Jaweh, ONLY created music JUST to please Him? If so, you are wrong in so many ways. He created music 1) so that us humans can worship Him 2) to please ourselves with entertainment and joy. 3) and communication. Not dogging you, but, open your mind and heart a little further.
I was worried when I heard that Stryper was covering songs by bands that denied God. But, after a lot of deliberation, I realized that all they are doing in their own way is thanking these bands for their MUSICAL influence...not lyrical. I thought the new album was great and can't wait for more original material. And for those that are judging them because of this, God knows their heart so if they're still remaining true to him, God will notice and bless Stryper. By the way I'm Christian.
@MrArpas 123 if you're going to go down the road of saying that music that isn't about God is evil and of the Devil then you should at least apply it to you're whole life and not watch show that aren't about God. And then I guess classical musical also is of the devil as it doesn't have any words. I made the choice a while ago to listen to almost only Christian bands. That doesn't mean that I won't listen to the occasional secular song as long as it's not about doing stuff I shouldn't.
@MrArpas123 Just because they cover their songs doesn't mean they're praising the devil. Yes, those other bands are secular, but have you ever caught yourself humming a secular song? Getting it stuck in your head? They're not praising the other metal bands anyways, they're just singing their songs. I'm a very strong Christian, and I understand exactly what you're saying, but don't be so radical about it.
This song HAS to go mainstream radio airplay! People are looking for different music to identify with nowadays, look what's happened to Justin Beiber (sic). Now they can finally gain mainstream acceptance. When they broke up, they opened the door for Chevelle and Creed, now they should come back!

@Godlywarrior100 They were part of the 80s heavy metal scene and pretty huge too. They really helped to give us something relevant to listen too back then, when most Christian music wasn't. Take a listen to some of their classic songs like "To Hell With the Devil" and "In God We Trust". Michael Sweet's vocals are amazing (still are). They took a lot of flak back then but have always continued forward.

Honestly (excuse the pun), Stryper have the best metal riffs... (classical/80s metal riffs) out of most bands (inc Judas Priest... who are epic). But the whole light hearted metal.. seems a lot brighter than most the dark metal.. makes me love it!
I love Stryper...They seem to use alot of Maiden Riffs.. This is not a bad thing...Maiden is one of my favorite bands...I love Maiden...And I love Stryper...What a mix..Huh?!!
It IS a good album & much better than Reborn but I wish they'd sing less about Christianity. They covered all that long ago. At some point you have to wonder if they are just preaching to the choir. I'm a HUGE Stryper fan & not knocking their faith. They're genuine & I respect that. I'd just like to see them do more stuff like the 'Against the Law' CD. It was refreshing cause it was just about making good, fun music. There's more to life than religion. I'm looking forward to the cover songs CD.

It's great to here the old Stryper return. Just glad they haven't tried to put the make up back on. I thought Reborn was a good album, but it was not that classic Stryper we are used to. They are the ones that turned me on to Christian Rock.
I have been a Stryper fan for 20 years. I saw them at Kings Island in Ohio and was immediately hooked. This album just picks up where they left off. Once again a great album !!!
Stryper is Awesome!!! In my opinion they really paved the way for the christian rock and metal artists we have now, and they had to put up with a lot of people coming against them for it. Thank God they did.

I played percussion for awhile growing up. Robert Sweet was one of my fav drummers growing up. It's also an enjoyment to watch him play live. he's nuts!! lol

All of the bands I listed are still releasing a new album every three or four years, except for Sabbath who are slower at the moment.
But in Stryper's defense, I guess there are actually a few other 80's bands who also departed from their original sound. Bon Jovi, Europe and Def Leppard all have made more AOR/pop/alternative sounding records in recent years...
I'm not sure what you mean by that. It's fine if you don't like the song/band, but when was Stryper ever an attempt to "kill metal"? Some christians love rock/metal (like me), and others don't. Just like non-christians, really.
In fact, there are lots of christian metal bands out there (some are a lot heavier than this, if that is what you meant). I can give you a few tips if you're interested. If not, that's okay too.

Sure! Some of my favourites are Theocracy, Divinefire, Oratorio, Driver, HB, Harmony, Sacred Warrior and Narnia. You might want to check them out. If you're looking for something heavier than that, try Demon Hunter, Seventh Angel, Becoming the Archtype, As I Lay Dying. (There's lots of other bands, of course, but it's a start...) Have fun!

Mostly Rockers, we like Stryper, not for the christian message so the high quality Rock and Hard tune they gave to us in the past and still going on. Honestly (excuse the pun), Stryper have the best metal riffs... (classical/80s metal riffs) out of most bands (inc Judas Priest... who are epic). But the whole light hearted metal.. seems a lot brighter than most the dark metal.. makes me love it!

It IS a good album & much better than Reborn but I wish they'd sing less about Christianity. They covered all that long ago. At some point you have to wonder if they are just preaching to the choir. I'm a HUGE Stryper fan & not knocking their faith. They're genuine & I respect that. I'd just like to see them do more stuff like the 'Against the Law' CD. It was refreshing cause it was just about making good, fun music. There's more to life than religion. I'm looking forward to the cover songs CD.

It's great to here the old Stryper return. Just glad they haven't tried to put the make up back on. I thought Reborn was a good album, but it was not that classic Stryper we are used to. They are the ones that turned me on to Christian Rock.

I have been a Stryper fan for 20 years. I saw them at Kings Island in Ohio and was immediately hooked. This album just picks up where they left off. Once again a great album !!!

And yes there is actually quite a bit of evidence supporting Christianity if you actually knew anything about it. I'm a 50 year old ordained Baptist minister. I had to retire from teaching school due to cancer, so, I have lots of time to listen to this.
Stryper and the other guys really rock for the Rock.
Were it not for the stigma attached, I'd still wear my ear ring, have more tattoos, and might even let my 70s fro grow back.
God is large and in charge.......praise Him with a loud noise and singing.

All of the bands I listed are still releasing a new album every three or four years, except for Sabbath who are slower at the moment.
But in Stryper's defense, I guess there are actually a few other 80's bands who also departed from their original sound. Bon Jovi, Europe and Def Leppard all have made more AOR/pop/alternative sounding records in recent years...

I'm not sure what you mean by that. It's fine if you don't like the song/band, but when was Stryper ever an attempt to "kill metal"? Some christians love rock/metal (like me), and others don't. Just like non-christians, really.
In fact, there are lots of christian metal bands out there (some are a lot heavier than this, if that is what you meant). I can give you a few tips if you're interested. If not, that's okay too.

If you're looking for something heavier than that, try Demon Hunter, Seventh Angel, Becoming the Archtype, As I Lay Dying. (There's lots of other bands, of course, but it's a start...) Have fun!

This isn't Stryper. It's Michael Sweet's soft pop solo music.
