  • Im in love with frank <3!

  • ghostwriter is jamal's grandfather.

  • @natswing probably

  • @natswing how u know??why??

  • how did Ghostwriter go between the 2 decades? If the past had already happened, how did it become a case of the 1980s? (90s)?

  • @MegaNFer81 You mean, how'd he get back at the end? Seems he took the slow path, same as Catherine -- hibernating in that diary for 65 years, like he was at the beginning of "Ghost Story." (Meaning at that point, he was sleeping in TWO books in Jamal's basement -- two different versions of himself!)

  • I think Frank is ghost of "Ghostwriter"

  • Love this episode!

  • Where is Lucy in 1993??

  • I wonder if the cops were embarressed that they couldn't catch the thief but a preteen boy could.

  • i dont know but... I find it kind of weird that catherine and frank end up together...

  • Miss the ghostwriter episodes

  • Oh yeah, the doc was tapping Mrs O'Boyle....see that look she gave him?

  • where have i seen the red head girl before???

  • How the hell is Gaby always smart enough to come up with plans and ideals but she wasnt smart enough to understand frank being a doctor saved the team?

  • Man, those were shitty cops.

  • Alternate ending: Frank didn't die but he and Catherine got divorced. Seeing the GW team reminds them of how special their bond is, and they decide to give their relationship another try. Ha-cha-cha!

  • So jamal's family ended living in the same house of the doctor who operated on Jamal's dad. That alone is cool

  • is it only me who finds it creepy that catherine saw herself and frank in the window?

  • @SaffronSnape I thought she was just remembering.

  • Okay, let me get this right. Lady, you believed a ghost was writing to you. You believed this ghost was traveling to the future. You believed he had friends in 1993. But you wouldn't believe these kids who knew the story that they were the future friends?

  • The team should have let her realize who they were before just blurting it out. Would have made for a more touching meeting.

  • lucy and catherine are very attractive chicks now... look them up. and its super weird that lucy is actually 2 years older than catherine.

  • the first season is now on dvd i don't know about the second or third season but love the show i already seen season one on dvd haven't seen ghostwriter since the show got cancelled in 1995 they just show reruns for 8 years! i remember watching this show when i was 8 in 1992 until i was 10 in 1995 better than the electric company remake!

  • Definitely one of my favorite episodes.

Too bad stuff like that doesn't happen in real life.

The greatness of television magic, huh? lol

  • i don't know what to say. It's been like forever I've seen this episode and i would never imagine that I'll re-watch it in 2010 on a computer. Thanks for posting it!

  • lol it's great that it was a mystery that the maid couldn't tell e man's shoe print from a child's. Ghost writer should bitchslap her!

  • That's what i call a SPECIAL episodes

  • Ha-cha-cha! This is probably my favorite case.

  • Best episode ever!!!!!!! El mejor episodio de ghostwriter

  • This episode was pretty spooky in a way. I really liked it.

  • I used to wanted to be on thiz show so bad. I even wrote my own scriptz for episodez. I was so upset when they cancelled it due to lack of funding. Why would those jerkz pull on a popular show like thiz? That was so stupid.

  • Im 25 and I watched each episode when it first aired Sunday evenings on PBS, i was about 7, I remember being tortured with each cliffhanger episode, waiting a week to find out whats going to happen. funny thing is i forgot who was the culprit for every one ep, so re-watching them it still feels fresh, and the show holds up really well. Probably one of the best live action kids shows ever made :)

  • Wibbly wobbly timey wimey.....

  • Would've been funny if Gaby had opened the diary and Ghostwriter didn't reappear.

  • this is soooo cool! i wish this happened in real life! this was the first episode i saw!! gives me goosebumps. the first and ONLY time i saw this episode was when i was 10 or something. (:

  • I just realized that if Ghostwriter came back through the diary, then he was in the EXACT SAME ROOM as a version of himself which was nearly 50 years younger.

Also, I was half expecting Catherine to have a heart attack.

  • shut ya face ya big windbag lol

    father??

  • I cried in this episode

  • I looked on wiki to see if there were any clues from the producers about who ghostwriter really was, but found 2 different answers.

"The producers' intent was to reveal Ghostwriter to be "a famous 15th- to 16th-century writer, but not Shakespeare"

"D.J. MacHale, who wrote series' pilot, stated: "If memory serves, Ghostwriter was supposed to be an ancestor of Jamal's, who was an escaped slave from the south who educated himself and learned the value of reading."

    =/

  • That's not Raynard Wilcox, that's Harold Lloyd!

  • Same with me and I'm 23 years old and I haven't seen the show in so long now I can actually own them on DVD when they are release on June 8th. I've been feeling nostalgic re-watching the episodes in a very long time.

  • @Zephyer5286

Glad I'm not the only one. I'm 19 and I used to watch this back in the late 90's (I was too young back in '93, haha) I feel so nostalgic when I watch this. I loved this show so much, and this story arc was definitely one of the best. I can see now that the kids' acting was horrible (lol!) but it's still a great show. I wished I could have had a friend like Ghostwriter. I can't believe they're finally being released on DVD. Now the next generation can see what good TV really is ;)

  • Since there have been questions about whether or not this show is on DVD, I just wanted to spread the word here, and say that the first season of Ghostwriter will be on DVD on June 8th. You can pre-order it on Amazon.

  • I guess it's sweet that Frank and Catherine get married but on the other hand, it's kinda icky since in a way they grew up as brother and sister.

  • 8:53 to 9:03; sweet and sad moments

  • Hey is it The black guy as the coal man on the show GW.Charles Mann used to be a Pro football player played outside Linebacker for the Washington Redskins.lol.

  • Idk why but when i watched this episode again when Catherine was down in the basement and looked out the window (actually that whole scene down in the basement) really got to me. It never has before but for some reason when i watched it the other day it just really got to me.

  • if frank and catherine were married..maybe jamal and lenni would of married too..since they were the fist to see ghostwriter

  • wow..im 29 now and watched this for the first time 15 yrs ago...i remember going out to the dollar store and buying a felt pen (ball point was not an option..lol) and using my mother's thread to tie it around my neck....this "case" was the first one i saw on tv and i was hooked on it...i wonder the identity of GW...

    im feeling nostalgic now..lol

thanks to the OP for putting up the best show ever!

catherine should have mentioned whatever happened to lucy since she helped frank

  • yeah me too and i'm 25 years old and i havent seen it since the last episode of "Slim Monster" Man sooooo many memories!!! Even my dad said that this show was good and told about this show in his graduate school in Colombia University that this show is a great example for kids to learn how to read and write :)

  • lol this ep. made me cry

  • Wonder what happened to Lucy.

  • @l3laze86 Maybe Frank raped her and got her pregnant before he married Catherine, LOL.

  • It's a good thing I'm not Frank, because if I was, I would have asked for a new foster family.

  • See, Gaby figured out how to bring the two timelines full circle. It just took her a while.

  • this has always been my favorite episode.

  • Frank certainly made one mean tackle. He could go out for the Cowboys.

  • How could Mrs. OBoyle think the coal footprint was from Frank when its much bigger than his foot?

  • cuz she hates frank and just looks for ways to hate him more =/

  • Yeah, sounds about right. At least Lucy would stop giving Frank crap though.

  • @JadeMasqerade I know, and a real funny scenario involving Mrs. O'Boyle would be if Frank's father showed up and raped "her" and got "her" pregnant, LOL.

  • great! best ghostwriter ever! i love it

  • IMO, this is the best Ghostwriter they made. It was very well-written!

  • I think that Ghostwriter is Frank's father. He might have died while he was away from his family, and that's why he stuck around. He helped his son and now he's helping the team. Frank said that he had more brothers and sisters so maybe that's why Ghostwriter was asking about the children the first time he talked to Jamal :)

  • okay am i the only one that is thinking gw is not frank or dr. callanen....how could it be frank if gw talked to frank and catherine, and catherine as an old lady remembers seeing gw with frank. catherine was with frank when she saw gw, so how is frank gw? also nightxangel makes a good point about him not knowing who elvis is, if it was frank, frank would know becasue he had only died one year earlier.

  • @lgirl716 Nobody ever said Frank was GW. GW is supposed to be a famous writer or Jamal's grandfather.

  • it's so cute that when lenni said that catherine and frank got married, tina and alex were looking at each other.

  • such.excellent.television.

  • what an amazing episode!

  • yeah the copies of gw dvds around are just that, copies of the vhs or recorded from tv. its not the same as original dvd set or bluray possibly digitally remasted and with extras, commentaries etc..

  • That was some mean tackle Frank did on the crook. He should've gone out for Green Bay.

  • Pack Attack!!

  • It's funny to see how most of the other GW episodes are so cheesy (when looking back at them). However this episode is actually solid enough to hold it's own. This was and still is my favourite episode of GW.

  • yeah, but cheezy or not, I loved them all, in fact it was BECAUSE it was so cheezy that I loved it, it was off beat...I mean if they showed real gang wars and street muggings and school bullying all we'd have is another sterotyed "urban drama." that flooded america in the early 1990's.

  • This was my favorite episode. It took me a while to figure out that Frank is ghostwriter.

  • Wow I never got that thanks man.

  • That's not necessarily true. However, there is definitely evidence that supports the argument.

  • Good theory, but frank wasn't ghostwriter. this episode states that frank died in 1992. when rob first joined the team and asked ghostwriter who elvis was, he replied "who's elvis?" Since he didn't know who elvis was, it meant that he died before elvis was even around. ghostwriter had been dead for a long time before he found the team.

  • Gaby seems to be the one who loves Ghostwriter the most

  • so is the irish chick the mom or the nanny? Cause they kept saying "stole mother's tea set" and then i heard "the nanny" so, who is she?!

  • She's the housekeeper. It was the mother's tea set but she died.

  • something i always wondered that didn't make since,if gw had to go back in time to help frank not get in trouble, doesn't that mean since the past already happend frank did get in trouble and didn't grow up to become the doctor which means no mr. jenkins after the age 4 which means no jamal?lol

  • No becuase the future hadnt happend yet. If at the moment in space time when the GW team sent the info to the past for catherine and frank they decided not to send the info back well then there wouldve been a destablizing effect and that would have led to no jamal etc cuz frank wouldnve been a doctor. This is an example of the future creating the past; kind of like in star trek first contact.

  • sorta like how his dad was getting sick but then got better cause of the case being solved

  • Just now got to read through everyones post and see someone mentioning about Franks death. First what was date that this show or first time Jamal found out about Ghostwriter? Cuz now after seeing everyones choice I still think it could have been Frank unless his death was right after Jamal meet Ghostwriter. Then like others picked Mr. C is another great idea. Read in one of this shows forums how they were leaking out about GW towards end but then show got cancelled.

  • Past finally meets future...that was the best part of the episode...that and the ending in Jamal's basement.

  • OMG. if the newspaper article was in the wall the WHOLE time, dont you think GW would have just read IT?!?! Wow, GW... get your act together hahah!

  • I always assumed Frank turned out to be Ghostwriter. Did anyone else think that?

  • Can't say who...but there is something about GW and books...that's how he origianilly came to be (Ghost Story)...a book fell off a shelf and boom, there he was...now he returns from the future through a book.

  • is Louis Todaro the kid playin Frank is the dj lous todaro now on days?? if so... that's crazy!! and he's so hot now lol

  • wow this was a really good story!!!! i was at the edge of my chair!!!

  • best story ever!!

  • awesome ass episode..

  • why doesn't the maid apologize to frank? she was the nastiest to him!

  • Franks and Catherine's post Ghostwriter lives seem pretty interesting. They got married, Frank became a heart surgeon who operated on poor kids, Catherine wrote detective stories. I wish we saw more of that, even though it's not what the show is about. Now I'm getting fanfic ideas!

  • That chair the librarian is in looks uncomfortable. I would want a more cushioned one.

  • that was sweet and sad...cathrine misses frank.

  • are these shows on dvd?

  • I think so. The torrent on TTKOTV said that he got a DVD copy from a friend

  • they've never been released to the public in dvd form. i've contacted the show's project manager. she informed me... only vhs

  • some people have said they got in DVD, such as the person who put the torrent on TTOKTV. I don't know how.

  • Well, key phrase is "to the public". i've seen some ppl say they have the dvds, but they're not available "for the public"

  • the only copies that are on DVD are illegal. Because it is more important to have episode of Spongebob where he goes around annoying everyone oh wait that is every episode. And seriously there is no reason this isn't legally on DVD

  • I knew there was something strange about that lady...

One of the best episodes so far imo.

  • I love the part where Frank catches the bad guy. He got owned!

  • What a great episode one of the best ones of the series. What a touching ending that's how you live happily ever after. I have to admit that watching this episode was very emotional I'm 27 and I feel 12 again!!! This was great writing for a show mostly aimed at a younger audience.

  • I can't believe Gabby is supposed to be only nine.

  • Ten I think, since she started going to Hurston in season 3.

  • Um, Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character.

  • I think you replied to the wrong post. I didn't say anything about Sherlock Holmes.

  • Yeah I meant to reply to waterlilyqueen, dunno how I missed the names. My bad

  • Um, so is Ghostwriter. And the Ghostwriter team. Who says they don't live in the same fictional world?

  • Ghostwriter can't be Frank because "Frank died May 1st of last year" and this is season 2. I have a feeling they would have revealed his identity if they had been able to make more shows, so it's probably nobody we've seen... but old Dr. Canellan does fit really well.

BTW I wonder if Samuel L Jackson became too famous to keep appearing on a children's show, lol.

  • Yea, May 1st 1992, and it's close. Though how would he get into the book that Jamal knocked over?

  • Whose Frank again?

  • Far as Mr. Jackson I doubt he became too famous but during the first season they didn't want to put too much focus on just certain adults. But mixed it up ~ Such as we got to see the other kids families but not within alot of episodes. But sure once they needed to bring in the fathers character he probably had something else going or didn't reside near that area to jump on board fast enough. So instead of going with another character they just replaced him with another actor.

  • she's shouting again in the library!! =P

  • There was no one else there except the librarian, and considering Catherine does research there, I think an exception could be made.

  • My idea:

Frank sent to orphanage: Mr. Canellan died when Catherine was in her 20's. Catherine, unmarried with little income, common for women then, had to sell the house. She never became an author (lack of funds). She lived a miserable life without Frank.

Frank wasn't sent to orphanage: supported by Mr. Canellan, he finished most of college before his dad died, married Catherine and supported her as a doctor. With this income, she became an author and they moved into a more expensive house.

  • More thoughts:

It could be Mr. Canellan's book that was found in the basement. Maybe when he died, that book was left in the basement.

The fact that Ghostwriter considers Jamal's house his home could be because he owned at one time.

Also, its weird to me it isn't mentioned what happens to Mr. Canellan after 1928. Its like they (script writers) are hiding something. Maybe Mr Canellan died suddenly, but the script writers don't want us to know that because it could be an important clue.

  • What about Mr. Canellan? He could be Ghostwriter. Think about it, he said, "Where are the children? Are they alright?" Ghostwriter could be talking about his children. He shows great concern for children; he took in a boy who robbed him. Maybe he died suddenly and was concerned about his children, especially if their mother isn't around.

Frank would be in the orphanage if Ghostwriter didn't step in. Maybe after he died he wanted to undo his mistake of sending Frank to the orphanage.

  • that makes sense! i could see how that could be tied to the story. GREAT deduction! =) You must be a detective! lol!

  • The person who new that frank wanted to be a Doctor is Mr. Canellan.

    I think he is Ghostwriter

    Agree with you

  • Interesting theory xBlackRomancex

  • omg that's an excellent theory! i haven't paid attention, but do they speak in similar ways? i think they might. whenever he talks to katheryn about sending frank away, he always sounds sort of sorrowfull but logical and smart. like ghostwriter. hmmm...

  • I don't think Frank is Ghostwriter. When he writes, it doesn't sound like Frank, like he doesn't use the word, "Hachachacha" Not only that, also why would Frank go back and help himself? That seems weird. He would have been in the orphanage and lost all faith. With all hope gone, he wouldn't be able to go back and change the past.

  • "Children, please remember this is a library." (at :59) lol

  • I remember the comment about the dogs. I just rcently thought of something. What if Ghostwriter was Sherlock Holmes? Think about it. Ghostwriter loves mysteries and the whole dog thing sounds familiar. (I didn't read Sherlock Holmes though so I could be wrong)Plus he's the one famous detective that they always mention.

    Just an idea!

  • Good theory though I can't see Sherlock Holmes being that concerned about children (unless there's something I don't know about him)

  • Yeah but another hint was that ghostwritter rememberd being chased by dogs. I forgot what episode that was on but unless frank had been chased by dogs, then he could be ghostwritter.

  • It was in A Crime of Two Cities that he remembers the dogs. And no, unfortunately Ghostwriter can't be Frank.

  • I didn't know lemonade was a treat in 1928 lol!

  • iamghostwriter2, you are the man!!!!! LOL!!! Thank you thank you thank you so much for putting my favorite episode up! :)

  • I love this episode!! Thanks for posting!

  • Thank you! this is my favourite episode for sure

  • "Shut your face, you big windbag" That was good.

  • i forgot about that quote and though i am 25 now its stilla good one to laugh :)

  • I recall in the very fist eposide of Ghostwriter, that Ghostwriter fell out of a book sitting on a shelf when Jamal helped his father pull out a trunk. Could that be Frank's diary?

  • @davinp but the diary is behind the brick.

  • Have you ever heard of the Ghostwriter Team all grown up?

  • I thought the writers were going to do a show on his identity, but it went off before they could do it?? Maybe that book had something else to do with Frank - like a medical book or something. Ironic that they had to leave us with this mystery! (And yes, we are all Ghostwriter Geeks! lol)

  • Actually, there's an episode that GW identity is going to be showed but when they are going to reveal the face it fades out (it was like a dream or something, I think it was on the Galaxy Girl episode)

  • no the book fell off the trunk but that could have been franks' just bad consitencey(sp) cuz then how would the story start if jamal never new the hidding place was there. as for the conrflakes good question, i would have to plead the memory loss card lol

  • the max mouse episode PLEASE!!!

  • Just to add to your "rrrewind" - Ghostwiter first wrote to Jamal: "HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! Where are the children? Are they all right?" He could be referring to the children from the hospital that he (Frank) worked at. Interesting to think about - too bad the show got cancelled.

  • yea i thought that too but didnt write it down cuz it would have looked like a book haha but thanx

  • how come he didn't know what corn flakes were??

  • Good question, but he did have memory loss. Not 100% convinced, but the evidence is pretty strong that it's Frank. ECKO, any thoughts? I wonder exactly what book it was that GW came out of.

  • it was frank's diary.

  • I don't think it was frank's diary...The diary was hidden in Frank's secret place inside the wall. The book that Ghostwriter came out of fell of Jamal's Great Grandfather's trunk. Plus the book that Ghostwriter came out of was a typed book.

Oh wow...Ghostwriter geek or what!! haha

  • ghostwriter was probably frank because after they sent the final message he disappeared which i thought was weird at first, but then after i heard that ghostwriter didn't reply then i figured it out.

  • Yeah the first book GW came out of was a book all typed up. A really old book just like the one Lucy was reading when they told her they caught the thief. But to travel back and forth through time he used Frank's diary which makes me think more that GW is Frank. Plus showing up out of a really old book in Jamal's/Frank's basement?

  • I think that we would have found out for sure.. who exactly he was, had the show been on longer, and gone with the plot longer...

  • Thanks, that brought back so many memories. :D

  • nice theory...thanks..

Do you have the Max Mouse series?

  • What ep. are you going to upload next? Thanks again for posting!

  • U Know that really makes sense

    Frank being ghostwriter

  • how??

  • how what?

  • Awesome. Thank you so much. This brings back a flood of memories from my childhood. Amazing show.

  • anyone figure out that FRANK is GHOSTWRITER yet..lol sorry to spoil it for ya i used to watch these when i was a kid...first post

  • haha...yeah, I mentioned something when I watched the first part, but then I wasn't sure because I thought he was still alive, but now, I'm back the that theory haha
