  • You can cook the fish body and the head of the fish would still be alive. Fish don't really feel pain and they live really strongly. Unlike us. We are weak and a little pinch makes us yelp in pain. You can bash a fishes body in and it wouldn't make a sound. In fact I've seen people eat raw fish and only the head was left but the fish was still alive. So fishes can't really die until you squash the head.

  • Fish: WTF happened

  • Awwwww!! I'm glad that fish is better! Why did it need to have surgery for?

  • WoW !! what a waste of EVERYTHING !! A mother fucking fish? Fry that shit up. surgery? You fucking retarded cunts.

  • how much the fish paid? o.o

  • Fantastic to see a team of people working so hard to alleviate the misery of a fish that is so small, I could eat the whole thing and be hungry again in a couple of hours. I'm glad she got better. It seems like the Vancouver Aquarium is a good place to work if you are a human who empathizes with any animal.

  • I always thougth that surgery would be done by vets with their googles and gas cylinders in scuba!

  • looks like a stone fish

  • How the hell did I get here? What the hell is this?!

  • The fuck iam watching?

  • Fabulous! Learn something new every day!

  • Marty, you're a genius!! Very cool - nice going on that pretty little Red Irish Lord!

  • Not too many ppl with skills like this! Bravo!

  • It seems kind of odd to operate on a fish, but great job for sending a loud and clear message.

  • I love you guys! I am against animal cruelty, and you save any animal! :D

  • ME too, Agaragarlove.

  • awe! i luv the aquarium! u guys care so much!

  • wow i didnt even know that was possible

  • its a win-win situation i guess, they will either preserve the fish orrrrrrr if it dies, it will provide the staff with free sushi.

  • so did they eggs inside her die or were they releases too?

  • It's amazing how much the Aquarium cares for all of their animals. Such great people...

  • What is Egg Binding?

  • Egg binding is when a female fish becomes filled with eggs and is unable to release them. Also referred to as egg bound.

  • That is just incredible.

  • That is so cool!

  • AirsofterCanada gooddddddddd comment!! hahaha

  • YAY I LOVE FISH!

  • if it was surgery on az stonefish, the surgeons would be the ones needing anastetic!!

  • Wow that fish must mean a lot to the Vancouver Aquarium some people just let it die but the staff has such great hearts!

  • Thanks for saving that poor fish! :)

  • awesome, that was one of the best things i saw

  • yay

  • wow i didnt know they did surgery on a fish!

  • It's really good to know that some people are so committed to their animals. Some people would just not really care about a fish. Keep up the awesome work! :)

  • Egg binding is horrible. Just about every female bird can will die from it, reptiles, and now fish? How did you know the fish was egg bound? and how would a fish die from it, fish eggs are soft, wouldn't all of them come out?

I think it's awesome you took the time to save that fish, because simply letting it die and getting another one would just make the VAquarium look like you don't care about animals...but you do! Great job!

  • Amazing job. I love marine life.

  • I want to work at the Vancouver Aquarium as a vet. ;)

  • Like it!

  • my feesh is seeck

  • seriously easy goin!

  • O My ... this is simply UNBELIEVABLE!

    Way to go guys!

  • cool!

  • Interesting...

  • =.= What was the water thing that went into the fishes mouth???

  • A water tube. Fish use their gills to remove oxygen from the water, but their gills would be impossible to use on land. Without the water tube, oxygen wouldn't be able to reach the gills and the fish would die. The water tube helps the fish breathe, and it ensures that the surgery can take place without the medical staff having to stop and put the fish back in the water midway through a surgery.

Neat trick by the way, VanAqua.

  • aww sad! im sooooooooo super glad its fine now! u guys are life savers! luv u guys!

  • This is Awesome you guys!!

  • WOW!!!!

  • I love you guys.

  • I didn't even know there was such a thing as surgery for a fish. I am a fish keeper and enthusiast myself. I do buy medicines for mine and try to keep them alive. I give my fish the best life I can. I just never knew such a thing like this existed. :) Nice to learn this, though I don't think any vet doctors in my area would specialize in fish.

  • @Timothy2035 my dog just died from heart worms even surgery wouldnt do anything to her nothing would of kept her from dying exept god the one who gave life to everything to this world even humans

  • Wow, that was really interesting!

I never knew fishes could get surgeries.

  • Its cool how they take care of there animals and not just get a new one. Vancouver Aquarium (in my opinion) takes care of there animals the best!!!

  • I would really love to work there. Fish are my life. I love Them.

  • amazing
