I'd imagine a fair few people will vote socialist in the next general election. Last year I knew nothing about, nor did I care much about politics. Time to make a move and I think socialist party are the only ones with enough cop on to try and make a difference.

Everyone can't be a pragmatist. The greatest advances in politics and the betterment of the human population have always been made by idealists. "Those who are in a position to do something about it" (I assume you are referring to fine Gael/ labour) as you call them are fundamentally the same as Fianna Fail.

I'm from Lucan, voted Joe #1 in May 07 for my constituency, Dublin West. Thanks to the redrawing of the electoral boundaries in the intervening years since the previous election in 2002, this constituency became the most disenfranchised in the entire country, with more people-per-TD than any other constituency.

What's the signifcance of this?

Logically, Dublin West should have had an extra TD - 4 instead of 3. Joe came 4th in 07.
