  • love watching weightlifters (not powerlifters) do deadlift: push through with hips to finish instead of straightening out legs and then pulling with the back. great lift!

  • Almost got the second rep too. Beast!

  • how much does he weight

  • Well done on the lift nice form indeed. Although i dont like straps. But non the less bloody awesome lift.

  • It dawned on me this is a clean style dead lift, makes me wonder what he could really pull if he started with his hips lower...insane for his weight.

  • witchout belt?

  • Where is ur hair ??? Dont cut it ! :)

  • Super strong!! You can beat gear lifters!

  • Nice single regardless. It's a good deadlift at your bw. Well done.

  • thats 3 1/3 bodyweight, impressive.

  • damn! awesome lift man

  • i read it somewhere elite level lifters hv 150% dead lift of their clean

  • that's crazy with weight lifting shoes!

  • wow empire505 thats about 620 lbs, your an idiot

  • thats more than 3 times his body weight and without a belt, damn. kill it over in beijing and get us a medal in weightlifting

  • if more of our lifters trained like this we would have more great lifters

  • Great job! I wish I had your back strength.

  • You're an idiot...

  • @empire0505 405 @ 140 isn't as impressive as 620 @ 185

  • any squat videos of him?

  • Very strong, good job man, that is a nice deadlift especially because you keep that back just like your doing a clean and jerk :]

  • also he is not using a belt which makes it more impressive still

  • Exactly, flat back with weightlifting shoes and no belt--very impressive. This is really a clean pull as opposed to a deadlift, I bet he could deadlift another 20 kg.

  • What's the difference on a clean pull versus a deadlift I've tried searching and can never seem to figure out the difference, is it the position of shoulders relative to the bar? Or the torso angle?

  • in the pull you use your traps and calves at the end of the motion just like if you were actually cleaning or snatching, in the dead your just pulling till your standing straight.

  • A clean pull mimics the first phase of the clean, so the back is arched and the scapula are partially retracted and the shoulders are over the bar. This puts one in a better position for the second pull of a clean, but makes it harder to break a heavy weight off the floor. In a deadlift, you can round your thoracic spine and relax your shoulders, which creates the effect of "lengthening" your arms and giving you better leverages for moving weight those first few inches off the floor.

  • Thank you sir, very helpful description of the difference. I'm still a novice so I'm not sure how much I have to apply it myself but I totally see it watching elite lifters in vids.

  • The back, foot and hand positioning looks like a clean pull, but this is a deadlift. There's no explosion on the second pull and this is more than 80kg more than his max clean. It's a clean grip deadlift.
