1. I suspect that Home & Away is actually a soap opera, and not intended to depict real life, rather a stylization of it.

2. The people who make it are clever, witty, and certainly gloriously light-hearted. It's made in Australia by Australian people.

3. Home & Away is churned out very quickly; I bet those involved love doing it, and including celebrity fans, in character, didn't faze them a bit. They reworked an already-written scene to include them.

lol, I always laugh at people's reaction to neighbours, especially if they are not from Australia and haven't grown up with it. I think all soap TV is crap, it's written to be trash which is half the fun. you have to watch it long enough to get used to it and then you start to like it. But I must admit, I can't put myself through an episode of East Enders, I have tried but I just find it so out dated...any aussies here remember a country practice? It reminds me of that era.
