as long as my ears are working i will be listening to Al Jarreau! I have lost my voice thousands of times in my life trying to sing along with him, and I enjoy it every time I try!
@JustMyNipples That's one of the great things about Europe, especially Germany. Art Tatum for example was so impressed by the attention the european audiences paid him, that back in America he started playing in smaller clubs and those known for having quiet audiences.
This is what I am talking about....I was listening to this when I was 10 years old...and loving it too...compare that to what the our young children are listening to today at 10...now remember during this era...we also was listening to Stevie, Marvin the sound of Phila...etc... and hip hop was on its way in...All of this made me expand my mind and my horizons....Thanks for the post
This here is awesome. Love the soft groove of this song, and love how he is imitating the guitar at the beginning. And, loving that Fender, sounds awesome! This whole performance is awesome:)
This is the Al Jarreau I first came to know. I was about 4 years old when Pops came home with "Look to the Rainbow". That album is STILL the gold standard for him as far as I'm concerned. Seeing performances from that era is GOLDEDN. I always wondered what it was like. This is AWESOME! Yeah, his 80s work paid the work, but THIS is the stuff that I can still listen to all these years later.
Bought this album back in the 70's and nearly wore it out - a complete revelation, what I would have given then to see these live performances - absolutely fabulous. As with all great performers live better than recordings. Big Big thanks for posting, you've made my day!
This was the opening track off the incredible "Look to the Rainbow", what a fabulous track. Outstanding backing musicans too. They just don't make 'em like this anymore. Thanks for the upload!
Very talented people like Al Jarreau are courted by the powers that be, because music is very hypnotic.
It sways, it imprints. That is why he apologized to us because he went to the dark side........MONEY.
Soon the nice house was not good enuf, it had to be a bigger house. But there is a price to pay...trust me I know how many musicians pay it. It is everlasting.
Everything he did after the 70s was commercial shit. He ever apologized to us at the Greek Theater in Berkeley saying "Im sorry I had to pay the bills"
Outstanding. Whi is it that these 70's songs sound so much more catchy and authentic? I guess it's cause these artists at the time didn't yet have access to synths and drum computers to mess it up real bad.
Hello,
I need to know if you know a place to buy this concert in DVD… so beautiful !!
