  • How common is it for a Roo to have two in one birthing? Has it ever happened?

  • @Wolfgirl2help Twins are fairly uncommon in Western Grey kangaroos but yes we have had twins. Normally just one born though.

  • how long does it take to be born?

  • @najlu92 It took 8 minutes for Tingle to reach the safety of the pouch.

  • this truly is facinating, i could just watch it all day hehe... really jealous of you :D and wish to congratulate you on your work :)

  • @najlu92 Thanks for your kind comment. Makes all our work worthwhile to know people enjoy seeing this.

  • @RooGully and i would really like to be there and help, but unfortunatley its impossible for me

  • @najlu92 Maybe one day eh!!

  • So if the baby falls off in the wild, that would be the end of it? Or can the mother occasionally pick it up again?

  • @yawenalice No, the mother cannot pick it up..........so it would die sadly.

  • I like it

  • Awh poor little Katie she was bleeding :(

  • Marvelous to see—thank you! Really interesting that the roo decided to come into the house to give birth. Are you especially close? Did you rear the mother from an early age?

  • @ScisMacGillicutty Thanks. We raised Katie from a young joey and had her trust. And she was very young to become a mother so came home for some support.

  • OMG it's smaller then the moms hand that baby is gonna get lost very easily

  • I love how u say "Teet" ^__^

    Joeys are soo mini

  • somones gunna have carpet stains.....

  • WOW - Absolutely fascinating - this alternative method of mammalian birth - so different but just as highly evolved (and risky for the fetus) as placental birth. Marsupial reproduction is not 'primitive' - they just took a different evolutionary path.

  • @sunsdomain Indeed; I read somewhere that marsupials evolved the way they did because the ureters were closer together, causing two seperate uteruses to form around the ureters as opposed to the ureters forming around a single uterus. The birth canals in marsupials are so narrow that they have to expel their young early on while they're still small, then let them grow more outside of the pouch.

  • OMG it's sooo tiny!

  • really interesting!

  • That is the most horrible thing I have ever watched in my entire life

  • the babys are so tiny

  • I won't lie, that was extremely gross, but just as amazing. Weird double reaction, but the fact that their instincts let them just KNOW exactly what to do is unbelievably amazing.

  • ew, stop making it a 'beatufiul moment.' It's gross. Get over yourself.

  • That is both gross and fascinating. Thank you for uploading.

  • Im stunned. This is amazing :)

  • Awh, joey's are sooooo cute! <3

  • KANGAROOS HAVE IT EASY FOR GIVING BIRTH! its tiny!

  • @WeThePeopleRleaders Its not the pain from the size of the birth, she would still be having painful labour pains.

  • wow this was something very intersting i agree with "rajramesh1980"

  • Nothing like kangaroo stories to keep me company while I'm packing for my move. : )

  • wow, salute to the woman hood

  • I dont understand how people can censor something that is supposed to be natural. some people make it seem that this is the grossest thing but it really is a miracle.

  • Haven't seen this anywhere else until now. Thank you so much for making it available here. I'm currently writing a novel about a young Eastern Grey and watching this (and the rest) is INVALUABLE for me.

  • So pleased the whole series of clips is helping you. Was a very special journey for us - as you can imagine. Good luck with your novel. These roos need all the help they can get.

  • wow- amazing but- WOW

  • how do they know were to go

  • It is instinctive, and also because just before the birth the mother licks a trail all the way to the pouch. Her saliva leaves a scent trail the joey follows. Nature is so fascinating.

  • haaaa... my name is katie and my sisters is joey :P

  • tht is ssooooooooo small! and cute

  • OMG thats so very Shockingggggggg

  • they r smaller than its eye ball

  • thats sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo small

  • wow

  • i wonder if that hurts her with them being so small but they r coming out her cooch

  • Wow I never knew that they were so tiny

  • No, no, not on the carpet!

  • it´s a wonder of the Nature, this little joey climp in the pouch,i read from them, now i have see the first Kangaroo birth of my life. it´s veery interesting and very nice. i lost my words...

  • dido

  • that is puny,i can;t spell.but it's so cute

  • I call my infant daughter the joey because she's always at the breast and because

I carry her in a pouch (Baby Bjorn).

Whoever said kangaroos don't suffer labour pain must have been a man!

  • Wow, that is so interesting! Had no idea that little joey has to climb its way up into the pouch. hahah, kinda cute and funny

  • The Joey is SO small! How could they have labor pains?

  • Discomfort or pain during the labour of any species are caused by uterine contractions and are therefore not governed by the size of the baby, so even though a kangaroo joey is very small at birth the uterus must still expel it by contracting.

  • Do they suffer labor pains as much as humans do?

  • Probably not as severe as humans, but it is difficult to tell how much a prey animal feels because it has to mask pain so as not to become a target for predators.

Kangaroos seem to have a quicker labour than humans.

  • wow

  • how the hell does a little guy like that know where to go?????

  • they smell it

  • "Safely attatched to her teet"

  • ¡fantástico! Es una suerte poder ver este video, es impresionante.

  • Absolutley wonderful. I am crying. Thank you so much, Lynne in Georgia, U.S.A.
