the all seeing eye is just that, he has the ability to see far not due to his eye but do to one of the special orbs (sorry i forgot how to spell palantir unless thats spelled right ;), all magic is limited, and in his own domain he *sees all* (and note this doenst mean you cant trick him, even the gods were tricked by sauron himself)

pamsp is right thank you!! the original 9,, frodo sam pipin merry boromir aragorn, legolas gimli and gandalf should of rode eagles to GONDOR!! at which time walked with a small elite army of about 50 other men through shelobs lair sticking together. then all of gondors army shud of gone to the black gate to draw out the army so frodo and the elite men could of destroyed the ring. this took me 2 minutes to think of y r ppl so stupid!

The eagles arnt some kind of pet they are a proud race. They are friends of gandalf though because he saved their king. It would be like going up to the dwarfs and saving "hey carry us to mount doom please".

the reason why eagle idea would fail because

1) dudes you just saw a big flaming eye, sauron would spot them from afar

2) *you saying what if he see them* well in movie you saw nazgul fighting eagles, and now think, did eagles come because nazgul came or did nazgul come because sauron saw eagles... and sauron had quite many fel beasts in arsenal, simply he sent only those with nazguls on them.

Way to defeat Sauron is to break the tower? Well, that's load easier! Just march the half of Middle-Earth, break down the Black Gate, beat down the all the hundred-thousands of Orcs, hundreds of Trolls, burn Nazguls and break the tower. Not that harder. Oh yea, Mumakils, Uruk-hais and southern people are kinda bad to run into, too. Not even talking about Pirates of Black Ships.
