  • its a training video, you would find out (how unrealistic bullshit) it is if you kicked off in a night club where terry is on the door. yes even at his age, the man is still on the doors. Terry Oneil a true fighing legend.oss

  • this is unrealistic shit

  • why is his gedan barai at tudan when it should be at gedan. >.<

  • @rtyush

At what part of the video clip are you talking about.

  • @rtyush Hi Rytush

Sorry I have gone over and over and I just cant see anything wrong with it.

Terry Oneil is a big huge man in build and height so maybe its just his stature that gives you the impression the Gedan Barai is to high.

Even if it is from a high position I can imagine you could go from that position to do a gedan barai or to uchi Uke if nessercery.Im not as excactly going to question it with him seeing he towers over me like a monster lol.

  • @rtyush some people do it a fist width above the leg, some people do it parallel to the leg, but its never chudan!

  • @rtyush Maybe it's a chudan barai? Nothing wrong with that. Chudan barai is more useful anyway.

  • Everyone keeps trying to compare martial arts. It is not the art that wins in the ring or the streets, it is the fighter. Also, if the teacher is bogus, crap, has never been in a fight ( ring or street), you could actually be in the perfect art and still be some boo boo. If you teacher does not no how to translate the art, no matter what it is, it will not work. So stop with this art versus art, no one will win.

  • terry o'neill is the only dude who knew how to fight on the street..and it's not because of his "shotokan" ..just read the book "working with warriors".

  • @ghettoaga Terry O'Neil will be the first to tell you that Shotokan karate works, along with guys like Frank Brennan and Elwyin Hall. They will also tell you about how badasses were their Japanese instructors. But I'm kind of intrigued about your Wing Tsun argument, since you're using it as an example for effective MA...but I guess you'd come back with the "Bruce Lee" card and that would be lame.

  • @deadguy29 bruce lee did wing chun but not for long..WT and WC is not the same..the leung ting wt system is much more effective...I talked to a shotokan practitioner a few weeks ago who use to do shotokan..then he switched to WT..he said is much more effective for the street..WT teaches you to punch and block at the same time..there is also no time waste with kata and all the other stuff..Wt is not about high kicks and board breaking it's about real life self defense applications.

  • @ghettoaga You keep saying that such and such system are more effective than Shotokan, but I have yet to see a WT practitioner as an MMA champion (I'm just following with your previous argument). Also, you are misguided if you think that Shotokan is only about high kicks and board breaking (hell, I've been training for quite a while and I've never done any board breaking).

  • @ghettoaga I like many things about Shotokan but I know it has some limitations, so what? there's no complete style and I'd rather do Shotokan right than start mixing stuff without proper understanding. That been said, I also like boxing a lot and I've found that my karate training has benefited from it. If you like WT or MT more power to you, but do some research or better yet, go train with someone serious before criticizing other styles.

  • a good wing tsun guy would beat any shotokan practitioner..this style is a joke..why not do the real thing such as wing tsun or muay thai.

  • @ghettoaga You are a fool.

  • @blackbeltste You should put ur pride to side and do a little research ...wing tsun blocks and strikes at the same time..karate is a waste of time ..why not do muay thai instead at least u will get proper sparring.

  • @ghettoaga Why not presume to know who I am and what I do.

Again, You are a fool. Listen to your own advice, and put your pride aside.

  • @ghettoaga: it's obvious you're trolling since you're using wing tsun and muay thai in the same sentence as the real thing...now go somewhere else with your trolling.

  • @deadguy29 how am i trolling? This stuff will not work in a real life situation that's all I'm saying..if it was that good then geoff thompson wouldn't of put his kid into judo and boxing..we've also seen how effective this is when lyoto machida got his ass kicked by shogun (twice). If you think this white pyjama martial art will benefit you then ur more than welcome to do it..but God forbid u ever get into a real fight..this stuff would work against u.

  • @ghettoaga mmmm you're using the mma argument...well, by your own logic, if Machida got beaten by Shogun and therefore Shotokan is useless, then wrestiling, BJJ, MT are also useless since Machida defeated fighters who where experts in such styles. See? it doesn't work that way...So you're still trolling and failing to come up with an actual argument about the effectiveness of Shotokan techniques.

  • @deadguy29 there is no proof that it's effective that's all I'm saying..machida fought a few shot fighters when he finally stepped in to fight a veteran like shogun he got smashed simple as that.Goeff Thompson didn't leave shotokan for no reason ..he knew that the style wasn't effective. Explain why you think that shotokan is better than muay thai? More and more shotokan people switch to wing tsun too..i wonder why lol

  • @ghettoaga aaaaah come on! now you're using the "that Y figther was no good when he fought X fighter" argument. I hate when people start using MMA as an example for everything related to Martial Arts. But, I'll answer anyway: first, Machida defeated several high ranked fighters including Evans, Franklyn, Silva, etc. in their primes. By your own logic, Shogun would be a shot fighter since he lost to Griffin who lost to Evans who lost to Machida. Then again, it doesn't work that way...

  • good exemble kion ippon koemite .thanks. oss. bow.
