ok let me explain something to those of us that are a bit confused about the zelda timeline, at the end of ocarina of time, link goes back in time and you can see Navi leaving him, in majoras mask, it says that link was searching for a lost friend, AKA navi, this means that the events of mm happened after those of the child part of oot, and they took part in a place other than hyrule to avoid the story clashing with the fact that ganon is taking over,
I do really enjoy the idea of this, and you are right in some sense, that Termina is connected to Hyrule, but only through that forest, it is in fact an alternate dimension, hence why the OoT characters are there, just with different names, and maybe personalities.

The MM moon was not a natural body. The Mask, Majora's Mask, was probably hundreds or thousands of years old, so it may have created that artificial moon to destroy Termina, but its plan was foiled by a previous hero, and the people of Termina just believe that moon is natural because it was all they had.

Sorry but you have too little proof to back up your theory. Nintendo has confirmed that Majora's Mask takes place in the Child timeline and Termina IS an alternate world to Hyrule. The thing about the owl saying the land was doomed anyway is explained in another theory with lots of evidence to back it up. Its linked to Stone Tower temple. Google it.

At the end of oot zelda made you young link again... now if we carry young link from oot to majors mask... again you child timeline kinda gives off the mask sales man dies. So if that happend oot young link would be dead from majors mask so that would conflict with your adult timeline seeing that there wouldent be... instead you would have a link 100 years into the future when majors mask takes place. The reason I say that in my other post is because you could "Fail" in majors mask and the moon would crash. Now your comparing Ocarina of time to Majors mask. I think in my own way and that you are wrong. Seeing OOT when you first become adult link the light sage (I forgot his name) says "7" years have passed... those 7 years link was frozen in the temple of time because he was to young to draw the master sword. I think the happy salesman had a big thing to do with it, maybe a special person or so. It was probably after majoras mask because he probably wanted to rest now. His part was done, and he no longer had to stay in the clock tower.
I also believe that majoras mask is a REAL piece, and there was probably a way to get there through the lost woods in Oot, but was never found. (Obviously not in the game or anything, just saying there was a path.)
I believe that the Mask Salesman appeared in the Adult-Timeline of Oot simply because of this: He disappears mysteriously at the end of MM. MM starts off a while after Link pulls out the Master Sword in Oot, and is sleeping for seven years. When Zelda sent Link back in time, there were now TWO young Links, but the original one pulled the Master Sword and became the new one. Then he left for Termina, where the Happy Mask Salesman appeared. When the Adult Timeline started, the Salesman returned.
My only issue with this group of theories is the low amount of credit it gives to the Happy Mask Salesman. I always go the feeling HMS knew EXACTLY what was going on. It's why, if link didn't get his mask back, he was getting the hell out of Termina in three days and he spent all his time chillin by the tunnel out.

Tatl and Tael were just off on their own, flying around Termina like bored faeries do when it started raining. They took shelter under a log where they saw a Skull kid who was soaked and freezing and they all huddled for warmth and after that made friends etc. etc.

As the Deku Tree give fairies to young kokiri I think that Tatl and Tael would be some "rebel" or some escaped-orphan fairies as they don't obey the "rule" of being given to a kokiri. Or maybe they're simply too young to be given to some kokiri so they don't give a damn about going with Skull Kid.

Second, Majora's Mask is arguably one of the easiest Zelda games. The first time I played it (without a walkthrough, and it wasn't even my game that I could play whenever I wanted to) took me about a month. The second time took me six days. Now I can beat it in a day. ;P
Termina is a different demension. READ THE MANGA OR HYRULE HYSTORIA! If the moon crashed into termina, nothing would happen to hyrule. links just a nice guy, so he saved them anyway. the rest is right though

Great theory, I understand that you put this out long before the official timeline but I think it could only happen in the child timeline. The happy mask salesman opened his shop in Hyrule first and then moved out into Termina because not many people actually went to his shop in Hyrule, that is why you had to do the side quest and hand all the masks out. So therefore i believe it was destroyed after he had his shop in Hyrule. Great theories though
the answer is very simple.these games have different timelines which sometimes are hyndreds of years apart.in twilight princess link is an adlt in a village with humans which is either an alternative universe or a prequel,in ocarina of time he lives with elves but it is said that he descends from a family of knights,wind waker happens centuries later(i don't remember hyrule flooded :P), majora's mask happensafter OOT.After all it does not matter.the games are FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!
I think the Alternate world was all set up by Majora. It all turns back to the Fierce Deity mask, and how the battle again Majora and him ended with Majora defeated. Majora then finally found a host where he set off to find a possible host for the Fierce Deity so they can once again gain power and fight once more. He plunges Link into another world, where he must fight to win acceptance to be worthy of the fierce deity. IT all goes back to Majora.

I found a working timeline, and they had this game in the Child Era. It's interesting, but it actually makes sense that the Child Era consists or Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, and Four Sword: Hyrule Adventure.
And I hate to say this, but someone with an AMAZING timeline theory recieved a letter from Nintendo, stating that there was in fact, NO timeline. Stupid Nintendo couldn't even humor the players -_-

I always thought the moon shot back up into the sky after you beat Majora's Mask, quickly shooting you out of it, no longer under the influence of the mask.
There is a theory out there that Termina was created by the Goddesses to hold their creations that didn't meet their expectations, and those that actively defied them. Termina was created as both a prison, and an endless torment. Their failed creations in an endless three day cycle of misery, that would repeat endlessly without the inhabitants ever knowing.
continuing from my last comment, deep down i think skullkid wanted to return to termina, and looking for a mask there gave him an excuse. when he saw the happy mask sales, he saw his chance, and a certain cursed mask caught his eye. i think that's how and why skullkid got majora's mask.
there is one thing you didnt mention. in oot, if you did the mask side quest, you know that you sell one of the masks to sku7llkid, but in majora's mask, he didn't have it in the flashback before he got majora's mask. i have a theory about that. he tells you that his friends were jealous of his mask in the lost woods, so maybe one of the other skullkids stole the mask from him. as we all know, the people of termina love their masks, so maybe skullkid returned to look for a new mask.

heres my theory as you know if you hcange the past you change the future so in ocarina of time when you become an adult you still have navi with you so when you turn back to a kid at the end of the game and navi leaves she might of had something to do with skull kid discovering majora's mask so when link was searching for navi he found skull kid
So in reality wind waker is a what if kinda saga for the zelda series like a what if link never came back after he found termina then it would have flooded and caused wind waker and when he did come back he later is reincarnated as the twilight princess link
@simba8128 the story in the begging of wind waker states that their was a hero who defeated gannon. and that was the link from OOT. it also said gannon came back but their was no one to fight him again cause the hero wasnt their so the gods flooded hyrule. link left hyrule so he's the hero who left and couldnt defeat gannon cause he was in termina. so wind waker is not a what if.it takes place 200 years after OOT
ok first off the moon in majoras mask wasn't the actual moon, it was a type of meteor created by the demon in the mask, second after link beat ganon in OOT navi left him which is why he went searching for her in the lost woods, which allowed him to get lost in the first place and find termina. so majoras mask happens after OOT and then allows the wind waker to become a story since wind waker opens by stating how the hero of time vanish (getting lost in the woods) allowing hyrule to flood

I agree with DarkSimonX. The happy mask shop in Hyrule stressed at LENDING masks out for people to sell and bring the money back for better masks. The Happy Mask salesman Probably got tired of this manner of business, and decided to roam the world and sell his masks. He would Fallow link into the forest, but he got attacked and robed of his mask by the skull kid first. He saw how the skull kid changed link into a deku. And when he met him in the clock tower, he says "I've been watching you"
I think this is what happened: After Link defeated Ganon and saved Hyrule, we saw that Navi left Link now that theres no need for her anymore. Link thinks of Navi as a lifetime best friend, and tries to follow her where she came from: The Forest. He had to go through the Lost Woods to find her, but he couldn't get to her. After Ganon was destroyed, 1 of the sages said, "Seal Him away in the Evil Realm!". When that happened, Majora escaped, and took control Skull Kid, who followed Link.

@raitosonozaki At the beginning of Majora's Mask, Link tells Zelda he's leaving for someplace to look for "an invaluble friend" and Zelda gives him the ocarina, then teaches him the song of time to aid him in his journey.
read the fucking manga: link is sent back to the past by princess zelda, then, he goes to the castle and tell her everything that was going to happen in the future, she gives link the ocarina of time and tells him to protect it, so he decide to look for navi, and get epona in lon lon ranch, but during his travel, deku kid attack him, and when he is chasin deku kid he "travels" to a parallel world where everyone that he met in hyrule is living a different life in termina.
Sorry, but I think it is completely impossible that Majora's Mask takes place in both timelines, because the skull kid is still in the lost woods when you are adult.
Majora's Mask takes place AFTER Ocarina of Time ends. As Link was sent back into time into a child again, he lost Navi at the end of it. He begins a new adventure searching for a "lost friend"- I do believe this is her, because the minute this message is said and read, the sound of Navi's fairy chimes sounded. So, that's why the moon is still there. It was a completely different moon in MM- Besides, in MM toward the end the moon is destroyed. It was just a meteor by the looks of it.

this is why i love the legend of zelda series. there are so many things in each series that give hints and clues that makes the mind think that there may be some sort of timeline or story to the game whether or not Nintendo intended to have one or not.

I think that the reason that the Mask Salesman even happens to be in termina and that link happens to be there is because when link fights ganon he gets sent back in time and has no recollection of anything in the adult timeline. He also loses navi as said in the beginning of the game but not only that but the lost woods has the trees to different rooms and when ganondorf was sealed he could have unleashed a magic thinger that opened a portal to termina.
sadly there is a difference between belief and fact, you wish to believe something because its what you want to go by, but the truth is is that there was a tree in the lost woods that was about 100 ft down and a hallway that was about 20 to 50 ft north south east or west. there is no way that could lead to a whole f**king island unless it was a portal to another area or dimension, but considering the strangeness of the hallway and the similarities in people there it goes to a alternate dimension

My only issue with this group of theories is the low amount of credit it gives to the Happy Mask Salesman. I always go the feeling HMS knew EXACTLY what was going on. It's why, if link didn't get his mask back, he was getting the hell out of Termina in three days and he spent all his time chillin by the tunnel out.

wait, skull kid had to be of the kokiri, because he has fairies, but in Ocarina of Time, he doesn't, and at the beginning of Ocarina of Time, the reat Deku Tree says that only one person doesn't have a fairy, Link. @luigiisthezelda ...Have you even played Majora's Mask? Tael is presumably purple because he's a boy. Tatl and Tael were just off on their own, flying around Termina like bored faeries do when it started raining. They took shelter under a log where they saw a Skull kid who was soaked and freezing and they all huddled for warmth and after that made friends etc. etc.

@luigiisthezelda And concerning those fairies I would add some comments to what Raven said. As the Deku Tree give fairies to young kokiri I think that Tatl and Tael would be some "rebel" or some escaped-orphan fairies as they don't obey the "rule" of being given to a kokiri. Or maybe they're simply too young to be given to some kokiri so they don't give a damn about going with Skull Kid.

Second, Majora's Mask is arguably one of the easiest Zelda games. The first time I played it (without a walkthrough, and it wasn't even my game that I could play whenever I wanted to) took me about a month. The second time took me six days. Now I can beat it in a day. ;P

Great theory, I understand that you put this out long before the official timeline but I think it could only happen in the child timeline. The happy mask salesman opened his shop in Hyrule first and then moved out into Termina because not many people actually went to his shop in Hyrule, that is why you had to do the side quest and hand all the masks out. So therefore i believe it was destroyed after he had his shop in Hyrule. Great theories though

I think the Alternate world was all set up by Majora. It all turns back to the Fierce Deity mask, and how the battle again Majora and him ended with Majora defeated. Majora then finally found a host where he set off to find a possible host for the Fierce Deity so they can once again gain power and fight once more. He plunges Link into another world, where he must fight to win acceptance to be worthy of the fierce deity. IT all goes back to Majora.

I found a working timeline, and they had this game in the Child Era. It's interesting, but it actually makes sense that the Child Era consists or Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, and Four Sword: Hyrule Adventure.

there is one thing you didnt mention. in oot, if you did the mask side quest, you know that you sell one of the masks to sku7llkid, but in majora's mask, he didn't have it in the flashback before he got majora's mask. i have a theory about that. he tells you that his friends were jealous of his mask in the lost woods, so maybe one of the other skullkids stole the mask from him. as we all know, the people of termina love their masks, so maybe skullkid returned to look for a new mask.

ok first off the moon in majoras mask wasn't the actual moon, it was a type of meteor created by the demon in the mask, second after link beat ganon in OOT navi left him which is why he went searching for her in the lost woods, which allowed him to get lost in the first place and find termina. so majoras mask happens after OOT and then allows the wind waker to become a story since wind waker opens by stating how the hero of time vanish (getting lost in the woods) allowing hyrule to flood

I agree with DarkSimonX. The happy mask shop in Hyrule stressed at LENDING masks out for people to sell and bring the money back for better masks. The Happy Mask salesman Probably got tired of this manner of business, and decided to roam the world and sell his masks. He would Fallow link into the forest, but he got attacked and robed of his mask by the skull kid first. He saw how the skull kid changed link into a deku. And when he met him in the clock tower, he says "I've been watching you"

I think this is what happened: After Link defeated Ganon and saved Hyrule, we saw that Navi left Link now that theres no need for her anymore. Link thinks of Navi as a lifetime best friend, and tries to follow her where she came from: The Forest. He had to go through the Lost Woods to find her, but he couldn't get to her. After Ganon was destroyed, 1 of the sages said, "Seal Him away in the Evil Realm!". When that happened, Majora escaped, and took control Skull Kid, who followed Link.

My theory:
Majora's Mask takes place AFTER Ocarina of Time ends. As Link was sent back into time into a child again, he lost Navi at the end of it. He begins a new adventure searching for a "lost friend"- I do believe this is her, because the minute this message is said and read, the sound of Navi's fairy chimes sounded. So, that's why the moon is still there. It was a completely different moon in MM- Besides, in MM toward the end the moon is destroyed. It was just a meteor by the looks of it.

I think that the reason that the Mask Salesman even happens to be in termina and that link happens to be there is because when link fights ganon he gets sent back in time and has no recollection of anything in the adult timeline. He also loses navi as said in the beginning of the game but not only that but the lost woods has the trees to different rooms and when ganondorf was sealed he could have unleashed a magic thinger that opened a portal to termina.

sadly there is a difference between belief and fact, you wish to believe something because its what you want to go by, but the truth is is that there was a tree in the lost woods that was about 100 ft down and a hallway that was about 20 to 50 ft north south east or west. there is no way that could lead to a whole f**king island unless it was a portal to another area or dimension, but considering the strangeness of the hallway and the similarities in people there it goes to a alternate dimension
