Thank you some much! Oh, and how can I prevent "drag"? Is my wood too hard or my tool not hot enough? I've only tried once, but I wound up with pockmarks rather than a smooth line.
@paulalovespunk You need to have a smooth, even contact with the wood (so don't use 'penpoint' tips). If you rewatch the beginning where I show my technique for lifting the leading (back) edge, I think you'll see how I do it. Andy yes, you DO need a nice hot, tip.
@jeremywickid21 Yes - Primer and lacquer would not only affect the woodburning, it would be completely toxic. Best to start with a new board. Even if you sand it down, there will be residue in the wood.
@nedraspyro As promised, I have reported you to YouTube for harassment and for malicious mis-reporting copyright infringement. I actually have a background in intellectual property law, so perhaps it is YOU who should read the law before publicly before ignorantly accusing people of things which you do not understand fully.
@nedraspyro 2/21/ e-mail from K. Sandvik to N Dennison (pg 4)
If you flag my video as copyright infringement you will be doing so with malicious intent, and I will file a counter-claim and provide a copy of this communication to YouTube as proof that your claim is both frivolous and harassing.
@nedraspyro 2/21 e-mail from K. Sandvik to N Dennison (pg 3)
As you have no legal right to prohibit usage of this term, I will not be changing the name of my short and informal video tutorial, which is clearly not affiliated with you, your book or your "registered domain." I now consider the matter closed.
@nedraspyro 2/21 e-mail from K Sandvik to N Dennison (pg 2)
Perhaps if you had used a title that was a little more unique, you wouldn't feel the need to send legally unsubstantiated threats to people who are providing simple tutorials. As I have never heard of you and have not read your book, any similarity between the techniques in my video and your book are coincidental or are common practices.
@nedraspyro 2/21 e-mail from K Sandvik to N Dennison (pg 1)
I have not infringed on any intellectual property rights. While you may indeed have a registered domain in that name, it does not afford you copyright protection. If you were familiar with intellectual property law, you would be aware that "101" is a term that has been in common usage for decades and is therefore not subject to copyright or trademark. ...
@nedraspyro Perhaps you have already forgotten my detailed response when you made your accusation of intellectual property infringment on February 21st of this year. Since your memory appears to have failed you, allow me to remind you:
hey.. what kind of wood are you using for the work? cause you seem to put much strength when burner down.. And sth else... You don't shadow it at all? or paint it up with acrylics etc? It's just wood colour and the lines? Ah.. And... what's that sponge (?) you use at the end.. ?
@comandantejunior1 I work on a cradled hardwood artist's panel which holds up much better over time. The video only shows the first step of my process. Not only do I paint these, but I also use inks, image transfers and mixed media in all of my pieces.
I think the 'sponge' you are asking about is a foam sanding block.
@krissisandvik Right.. Your work was great and that's why I wondered if it's finished at that point. But there are more to see as you say! I'll search about those products.. I don't know what this sanding block is! So, ok.. I'll be waiting for your new jobs!
@comandantejunior1 YouTube won't let me add a link in here for your to see the process and finished product, but I'll go back and edit my video and put a link at the end. :)
I am doing Pyrography for my Advanced Painting class (I'm going to paint in some areas...teacher is very open). I needed more examples on how to do this...thanks SO MUCH! Your dog is SOOO Adorable!
I don't know how to unscrew the tips. I've been trying all day. :(

@cloneman222 Take a look at your heat tool and google the maker/model number with 'change tips.' You should be able to find instructions easily.

does this end up carving into the wood????
saal649 7 months ago
@saal649 Yes. How deep depends on the heat of the tool, the tip used and the density of the wood as well as the speed and pressure you use.

I want to wood burn some images on my skateboards. Would primer and lacquer affect the image in any way?
